Eh? I thought Singapore is high performance, how come you can still surf lyn at working hour?  hmm.gif maybe not to high performance after all. Maybe got SG people can slack one

buy a car in Spore? what is that thing call? I forgot. On top of the cost of the car, have to pay vehicle permit right? Expensive to own car in Spore and if i not mistaken that is if your application is approved?

taxi expensive so no choice but to opt for free exercise. Must love Singapore. Also every time take the taxi, the taxi driver very kepo want to talk talk banyak.
*
To you in malaysia can surf lowyat mean poor or low performance? Anyway, am not in Singapore now. Surfing lowyat in a hotel room actually.

Buy car in singapore needs COE. My arrival into singapore many years ago, the first 2 weeks, i drove my malaysia car into Singapore and the 3rd weeks onwards, i got a S plate car as i driving back into Malaysia everyweek. Yes, it is not cheap for driving in Singapore but if you want the comfort of getting from door to door, you got to pay some premiums for it.

Taxi is expensive. But if you are earning S$10k, taxi fees should be an affordable expenses for you. You dont have to be everyday take taxi as you can occassionally slot in some time for taking the mrt or bus if you wake up early or not in a rush. Even go cars, when we go out drinking, we ll still park the car at home and take taxi instead.

no la, i say if can surf in lyn, mean you have a lot of free time? haha, just joking.

But anyway you say you in hotel.

Yes thats the one, COE. But there is good reason for having it, or else SG traffic will be worst like Penang. Anyways, at least gahmen make effort to have bicycle lanes and the parks are very bicycle friendly. I like riding bicycle. In Malaysia very hilly and dangerous because lots of cars. In SG bicycle lane all flat.

Parking also expensive right? But in Singapore, during rush hours, sometime you want to get taxi also cannot, call the taxi also don't want to come. Very similar to Malaysia. Dunnowhether SG got Uber or not.
*
peak hour as u said. tolerate lor as everybody also wants to get home mah. If u can, u can stay back at office like some of my colleagues. Our company also provide shuttle bus to the nearest mrt station too n it only takes about 5-10 minutes bus ride only. but u got to Q up for the shuttle bus. Many companies do provide this shuttle service.

parking is expensive but is part and parcel of driving a car in singapore. Remember that u r earning the S$ and you dont calculate in RM when u spending it. When u get use to singapore life n earning 10k, i bet u ll be driving a car.

LOL, i haven't seen a single bicycle lane (other than ECP) in all my years in SG icon_idea.gif
Cyclists are so freaking annoying here. They not supposed to ride on pavements but they do anyway. Everytime one of them ring ring's me from behind I get the urge to just shoulder tackle him off the pavement into the drain. But I don't cos I totally understand that for them, riding on the roads is even scarier thanks to the lack of cycling lanes and the sheer amount of buses.

LTA should really ban cyclists going on the road. Scratched my car at Raffles then run away without stopping, point finger some more. Dumb enough to do that wearing his sport tshirt with name and company behind his back. Went to TP, file a report with car camera and whack the guy up and down with option to civil suit or settle until satisfied. Power of free legal service from office.

traffic jam - work graveyard shift, stay next to office
kiasu - if u can't beat them, join them
expensive rental - buy a roof then
walk walk now here to sit - ???
high work performance - self improvement is bad?
hot weather - back in m'sia it is not hot?!
*
biggrin.gif Thumbs up for kiasu part. Time to be kiasu one also!!!!

Expensive rental... Dollar for dollar also just about 200 more expensive than M'sia. Tolerable. Relatively cheaper transportation (dollar for dollar again...), KL LRT 7 stations RM2. Here 2SGD I can probably take from end to end of one line like 25 stations?

I think is "no where" instead of "now here". This part still ok. Can find quite many places to sit. But one weird thing I discovered is... Not many toilet in shopping malls. In my experience, it's considerably less compared to M'sia shopping malls.

Weird weather recently... Last week rain rain rain. This week still hot yet, no rain doh.gif Although forecast said today should rain one. End up not raining too.

QUOTE(tailtwist @ Oct 20 2014, 05:10 PM)
But stop no place to sit? Generally will have some seats available..unless you're talking about those bus stops that are in the 'hot' areas...eg Orchard/Central Business District(CBD).

Traffic jam?...In SG its more likely HUMAN jam(on MRT) rather than Traffic jam on the road.

Weather is infact 95% very similar compared to Malaysia/KL/Klang Valley

Important note. You must be ready for LOTSA walking when you don't have your personal transportation(eg Cars/Bikes). This was one the major adjustments. But after awhile you'll get use the amount of walking per day. Can easily clock up 10k walking steps.

Tanjong Pagar area is consider CBD...yes there are rooms/units to rent..but you must be willing to pay for the rental...1 room can easily SGD1k per month( HDB gov housing common room with no attached bathroom). If you want an attached bathroom its normally a master room. If you're looking into renting a WHOLE HDB unit in and around Tanjong Pagar...its way above SGD2.5k per month
*
Orchard area also got place to sit one la. I mean bus stop. Ppl come and go mah as buses arrive. Unless your bus arrived too soon, else can easily grab a seat tongue.gif

Zz Human jam is really doh.gif Especially green line (my impression la). Everyday I take green line then change to NS line. NS line so empty towards jurong east. EW line towards joo koon is so packed everyday. Towards pasir ris is so empty though. I'm just lazy to wake up earlier else should take to pasir ris then take the reverse train to secure a seat tongue.gif

Haze and everything also 95% same doh.gif Air pollutant index not so good recently...

Yeah... Lotsa walking... When I have nothing to do... I get aboard the MRT 2 stations away. Work at Orchard, walk to Dhoby Ghaut to take MRT although Orchard MRT just like 5 mins away biggrin.gif If want to walk less, can try to take bus more often. Normally easy to secure a seat depends on which bus you taking.

Cyclists may also be punished under the Penal Code for riding in public places in a rash or negligent manner.

If convicted, the offender faces a jail term of up to one year, or a fine of up to $5,000, or both.

The ang moh think you cannot do anything to him. The rich always bully the poor, but bow to richer people. That lawyer letter costed us 2k what free. Lucky for you the boss like to spend this kind of money getting people pay for what they did.

LTA and TP need to come out with regulation fast. SG always reactive, when enough amount of people die, then new regulations start to kick in.

Anyone has any viewpoints of buying Geylang apartments/condos for own stay? They seem rather cheap (relative to other condos in singapore) at about 500k...

I walk by Orchard Road, I see dozens of Filipino maids loittering around. Funny thing, I even saw a nerdy SG youth walked towards some Filipino maids at MRT station, to try to solicitate some sex. Then the Filipino maids stare at him wierd wierd, ignored him, he walk away disappointed, his head down. Then the maids all laughed aloud.
