Guys,

Understand the current Ambank promotion may not be very attractive but I cannot seem to find the details anywhere.

From today's Star: 3.38% for 6 months + 3.7% for 18 months
50% must be placed in both tenures

But it did not say anywhere if fresh funds are required, anyone got any idea? Else will go check it out sometime next week.

bro check out OCBC, 18 months tenure

6 months 3.6%
12 months 4%

6 months interest will be throw in to enjoy 4% for 12 months.

I know about that promo but I have some money lying in ambank which I don't plan to transfer out soon.
Besides, is not as good as BR & waiting time at OCBC is really long for every opening of account thumbup.gif

Bro, it is stated in the Ad, Minimum Fresh Fund RM20K and RM40K for Existing Customers and New Customers Respectively.

Updated Post#1 and My Fixed Deposit Page showing the ad where the Fresh Fund amount was stated.

Thanks Captain. Just confirmed it too by asking them, didn't see that fine print.

Did u get any gift from previous BR FD,HJebat? blush.gif

Regulars here usually get gifts, eg. face towel, pedicure/manicure set, umbrella, parker pen

QUOTE(tifosi @ Apr 18 2014, 01:54 PM)
Do I need an account in BR in order to deposit my FD there?
*
Not necessary unless you go for the monthly interest.

Just came back from AM Bank.

Here are more details of the 3.38% + 3.7% combo FD:
- They did not really check how much fresh funds I had in my current account as they did not even say how much maximum I can put in the FD
- An umbrella is given if you put a total of RM 30,000 or more while a tote bag is given if RM50,000 or more.
Attached Image
- For the 18 months 3.7% FD, interest is credited into your account every 6 months
- For the 6 months 3.38%, you can close that FD after 6 months

Further confirms that BR diff branch has its own "policies"  shakehead.gif . Personal cheque based on past experience need clearance before FD cert issued, unless it is banker's cheque. Lucky you !  biggrin.gif
*
For me, be it banker's cheque or personal cheque, I always got the FD cert issued on the same day itself right from day 1 which was probably last year.

In fact, there was once my cheque was rejected due to some writing mistake & I went to replaced it 2 days later but still did not affect my FD date.

No issues on my side for BR as I have so far opted for interest payment upon maturity.

However, moving forward, I am considering changing to monthly interest as after calculating, it is possible to get additional around .05% interest if it is put into monthly FD of 2.95%

Just saw in today's Star newspapers on Ambank's latest promo something like the following:

3.75% for 1 year FD
minimum amount of RM 100,000 for existing customers

Thank you very much, was looking high & low for the online flyer!

Finally a nice FD promo from Ambank. No Step-up and no CASA.
Meaning if a person has a current FD of total RM200,000 in multiples slips (more than 10), he can apply for AmSignature Priority Banking Customer and get the extra 0.10%, correct? If during the 15 month period, he withdraw the sum to below RM200,000, the bank will revised the rate back to 3.75%?

*
Not too sure about the FD rate but there will be charges imposed:

Fees and Charges
Half yearly service fee of RM100 will be charged if the account minimum monthly average balance (deposits and/or investments) fall below RM200,000.

Anybody renewing their FD for shorter term than 1 year & for how many months?

I am thinking of putting at 6 months just sufficient to get the monthly interest for BR.

Have decided to place 6 months FD at 3.65% interest with BR & first time trying out their monthly interest payment.

Unfortunately, they said this month they have not decided to give nego rate somemore!

A new feature I noticed at BR is the 'Exclusive' carpet where they said you will be served immediately if you have deposits RM300k or more. No other benefit though.

I saw it at the 2 branches in PJ I went to, at Section 14 and Damansara Utama branch
I am now torn between the 2 branches. 1 branch is possible to get parker pen but very very difficult to get nego rate while the other has nego rate but gifts not so good.

Don't forget to get the BR's ATM COOP card, you just need to pay one time fee RM 8.00;
and you can put joint name on the ATM card if you wish.

With this ATM card, you can access to iRakyat.com.my internet banking to view all your
accounts and all transactions, and you can IBG fund from irakyat which cost you only 10
cent per IBG, but limit to RM 5000 per day.

