That Maybank 6 months promo.

Promotion period: 23/5/-30/6
Min funds: $10,000
Interest: Paid on maturity
Period: 6 months
Interest average is 3.55% based on flg:
1-2 months 3.1%
2-4 months 3.15%
5th month 3.2%
6th month 5.6%

Anyone knows does this need fresh funds or not?

Edit: Called the bank already. No need fresh funds and can deduct from my CA directly.

From T&C:

"Only new placement of fresh funds (funds from other banks) during the Campaign Period shall be entitled to the promotional rates during the Campaign Period."

Newbie here. Hope to get clarification from the statement above. Does that mean the fresh funds cannot be from existing MBB saving a/c?

What if you uplift an FD in cash, then re-deposit?

Depends. Last time OCBC told me got people do that, but then apparently they don't allow already now. You can try and let us know which bank if they allow you to.

Bank Rakyat will allow monthly interest for 6 months and above FD. Other banks do but with some conditions like senior FD etc.

Almost forgotten about the BR 1st of month interest credit issue. Just checked and for those Mubeen FD, they still credit the interest on 1/6.

BCC, please check yours. So only Mubeen FD is doing this.

Anybody renewing their FD for shorter term than 1 year & for how many months?

I am thinking of putting at 6 months just sufficient to get the monthly interest for BR.

As people expecting OPR to go up, some of us are putting at short term FD. Myself have put in 3 months FD recently while waiting for the OPR to go up. smile.gif

Have a question about BR. If BR credits the interest every month to your account, what is the penalty if we do an early FD upliftment?
