QUOTE Fin Rot Occurrence : Very common. Symptoms : Inflamed rays; thorn, ragged or disintegrating fins. Causes : Either poor water quality or fin injury is the main cause of this disease, a highly contagious bacterial infection that can completely erode the finds and tail all the way down to the body. Fin rot is frequently followed by a secondary fungal infection. Treatment : Spot treat infected areas with gentian violet. Add 1 tablespoon of aquarium salt for each 5 gallons of water to help with osmoregulation. Frequent water changes are necessary to help improve your beta's condition. try to do 100% water change everyday for the entire duration of the treatment. |

GymBoi,
welcome ! i'm also a newbie into rearing a betta You can use those 1 litter bottle cut it into half as ur tank. Otherwise go out and buy a RM 2.50 - RM 3 betta tank also can. Depending on individual. I bought my RM 3 tank coz I prefer having them in square tanks I'm one of those who have them in my room. They dont need pump just need to change water every 2 days or so and feed them food. Just for your info, yewlin sell betta too and he got nice ones available. |

Just wanna share the pictures of my collection. They may not be show grade but they look pretty to me. I like each of them very much. Indeed, I have 15 now, some not yet have pictures. They have their own character, some superactive, some shy..... Recently, get into crowntail too.
My butterfly HM. The first one is blue butterfly. The second I think it is copper with red wash? Not too sure because I bought it with RM 10 only from LFS. His fin is shinning!!!! Marble Fancy and White Double Tail. If you look carefully, the Marble Fancy is the one that I have 'operated' on his fin. Took about months to recover back. Fortunately, still look good to me but of course not show grade. The White Double Tail is just gorgeous. A big full circle at his top form. A bit of shy too. Finally, my dearest red HM. Absolutely smart and active fish. They flare at me when I approach because they know I will give them food. I can handfeed them now, they even fight with my finger. I hope these pictures give motivation to beginner... I have started to learn breeding but failed three times due to lack of suitable food for fry. So sad. freshyyf, wow...your Marble Fancy is really nice, even though u had been "operated" on it.
I think my betta had no fin-rotting disease anymore, hopefully it could grow healthier & growing back a nice fin. |
