there is no church that teaching on prosperity, Joel Osteen and joseph Prince ministry does not teach about prosperity..............i wonder where you get the idea that this both ministry talk about prosperity all the time? sweat.gif

ermm, nope! i do not knw of any. Churches tat i do knw of, only preach about fire & brimstone, sin, repentance, love & Jesus the Christ.

i stay far, far away frm the teachings of Joel Osteen , Joseph Prince , Rick Warren & the likes cool2.gif .

those names u mentioned they does not emphasizes on prosperity teaching but more on the bibilical teaching, why their church can prosper is because of the approach they took and the way of teaching is not like traditional nor orthodox

u can go look for the proof yourself. i'm not in the biz of spoon-feeding u. otherwise, u r just hearing frm a 1 sided source too whistling.gif

Like Joyce Meyer, Joel Osteen has some really great things to say. He is encouraging and the man is certainly happy. This should not be held against him.

The man is confused on theology. He has much of the same doctrinal misunderstandings as does Joyce Meyer. They come from the same tradition. His doctrine is difficult to discern for many because he won't talk about doctrine. He won't talk about theology. He quickly back pedals when asked hard questions, as seen here in an interview with Larry King.

In fairness, Joel published a letter of apology after this interview.

While I commend him for his humility and courage to publicly declare that he was wrong, this is just one of too many instances. He frequently misunderstands important matters of faith and doctrine when being interviewed. He repeatedly gets the Gospel wrong. And he does so when talking to millions.

If we take Joel at his word, our only conclusion is that he is either incapable or unwilling to understand and explain how the Gospel intersects with all of life.

We recently hosted Hank Hanegraaff (The Bible Answerman) at SMCC. He has some very helpful insights (here and here) into Joel Osteen's confused views of faith, doctrine and Scripture:

Joel Osteen and Prosperity Gospel

The Prosperity Gospel is much like all other religions in that it uses faith, it uses doing good things to leverage material blessings from God. Essentially, use God to get things from God.

"God has already done everything He's going to do. The ball is now in your court. If you want success, if you want wisdom, if you want to be prosperous and healthy, you're going to have to do more than meditate and believe; you must boldly declare words of faith and victory over yourself and your family" From Your Best Life Now, p.132

"If you are believing for your child to find God, go help somebody else's child to develop a relationship with God. If you're struggling financially, go out and help somebody who has less than you have ... f you want to reap financial blessings, you must sow financial seeds in the lives of others ... If you want to see healing and restoration come to your life, go out and help somebody else get well" From Your Best Life Now, pp. 224, 250-51

This is not the Gospel. This is a false Gospel. Joel teaches that we open ourselves to God to get more from God. He teaches that we use our words to speak into existence a better reality. This straight from the Word of Faith Movement. This is not what is taught throughout the New Testament. Consider what the Apostle Paul wrote. And remember that he wrote this while in prison.

Philippians 4:10-13 I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

What's that? You just proved that he is a Prosperity proponent.

You asked for proof that J Prince is a prosperity teacher. That was it. Why dont you discuss his teachings?

You can put whatever you like as an advert.

BUT your words/teaching will tell the tale. Seems you have not been reading Prince's books like you told others to, for evidence.

Thats why teaching calls for DISCERNment at this evil age.

i guess Paul was very prosperous? And those at SMryna church?

OR did they miss Prince's revelation? biggrin.gif

Please study the life of Paul. Or are you implying Prince's extra revelation was missed by Paul?

How are you guys? Sorry it's been awhile since I've share anything.
Just want to share something that God spoke to me recently.

I want to bring you to this passage.

2 Corinthians 7:1 Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.

Upon first time reading, it sounds like and looks like we are too purify ourselves. But wait a minute, I'm sure many time we have understood the gospel, God washes us and sanctifies us by the blood of his son. (Hebrews 13:12). His son obedience to the Father all the way to the cross has made us righteous. (Romans 5:19), not our obedience, so how is it that this time we are able to purify ourselves? There is a problem here. If we can purify ourselves, it defeats the purpose why Jesus has to come. Think about it.

It was for this main reason, (why) Jesus had to come to be our savior simply because we cannot save ourselves. We can never clean our sins away, no matter what we do hence the meaning purify from everything that contaminates the body and spirit in the context of 2 Corinthians 7:1. God gave us the OT, for about 1500 years, He let us have our way, which is righteousness by works to let us know, we can't. Even the best of the OT, David a Man after God own's heart could not. He Sinned with Bathsheba and few other incidents.


See the problem with this theological believe is that when we believe we are able to purify ourselves it can dangerously turn to works for justification and righteousness. I asked God for an answer and He led me to 1 John 3:3. Praise be our God for his faithfulness and consistency. If you read the whole context of 1 John 3, you will begin to understand it is by Faith you are sanctified made pure in the context of 1 John 3:3 which also apply to all other scripture verse that talks about purify yourself, keep your self, walk in the light, etc.

And to drive the message Home, consider the following scripture verses below, none of it talks about purification by works or of ourselves but always by faith by the blood or by the spirit of God.
