hmm.gif Oh no when u all motioned over crank mean more than 3 times  rclxub.gif
For my case is any morning start more than 2 crank then I will consider overcrank. To me even my old old Waja also need only 1 crank to start & I can't really tolerate with more than 1 for my 6 months old EB.

As for my case my SC at Gopeng(Ipoh) put up my complaint into their "MRR" reporting system, was told to clean up the carbon/contaminant at the engine or throttle compartment!! (can't recall cos this was not reflect in the service summary). Since then my EB can start with only 1 crank for the past 1 week++ ....

Hope no more overcrank    rclxms.gif  rclxm9.gif

When I complained about overcrank to CoSE during my 10k km service, they diagnose with ECU update but overcrank still occurs.

Definitely will request for the carbon clean up during my next service. Hopefully can fix doh.gif

You should CONTINUE give them feedbak & updated them that they have yet to resolve the overcrank issued, asked them to adv what to do next to have this resolved. Last time I also compliant to them right after my 6K service & went back to check but can't find any abnormality then claimed my Brake safety lock causes all this nonsense... Till I raise my voice only then the foremen asked to log into "MRR" to get adv for next course of action.

Since your EB need more them 3 times to overcrank frequently, why don't you video/sound record it & show to them during the complaint?? This will definitely help to speed up the troubleshooting I think.. wink.gif

Can you record your 1-time crank and engine start?

Finally able to record a video of the over crank happening.

I tried to crank the first time and the engine wasn't able to start up, I stopped after 4 cranks.
Quickly grabbed my camera to record the second start up try.

This happened at 9.30am in the morning, the weather was quite cold as it has been raining the past night.

Normal start up requires only 2-3 cranks. Over crank at least 6+ cranks for engine to start up.

Engine is able to start up after over crank, but feels very weak and will usually die, unless the accelerator pedal is stepped.

This has been happening ever since the first 1000km service. Recently had my ECU updated during my 10000km service as it was reported that the problem would be solved with the update, but obviously it has not been fixed.

Age of vehicle : 11 months
Mileage : 12000 km

Its sound like weak battery for me. Need few crank to overcome inertia. The battery may dead soon. Check the voltage in the morning. For Calcium-calcium maintenance free battery should be >12.8V. For wet battery, the minimum voltage should be > 12.6volt. I noticed water level in one of the cell in my "maintenance free" (the one closest to the engine) evaporate much faster than other and causing the over crank.

That's good & you should shown this to the service center & have them seriously look into your problems. Told them if they can't have this resolved then escalated to Proton Headquarter.

Guys,

For me i always practice to crank AFTER the warning signals go off - abs & airbag warnings! Been doing tis with my old cars - Wira, Spectra, Optima. So far soo good. Only start up @ the 1st crank. Only twice got issues with my EB but in that case the 'gearbox' warning sign came off. After reflushing the ECU its now ok.

Just my 2 cents...

Yeah, that's what I used to do also. I even wait for the fuel pump priming process (the 'zzzzt' sound) to complete.

But, for past 2~3 months, I'd just turn on, wait 2 seconds, and start... no problem despite fuel pump still running and ABS lights still on... let it warm up for a while then drive. It's sort of a guinea pig thing to contradict myself, and so far the car starts and runs fine.

On or off, doesn't matter, as long as engine not running.

For the readings below, I took them from the voltmeter on my 2F cap:
- 12.6~12.8V - After leaving the car overnight.
- 13.4 - After engine switch off.
- 13.8V - During running.
- When aircon compressor turn on, it will dip to 10.8V for a short while. You will observe car headlight will dim.

The more important part is voltage during engine cranking, which should stay above 10V.
Using OBD2, in the Torque app, enable the voltage reading using 'graph' mode. After you crank, take a screenshot and look at the lowest peak voltage reading. Good luck.

Thanks for the info bro.

Will try it out tomorrow morning and report back smile.gif

I used to do that ever since I got my EB. I used to wait until all the warning lights go off before cranking.

But even so, my over crank problem occurs even if I wait. Thats why I choose not to bother anymore since it doesn't make any difference laugh.gif
