Did upliftment of a few of my FDs at BR. Giro charges OTC at RM2. Ask for Banker Cheque as its free then walk 10 meter deposit in maybank cheque machine. Giro still slow at BR so no advantage over cheque .
*
The branch that I opened the FD said no more banker cheque for upliftment of FD, only Giro available and they will absorb the RM2 fees.
Do you know whether we can uplift our FD from other BR branch by bringing the FD cert.?

Tried uplifting a 20k BR FD last week in another state but the BR staff told me the limit for withdrawing FD at another branch is 10k...
Today made new FD deposit with personal cheque at the usual branch and was immediately issued the sijil which was a surprise, last time got to wait 1~2 days for the personal cheque to clear... complaint to the counter officer about not being able to withdraw FD at another branch but was told that the new limit is 50k, and 10k limit was old one...
looks like every BR branch has its own rules sad.gif

There's a limit of 10K to withdraw from different BR branch?

Which BR branch staff told you that? shakehead.gif

I've posted in FD thread before, the limit is 50K & I know for sure that this limit is in force since early last year. So, 50K is not a new limit.

Tarak quality & inadequate knowledge punya staff... doh.gif

The one in Bandar Baru Klang. Since I was rushing I didn't argue with the staff.

I could not uplift my Maybank FD opened in another branch long time ago even though it's only 3k per cert.
What an archaic rule Maybank has compared to other banks...

i assume this is your 1st time placing eFD?

it will take about 1-2 days for maybank to clear. Subsequent placement will be immediate. <-- info from forumers at this topic
on the other hand, today i encountered something strange. I've placed eFD back in March for Islamic Flexi (Mudharabah). Today, i placed another eFD using Conventional. It treated this as "1st" placement as well and my account not yet deducted.

Any differences between islamic and conventional eFD?

That Maybank 6 months promo.

Promotion period: 23/5/-30/6
Min funds: $10,000
Interest: Paid on maturity
Period: 6 months
Interest average is 3.55% based on flg:
1-2 months  3.1%
2-4 months  3.15%
5th month    3.2%
6th month    5.6%

Anyone knows does this need fresh funds or not?

Edit: Called the bank already. No need fresh funds and can deduct from my CA directly.

Thanks for the info, must we go to counter to place the FD or can it be done online?

Ha ha..Sorry for my late reply.. too much work recently  sad.gif
Yes, I received all mubeen's dividends on 1st of June.
I noticed BR credited in between 6.45am to 7.00am on 1st June  biggrin.gif
Don't forget to get the BR's ATM COOP card, you just need to pay one time fee RM 8.00;
and you can put joint name on the ATM card if you wish.

With this ATM card, you can access to iRakyat.com.my internet banking to view all your
accounts and all transactions, and you can IBG fund from irakyat which cost you only 10
cent per IBG, but limit to RM 5000 per day.
Can share which branch offers better FD rate?
The gifts are not so valuable la, I suggest to go for the better rate..
*
About the ATM card, I asked local BR branch and the counter staff said have to pay RM8 annual fee. What's the difference?

Just opened new i-FD under "same" promotion by withdrawing from saving account, the interest rate distribution is different but effective rate is still 3.73% in the brochure, the distribution is as follows:
Month
1,2 - 3.2%
3,4 - 3.25%
5 - 3.5%
6 - 6%

Above is as stated in the FD cert. The branch is Maybank Islamic.

What is the definition of fresh funds?

I transferred online from MBB everyday 10k to my RHB current account.  After few days, I went to RHB to transfer the sum to RHB step up promo 15-mths.  They said cannot!    Fresh funds means must be within 1-2 days they can accept.  Anything longer, they said not "fresh" wor!  Really?    But I cannot transfer online 50k or 100k at one go mah.    RHB said ask MBB to issue bankers cheque for full amount, then bring the check to them, only then they can give me the 15-mth step up promo rate.

Now all my funds in RHB current account for nothing .. haih.    Now I have to transfer out the funds again & then get bankers' cheque?

Can do over the counter interbank giro, there is no cap of 10k per day but the fee is ~rm2.

The main good thing about RHB 15 months FD promo their FD interest payout every 3 months.

But I personally do not like RHB to lock additional 5% fund in CASA for 3 months and this means
that you will need to spend time, money and energy to look for another new FD promo for
your 5% fund in 3 months later.

And I do not think RHB will terminate this FD promo after the merger.

I am not sure if Affin 15 month FD is eligible to participate in OMG or not?
http://www.affinbank.com.my/General/Whats-...uble-Bonus.aspx
Let's say if place low FD rate for short term now and in exchange for next higher FD rate for long term in a right timing, then in average this is not a dilemma, but this is a success..  hmm.gif

In conclusion:
(1) if confidence the next OPR will increase soon, then put short term first, then long term.
(2) if uncertain the next OPR will increase or not, then just pick long term

Agree or not..??  hmm.gif

Called them and the staff said it's eligible for OMG and currently 2X chance as part of Merdeka promotion

Another risk with locking in 5-yr interest rate is inflation rate may rise after GST implementation forcing BNM to raise the interest rates in the next few years

Was informed by Affin bank staff that the 4.05% 15-mth already close from this week.. so no choice have to go for RHB 15-mth step-up promotion with CASA. The RHB 15-mth promotion will end on 31-Aug.
