tail cannot see the difference between male and female.
to identify a betta female, you got to look for a white spot around the ventral fins area. you cant go wrong with this method. don't attempt to breed betta using anything smaller than a 10 gallon (2 feet) tank. your 300-500 fries won't last the week. take a look at www.bettatalk.com for more info and guides. QUOTE(yewlin @ Apr 9 2007, 10:28 AM) i went to check on my tank after work yesterday and i found that the male has been blowing bubbles! yay! and i think most of the eggs has hatched (hairy bubblenest) when i went to check this morning. couldn't see much coz of bad lighting.p/s: daphnia can be purchased from Kok Aquarium in PJ old town for RM1 / ~500ml (i have already mapped it in wikimapia.org but the search doesn't seem to be working. just search for assunta hospital (and work your way downwards) or old town bus station) |

QUOTE(Foxngn @ Apr 16 2007, 08:59 AM) Aiyo..my betta fin rot been worsening, all those medicine i used no effect at all, the fin oredi shorten by half liao. what medicine u used?If i would want to cut it, how much i need to cut? QUOTE Fin Rot Occurrence : Very common. Symptoms : Inflamed rays; thorn, ragged or disintegrating fins. Causes : Either poor water quality or fin injury is the main cause of this disease, a highly contagious bacterial infection that can completely erode the finds and tail all the way down to the body. Fin rot is frequently followed by a secondary fungal infection. Treatment : Spot treat infected areas with gentian violet. Add 1 tablespoon of aquarium salt for each 5 gallons of water to help with osmoregulation. Frequent water changes are necessary to help improve your beta's condition. try to do 100% water change everyday for the entire duration of the treatment. |

QUOTE(sayasebuk @ Apr 23 2007, 10:33 AM) yes, you can put females into a community tank. but make sure you got a lot of females. u put 2 female in there they might have a deathmatch. put more than 10 into a community tank. fighting will still occur for the alpha female position, but once the alpha female has been established, there will be less fighting. but if u take out the alpha female, they will start fighting again for the empty post. pls correct me if i'm wrong. |

QUOTE(ivanlim @ Apr 23 2007, 11:57 AM) then can you put different types of females together or they got to be from the same family? different types of females oso can. but if from same family, then the alpha position will usually be determined a long time ago. and yea, best to put in some plants.eg. female turqoise with gold turqoise. and if you do have a community tank of 10, you'll need a large tank right? with lots of hiding places and plants. i'm wondering if a 1 gallon tank is large enough? pls don't cramp 10 females into 1 gallon tank. u'll see a lot of difference in your betta behaviour once u move them into larger quarters. they're usually more lively. i'm currently storing my betta in 1 gallon tank PER betta. lots of room to swim and don't need to change water that frequently. |

QUOTE(ivanlim @ Apr 24 2007, 02:14 PM) 3 betta is ok. ya, super delta. can't imagine you providing a gallon tank for each fry when they grow up though. hahaha! I currently have 1 male super delta, 1 male gold PK, 1 male red CT, 1 turqoise male BT, 1 male VT, and 4 fries (3 platinum white & 1 turqoise. I think they're about a month old). and I actually want more!!!! hahaha! ps. what's a sdpk? super delta? i'm actually thinking of setting up a barrack system to house all of them + fry but have yet to find funding for it. costs on tanks alone is about RM335. still need piping, rack, water pump, uv filter and lights. headache..headache... |

QUOTE(GymBoi @ Apr 27 2007, 03:34 PM) Is it ok if i change the water now ? Like 100% ... then i rinse the gravels for a week like u said ... so the tank will be empty ... with the ship and 100% new water ... everytime you change 100% water, u put the fish under high stress level. only do it if you absolutly have to. in your case, it's even better to have the betta in a bare-bottom tank as it will be a lot easier to clean the tank. Then the next time i change water again only i put back the gravels in .. is that ok ? Can he adopt to the change ? Coz like change here change there dunno he like onot ... |
