Interest rate decision is always based economy situation.

Household debt level, inflation, GDP, export/import figure, IPI, current account surplus/deficit etc are several important indicators that may influence the interest rate decision.

With the recent OPR rate increase, get extra 0.25% p.a. on our 12 months Islamic FD, now at 3.9% p.a. Visit OCBC branch by 31 July. T&Cs apply

QUOTE(tweakity @ Jul 21 2014, 11:11 PM)
that was two months back. too rushed so i went to the nearest bank.
guess i can check out RHB's promo now? if they ask me to open savings account again, die ahhhhh already have savings account with them but opened at different city.

Can i complain to bank negara? banks requesting unreasonable opening of savings account. already have savings account with them, then ask me to open another one because of different city/branch.
But i have a feeling its Hong Leong only?
*
RHB promo you need to have CA / SA because they deposit the interest every 3 months into your account.

Sure can, don't complain la clarify first smile.gif

Saw this on fb too. Can't find T&C though.... rates on their website not updated since 2011, still showing 3.25% for 1 year period.

i called OCBC and enquired about OCBC FD promo at 3.9% p.a. for 12m.
The customer service officer told me as below:

1.) Fresh fund
2.) Min 10k
3.) No CASA needed
4.) Promo till end of July
5.) Open to non-muslim/muslim

Guess this is the best 12m FD rate so far, yea?
Cheers.

Just placed Maybank Merdeka FD. Is it ok that the cert did not mention the interest for month4-6? The officer told me they will auto adjust it to 3.30, 3.40 & 5.48 respectively for month 4, 5, 6. Anyone have placed this promo FD?
*
U r rite in that the FD cert does not state the interest for month 4-6. Insisted that i need some confirmation and they gave me a computer print out listing the fd as Merdeka FD and they rubber stamp n sign on it.

Their last update of their website is still 31 March..

implementation of GST next year... biggrin.gif

Just placed 3.9% 1 year Islamic FD with OCBC. Yes, it was a straight forward FD, no need CASA thingy.

Last week just put in UOB, now thinking of withdrawing from UOB and BR and put them together into this...
*
If your UOB rate is 3.65% and you premature uplift it, each day you rugi 0.01% x number of days. You count lor, worth or not.

So obvious and crystal clear also dilemma lagi ka ?? 4.06% la. extra 3 months only ma.
But if just small deposit amount, choose the bank most convenient to you. Coz a RM10 travelling/parking cost can effectively reduce the interest rate of 4.06% to 3.96% for a RM10k FD deposit.
