yeah i read about the limitation of the mobo as well.... but i will be getting the processor 1st..... mobo i dun think i wll be goin for 975 or 965 chip...i will be waiting for RD600 or 590sli sweat.gif

and can i know waht is C2D...i keep seeing this word sweat.gif
i saw a thread in XS it says that retail E6700 is multiplier unlocked as well...is that true???

here is the link

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showth...highlight=E6700
*
anyway, i still believe(based on athlon64 3200+, opty170 & opty146) processor wif multi of 10x is the best overclock wink.gif

x10 multiplier is easier to calculate clock speed tongue.gif
now i just wanan know if its unlocked downwards on retail ones or wat .... and i will be goin for air cooling...
*
yeahh.. multi of 10x is easier to calc. this C2D is unlocked downwards same wif current athlon64 processor & the temp was lower oso same wif athlon64 even wif stock cooling smile.gif

Bro, get the E6600 biggrin.gif No need to splash out extra money on the x10 multiplier wink.gif While the E6600 can get higher FSB, so both the Bus speed and memory can go higher...
*
yeahh.. but then, wat so gud?? the gud news r some of em' manage to hit 450 x7@ default vcore. aint it nice?? brows.gif

but if 400 x10@ stock speed, sure dang nice!! woohooo..

@gengstapo, one thing that most overlooked is that E6600 has 4MB L2 cache and that could give you roughly 10-15% increment in performance. That's why I was able to get sub 18s with 2.88ghz only while others get more than 18 sec even running at 3.15ghz.
*
yeahh.. might be. but i think memory timing oso playing much important roles.
i will soon find out bout this as im on my way to touch the 2.8Ghz wif my e6300 here.

thanks 4 the feedback anyway.. smile.gif

for this c2d, dual super pi 32m, loops of 3dmarks, occt also cant prove stability..

i passed all of them with flying colors but then i failed sp2004 after 5hrs!

450x7
ram 900 4-5-4-13
vcore 1.375 in bios (1.34 cpuz)
vdimm +0.2
vmch +0.2 - +0.3 all failed
vfsb +0.1
vpcie +0.1

pci e clock 101

EIST disabled

dunno what to do to make it stable prime at least 7 hrs. it's rare to have fail after 5hrs sad.gif
*
yepp same here. it can pass perfectly the SuperPi calc but when im into 3DMark, it will hang/ crash/ reboot etc.. haizz

but wat if u try to loose abit the timing & c how things goes

hi people, i am quite new to OC, but i am interested in knowing it biggrin.gif

i am getting e6300 processor and now i am looking for a mobo which suits it.

i read the star newspaper says that the MSI P965 Neo mobo is good and priced around rm450. anyone is using this board? i heard many are usiing DS3 and asus P5W DH
btw, i read from other forum says that e6300 can easily clock to 510mhz X 7 multiplier.

i probably will just use normal PSU and without any special cooling (no money to do so =.=)

i'll be getting a 2g 667 mhz dual channel RAM

and 7300 or 7600 graphic card.

i have read some of you all saying 4-4-4-10 or something with 4 digits like this, mind sharing what are the 4 digits for?

besides that, how should i probably aim for my PSU watt? around 400W or 500W ++ if i wanna do OC with it.
thanks very much for your info biggrin.gif
*
e6300 clocked to 510Mhz x7 actually depend on luck but mine can clock to 420mhz x7 = 2.9Ghz

dual channel DDRII 667 is gud enuff but if u can get the DDRII 800 RAMs, go for it

the 4 digit was refering into RAMs timing

my advice, get atleast 480watt of true/ pure power PSU
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ps : how to change the CAS timing in this DS3 Mobo hoh?? i already put manually 5-5-5-15-19, but when i check wif cpu-z its showing 3-5-5-15. i thinks this could make my system unstable. already tried the F3 & F4a BIOS, result still the same.. user posted image
