I think it's the 1.6L Turbocharged engine that lacks sufficient horsepower for pickup of speed above the 100km/h region
(compared to say a 2.4L Estima engine)

Most cars (apart from high end/performance cars) can't do 100-150km/h that fast anyway.
So I suppose for an MPV, the EB's performance is considered decent already 

I saw the video few times, and learned that at 100kmh, the engine is at 4.5k RPM.
From what I was told, this turbo starting to lose some boost at RPM >4k. We'll need a boost meter, or the OBD2 to tell.
After that, I think you release the accelerator at 130kmh, as observed from the RPM dropping from 5k to 4k before rising again. So, I think 17s for 100-150kmh is not as accurate as it can be, could be less.

When I get my OBD2, a few things I'll pay attention to, if available:
- boost pressure
- AFR
- fuel trim - ECU is long known to 'learn' the driver's habit. So, a car should not be driven by 2 or more drivers
- etc etc... whichever makes more meaning to my end goal

For a BUDGET MPV, certainly very decent. 
Just asking opinions, I plan to replace the front seats to stop that annoying "freeplay" sounds and also because my dad complains the seat isn't comfortable for him, compared to his car. Was thinking of recaro sr-11. Is that a good fit for exora, and anyone tried long drives in seats like that?

Have you retried? Maybe some error, or turbo lost pressure.
Makes me want to try mine to confirm...

putramon I think need to modify the reclining mechanism, or just some lapik at the mounting. Let me find out more, and update.

mandrew I ordered the mini version, and I hope it has no problem, especially worried about it getting overheated and hang.

Today check tyre pressure, dropped to 30psi after a month, all 4 tyres.
No wonder the acceleration FC increased by 2L. This car really sensitive to tyre pressure.

Also, do you guys notice the turbo whistling sound when you drive?
In my case, sometimes when I accelerate steadily, the turbo whistle will come and go.

Another tip during uphill driving: If you're stuck behind a lorry, and you're climbing real slow at steady speed, turn on the SAT mode, to improve FC. In my case, at ~40kmh, RPM dropped to 1.6k. When you need to accelerate, then switch off SAT mode.

For highway driving, during steady cruising, SAT mode saves fuel better than CVT.

Update to my experiment with cat-removed exhaust (on my other experiment NA car), normal mileage per tank is 370km. I replaced the extractor to non-cat during half tank mark after 250km, and now the car already at 370km, with another 5% left. Until the next refuel, I will confirm if will change Exora downpipe to non-cat.

One concern is that there are two O2 sensors, each located before and after the CAT. When the sensors do not detect a change in O2 level between them, it would assume CAT malfunction and trigger CEL. I'll update with more findings.

I too, think that the 100-150km/h time could be less, especially considering that I did not turn off the air conditioning.
The rpm did drop a bit although I am certain that I floored the pedal throughout. CVT gearbox characteristic, maybe?

I didn't look at the vid earlier... just looking at the figure.
On the CVT, i got to know that it behaves quite peculiarly where it disallows the engine to 'redline'. Yeah i know it's not a race car but I'm curious on how much that affects the turbo spool.

I think Exora Bold is the best value product proton has to offer right now although there's still a lot of room for improvement. Minor things are like fit & finish and overall built... but it all adds up. Hoping for huge leap in quality for the next gen. I'm not too obsessed with badge prestige and willing to pay > rm100k for a proton, provided it's good enough.
