Anyone knows if Malaysian SPR can apply US Visa at US Embassy in Singapore?

Yes. Even my mum on long term visit pass can get it. Remember to make appointment and chew a lot of gums before going down for interview. TSA vmad.gif .

Its ok, only rich people drive for leisure in Singapore. Poor souls like us, thanks to high rental and properties prices around MRT stations, fully loaded bus, the frequent breakdown of the MRT, need cars to travel from far away house to work on time because 1 minute late our boss will sack us, complain to ICA, revoke PR and send back to Malaysia within 24 hours time frame.
*
Said until like that. Why drive a luxury car instead? Also u mean if take taxi ll be slower than u driving? Staying far away from work, hmm....most likely ll get into jam n u never late for work for 1 minute? If yes, why u still in singapore instead of sent back to Malaysia....

Hi hi. Just wanted to ask everyone who's moved there, I already have my IPA and will be going to Singapore this weekend. I'll probably get my EP end of next week, read somewhere that it takes around 4 days after the company HR request for the EP to be issued. When arriving in Singapore what do you put as your length of stay on the white immigration card?

Thanks! smile.gif
*
I put 30 days.

Erm... I just got my EP card today, arrived at office last Thursday. So... It took me close to 1 month before getting my card tongue.gif

Actually don't need to rush. With IPA you already can work and stay here until the stipulated date, should be February or March. Just that you can't open bank account, can't get salary credited biggrin.gif Said so because the 2 years permit duration only starts counting from the date of request. Like my case... My HR requested for pass issuance 2 weeks ago only after my medical report reaches her hand (stupid MHC... Requested to send courier end up never send it vmad.gif ). The EP expiry date is 2 years after the request date instead of the application date biggrin.gif

QUOTE(bearbear @ Sep 29 2014, 10:53 AM)
application approved and you are required to present physically for card application?

you should have a letter stating you are allowed to work in Singapore already, use the letter & don't need to fill up white card. I once fill up the white card and the immigration officer kinda question me why still fill up white card. I think they have it in their system.
*
I filled up 30 days. Then the guy confirmed with me that I'm staying in for 30 days. Asked for the reason... Say come here for work, then showed him the IPA. Settle.

QUOTE(aLertz @ Sep 29 2014, 10:58 AM)
i put 28 days...js 2 days below max biggrin.gif
mostly you'll settle everything within the first 2 weeks...
*
Later when issuing pass write wrong number of day biggrin.gif Put 30 straight easier.

QUOTE(trade_mark @ Sep 29 2014, 02:10 PM)
Hi bearbear, yes application approved and next week will be there to collect the card.

Hmmm ok, well in any case like you said if its in the system then the officer will just tell me when I'm at the counter.

Thanks for the info!
*
Have you done your medical checkup? So fast can collect d? Nice...

After I show my passport, the officer didn't mention about it wor... Just see the white card ask me why stay 30 days then ask me show IPA.

Which bank in Singapore offer the highest interest rate in terms of saving account and fixed deposit account? I'm a Malaysian who is going to work in SG next week. My company HR asked me to open a bank account for salary bank in. Anyone can suggest me? Singapore bank POSB, DBS, OCBC, UOB, or Malaysia bank MAYBANK, CIMB. Which one better? Thanks for helping!

biggrin.gif I never bother to look at their interest rate/FD. IINM their interest rate is relatively low compared to M'sia ones.

http://singapore.deposits.org/
http://malaysia.deposits.org/

Not sure if there's anything hidden there but from these figures, I think the interest rates are lower in SG la biggrin.gif But if you want to take inflation and other factors into account then no idea.

For convenience, POSB/DBS (DBS owns POSB, you can do transaction at either bank using either bank account without extra charges) and OCBC would be better. These two banks have more ATMs around as I've observed. Of course POSB+DBS still the most la. Any MRT/shopping mall most probably have at least one POSB/DBS ATM machine.

Maybank is really rare here *although there's one near my place* with only 80+ ATM IINM in whole SG. Not so convenient if want to withdraw money.

the process took around 4 days after approved. Mine is a social visit/work visa. The interviewer actually able to tell you if succeed or not on the spot. Just a walk in the park after showing them my company letter. They courier my passport back to me.

Anyone know how end-of-life (10 years) cars works in SG?

Just as an example, assuming one buys a Mar-2006 registered Proton Savvy for $8.8k, which has an OMV of $7.7k.

In Feb-Mar 2016 the COE expires and car deregisters.

According to OneMotoring site it seems you would be eligible for a 50% ARF rebate which translates to 50% of OMV i.e. $3.85k

So effectively you'd have paid $4.95k to use a car for almost 2 years (not including road tax insurance etc etc lah.

Is that how it works?

Once you submit are consider not part of the company, dont think you will entitled to AWS.
one month notice period is just for you to handover your work and other thing.

I reckon you can use your CPF to pay your monthly installments ? Houses (two you mean ?), that's an achievement considering the high prices there.
