I am a newbie to betta breeding also. Jit Sin, can I also Q up for your betta? Do you have a booth in the Aquafair 2006?

I actually posted a thread in BSM but since this thread is so popular, I rather post my question here as well. Hope someone can help.

Hi, I spawned my betta for 2nd time. For the 1st time, all of the fries died properly due to hunger. I fed them with fluid food (small bottle type) but I had absolutely no idea if they really consumed it. This time, I bought the BBS cyst but the hatching rate is appaling. Plus, it is very expensive - RM18++ for a small bottle (like Eye-Mo size). I live in Ipoh, anyone knows where to get microworms or other fry food around Ipoh?

Thanks a lot. Also, I would appreciate if someone tell me where can I buy show quality betta in Ipoh? I always buy from a LFS in Ipoh Garden but their fish quality fluctuate a lot.

Thanks for the advices. I tried the egg yolk before, but foul my water quite fast. Will try again.

Evildonkey, Yes, it is the LFS near Wolley in Ipoh Garden. Any suggestion since you are Ipoh guy?

Check the products out in Aquabid:

One is the dried powder food (Atison) for betta fries from day 3 and the other is instant brine shrimp in bottle. Any of you used those stuff before? I remember someone here purchased Atison product before, how is the result?

Where is Jitticus mini farm? By the way, does he has a website? If not, why not make a website to show his bettas, easier to order too.

Yes, I browsed Bobby website yesterday. I actually emailed him if I can get first-time buyer discount tongue.gif but he hasn't replied me yet. Does he hang around this forum? You know any breeder up north of Malaysia, Perak for more specific?

Aged water topic - I actually did not age my water! Change 100 %, using tap water which is after gone through the filter. No problem at all to my fishes (2 females and 2 males). For the HM I really like, I add some drops of 'black water', he seems more active.

Jit, are you selling those in the pictures??? If yes, how much? Let me have some idea to save my money, haha. Also, how old are you?

Please dun call me sifu, I am just a fresher.

Ya, I read some articles also about the mineral reduction. Anyhow, they still survive well. If you still doubt about the filter water, add the 'black water' or so-called 'black extract'. They love it! Otherwise, put the Ketabang leaves. I found that the betta are really easy to raise. I change my water only once a week but feed them once a day, 2 or 3 pellets a day. Both of them flared at me each time they saw me approaching, probably hungry..... hehe. Advise is feed less is better than more.

Is there any of you got experience with small hole in the betta tail, not fin rot? What are the causes of hole? Can they be growing back?

I found out a small hole at the tail of my HM but he is completely normal and active. Immediately, I changed the water. Am I doing the right thing? Hope all sifus can help.

Hi guys, any of you go to this shop (see the websites) before in One Utama? I found it in Aquafair website. If anybody went before, how is the quality of their betta? I emailed them about their price, about RM 50 - 100. Not sure about quality, hope someone can give comments.

Strange then, their website mostly advertises betta. May be the Cheras head office has more bettas. Do let me know if any of you go there before. Though, they said it is not possible to do online order to other states.

COOL, sifu Yewlin, I am interested to buy your HM. Are the fish as nice as Jit's avatar? Show us the picturelar... Buy 2 got discount?
How should I pay you? Can I pay you first, then collect during Aquafair?

Seriously, why don't you guys do that: Paste the betta fish you want to sell, then we can choose and do not mind to pay first (bank transfer perhaps). Then, we can come to Aquafair to collect. I am afraid all those nice fish gone when we come to Aquafair late sad.gif

I check the website, the Aquafair open to public only at 18 and 19 Nov. 16 and 17 Nov are for professional and traders.

I am not staying in KL, plus need to pay postage fees and bear the risk of fish dying. Collect in Aquafair is convenient for them and me, they do not need to pack/send and I do not need to wait at the fish to come to my house.

Jit, so.... are you posting the pictures soon? Haha, I think I am really pushing you guys... Just that I would not be around from 11-14 Nov, so I cannot check this forum as frequent as I did.

I saw some strange line in Aquabid though. One is even called Koi veil tail. Body pattern is like koi, very strange and fancy type.

Some got unbelievable colours, I wonder if they are photoshop edited sometimes.

Hi Yewlin, that is good!!! Now, I am very undecided which to buy, show grade HM is very tempting!!! I will come to the Aquafair at 18th Nov (Sat) around afternoon depending upon bus arrival time. Which stall number will you be in the Aquafair? If you don't mind, you can email your handphone to my email account : freshyyf@yahoo.co.uk

Thanks first.

Hi Yewlin, I like the 1st BF. I think the caudal fin is good but the bottom fin (anal fin?) is a bit too long. How much you sell for this one?

There were many bettas in Aquafair!!! I saw many breeder like Bobby but someone told me Jit was not around. Yewlin, by the time I saw your salamander bf, I already used up my money in betta food and equipment, sorry. How do you look? I might see you, many people in that area. You won anything?

What do you guys think about the Aquafair? I think it was great and should keep continue organise. Just that the betta competiton area was a bit messy, I mean the numbering. Just a suggestion, the betta should be labeled everything - the owner, the type, willingness to sell, contact number....

Anyone of you will go to the coming Penang betta charity event? Should I expect more betta there? I think some betta in Aquafair are actually not that good in quality. The condition is not standard, some with plants, some with blackwater.... not very pro in such a big aquafair. I think Discus area is much better. They were damn nice and good in quality! I accidentally met the grand champion and took a photo with him.

Yewlin, congrat to you. I just checked BSM website. You actually won quite a lot prizes also.

Evildonkey, thanks for clearing my doubts. Tell you my experience of wild betta, I did not know that I actually caught betta persephone (wild betta) before. I was catching shrimps in the waterfall area and accidentally, I caught two fish. They looked a bit like female betta and at that time I have no idea how the wild betta should look. Then, I raised them in my tanks. They were quite young fish, the eyes appeared to have slight bright blue, very cool colour. As they grew up, their body became darker. Unfortunately, they died after 2 months. Do you got more info. on their behaviour? I may go to that waterfall area and try my luck again, hehe...