Can share which branch offers better FD rate?
The gifts are not so valuable la, I suggest to go for the better rate..
*
I already have the ATM COOP card & online account but they just charged me RM 5 for renewal fee this year.

Section 14 branch gives the nego rate. Once I was Damansara Utama branch there was an uncle who haggled very long only got the nego rate so don't think I want to spend so much time doing that.

Well, Parker pen is worth about RM60-RM70 i think so it would be more worthwhile than the nego rate for RM100k.
Anyhow, it depends on luck as this round Section 14 branch also said no nego rate declared for this month yet when I went there.

Ya, but they have 2 versions of Parker pens smile.gif . One looks more expensive than the others. So depends on which one they give you.

I got a plain solid white colour & one clear blue version but both are plastic on the outside so don't think will be much different in price

Also BR is more stingy on gifts already. Last time the counter staff can give out the gift freely, now it seems need to go through the ABM. Not sure of other branches though.  sad.gif

2. BR staff can tell you straight in the face that their branch have run out of stock for gifts, but when you let them know that you'd like to place a six-figure amount of FD, out of the blue, they can magically find a way for a gift to make its appearance in front of you. Happened to me twice...different BR branch yo...probably their SOP...should have recorded the whole episode of my conversation with the staffs in HD video...their acting skills & facial expressions really ini maciam yo  thumbup.gif

*
Yes, exactly! When I was there, there was another guy negotiating for a free gift but they said none at all & he even asked if BR can owe him the gift but cannot.
But when I placed my FD, suddenly out came an umbrella without asking though no nego rate.

QUOTE(bbgoat @ Jun 10 2014, 03:30 PM)
BR's ATM Co-op card should be no annual fee. They did not charge me for it.

*
Ok, next time i'll ask about the Co-op card.

Hohoho...BR's gift trick finally revealed. I received an umbrella as well...just curious, did you deposit a 6-figure amount of FD to be eligible for the umbrella?
*
I believe should be the 6 figure deposit & total deposit since they already checked when I requested for nego rate.

If FD deposit >50k, can ask for nego rate.  smile.gif

The branch I bank at minimum for nego rate is RM 100k & this time when I asked, they said no nego rate allowed yet for June. Very suspicious as previously no problems getting it.

Ha ha, BR has local land lord at each location practicing diff policy or did they change their policy too often ??  hmm.gif

Anyway, I am looking at diversifying to MBSB in few months time as well. BR seems to be more unpredictable to me. My branch BM & ABM both transferred and have not met with the new management yet.  shakehead.gif Have set up good rapport with previous BM & ABM.  But now they are gone.  shakehead.gif
*
I also asked if later this month will it be possible to have nego rate again they said yes.
Maybe they re-org after the 'incident' but on my end didn't really notice any changes.

If BNM raises or does not alter the OPR, but BR revised down its profit rate again, I'll definately pull out all of my $$$ from BR  bruce.gif

We can only monitor & wait.
Guess many banks have their problems too. Like AM Bank, the new RM never bothered to intro herself to me & even when I went there, she didn't even appear after half an hour!

I've heard of RM, but have no idea what it stands for...Regional Manager? Relationship Manager? Ringgit Malaysia? biggrin.gif

Maybe the RM knew that you've put most of your money in BR, so showed her discontentment towards you  laugh.gif

*
Earlier I almost forgot what was the short form of Relationship Manager too. It is RM.
Nah, is a new RM which I never talked to before.

Sorry xcxa23, I tried building a rapport before with AM Bank & it didn't work, be it with the branch manager or with the Priority Banking relationship manager.
The only benefit i got was they closed one eye for the recent FD promo where it requires fresh funds.

I've just been waiting out on the OPR increase just like everyone else..

BR kaki's, I remembered there was a time where there were inconsistencies in the crediting of the monthly interest. Has that been resolved now?

So what day of the month does the interest get credited now? (For new FDs)

If I just placed my FD last month (less than 30 days), will I still get the interest this month?
