All rite... Just came back from LYP today (yeah went from Ipoh to there tongue.gif...no la.. went to KL for other important stuff) and I got myself an X2 3800+ AM2 for RM565 (proc only) from Sri Comp. I had only two to choice and went with a week 28 (the other one was week 25). Can't wait to hook it up on my LP nF590 SLI-M2R for some overclocking action... wink.gif

Btw, screw those shops that listed RM555 for the X2 3800+. All those who listed that price is only applicable with mobo bundle... bah! AMD should really know about this... If we really need a mobo, we won't buy from them ah? Why must force ppl to buy the CPU+mobo bundle to get the CPU at RM555? Maybe they can jack up the mobo price when bundle... sigh

Anyways, RM565 is the best price I got for the X2 3800+ AM2 CPU (w/o mobo). I know there's a bashing thread going on about Sri Comp here but the sales person who dealt with me was pretty cool... I even gave him some tips on how to read the CPU codes wink.gif One of the shops thought I was a n00b and quoted me RM580!

P/S: Actually I went to LYP to get a 20" w/screen LCD but ended up with an X2. The reason was because I had a feeling that the LCD prices will drop even greater by end of this year...

CPU = 2.5Ghz
FSB = 250Mhz
Tem = 60c

Any idea do better?

haha i got same peak as urs.. now considering better cooler if the cpu can go even further with less voltage.. if can go until 2.8g.. i don't mind to invest on better cooler...
actually i'm quite happy with 245 now.. the temp not so bad and even stable for all application.. heavy task just on gaming which also not fully utilize it..

some tips for u.. i think ur ram can set to 1T.. 4-4-4-12..with 1.8v
with ur timming i manage to get 800ddr.. with 1.95v..
so pick urs.. for me.. i like to play with tight timing..

@pcmoddingmy
lyp shops like that.. last time i bought x2 3600+, the price in the list is just for bundle.. after some survey they normally add up RM5-10...
that day everage shop selling @ RM455-460.. if add more RM5-10 sure more expensive..
luckily big computers (viewnet) selling @ RM444.. but quote RM454 for cpu alone..
so i nego i got RM450 for X2 3600+ the price for the last 1-2 months..

i need help please.

i'm new in the computer world. but i have done some research myself for the past year.
two days ago i bought me a new rig am2 x2 3600+ and gigabyte ga-m51gm-s2g.
i want to overclock it by upto 30% only coz i feel my previos rig is much faster than this inspite of being a dual core cpu.

my problem is i cant seem to find anything in the bios to help me overclock it even a little. the only thing i can find is the memory timings which only appears after pressing CTRL+F1. other than that, no more.

can anyone help me?

which bios has the option on increasing the fsb, multiplier setting, memory timing adjustment and so on?

currently my bios version if F5.

thanks!

budget is everything...

@fantasy_kenny
how come u manage to clock 2.8g using default voltage? u set it auto or manually in the bios?

as the pic i'm refering the cpuz reading.. but for my case i cannot rely on it.. i put 1.4v in the bios but cpuz reported 1.2v..

if really can do higher speed with less voltage... maybe i should get a better cooler to reduce the temp..

i think is board issue...

my nF590 SLI-M2R i set is CPU code 1.35v...but CPU-Z detect 1.36v....

that's should ok coz sometimes the voltage even flunctuate..

but for my case using asus probe (the mobo utility) and also speedfan give a right voltage.. so i suspected cpuz gave a error readings..

i'm no worry about the voltage.. just curious whether good cooler can make my cpu speed higher.. coz i believe my cpu also fall in to the same week/batch as most forummer here.. so should be able to clock same as urs.. just a matter of good cooler..

Ya... None air-conditioning room, temp quite high... Can do 2.8Ghz with higher CPU & DRAM voltage and stock HSF, temp would go even higher although Priming for 8 hours stable... Only concerned now is the voltage shown in Smart Guardian seems a bit weird, BIOS set higher then the one shown in Smart Guardian, like the voltage couldn't pump into the mobo and need to adjust to higher volt to force in...? Dunno whether there's any issue with the mobo..? sad.gif

As far as I know, C-zone is one of the only few shops that displays 'actual' price list. Not sure whether you checked them out or not.

Been there, done that....
Yeah... their price list = actual price, but there's a small remarks "*All AM2 must bundle"
Then they told me "If CPU alone, price will be RM570!" shakehead.gif

Btw im new to a64 oc architecture and i got confuse with so many settings in DRAM configuration and divider and the HTT link multi.How to read the multi table in the first post.

Current setting :
[*] HTT multi = 2
[*] Ram divider = DDR667

I would recommend Freezer64 Pro as well....cost half the price of Zalman and performs just a little less. Quiet as well.

I don't really favour Scythe... they're enermous and heavy.

CPU : At that setting, I would recommend to use HTT multi 3x. It is best to keep the hypertransport as near to 1000MHz as possible, not too low or not too high.

RAM : At that speed, I believe you can do 4-4-4-12 easily. Try let other timing s at AUTO first and run it at CL4. Then, memtest it (preferrably DOS memtest).

found OCZ Tempest..
http://www.xsreviews.co.uk/reviews-66-page5.html

most of the review afraid to reach 60C... but here lyn ppl crazy enough to do more than 60C.. lol..

@Algojo
nice ram u got there.. better for u to browse back and study how to calculate the ram divider..
maybe u can try ~320fsb and ram divider set to 533..
320 x 9 = 2880mhz

2880 / 7 (533ddr divider as table on the first page for 9 cpu mul) = 411
maybe can tight the ram timing a bit...

put htt mul 3

if u crazy enough can put 350fsb.. if kaboom don't blame me.. lol...
