Just wanna make sure something, is my OC method correct? Using AMD 3000+, Gigabyte S2G and 667 1GB RAM. Noob in this OC stuff
Here is what I do at BIOS: 1. HT set to x4 = 800MHz 2. Set DDR 667 to 400 -> ratio 1:1 3. Multiplier x9 4. Increase core speed by 10MHz maybe 5. Load windows 6. Check stability with OCCT, cpuz and also CBId (didn't support vista I manage to do until 256x9 = 2304MHz. Stable and didn't really have the guts to do further since I'm only using stock HSF. |

QUOTE(soulfly @ Mar 21 2007, 11:41 AM) High end MSI is also good, but not those midrange or low ends. Biostar Tforce 550 is it ok for OC? How does V would affect OC? What's the max OC for 3000+ and 3800+? How do we know we've reached their limit? How high HT Link can go?kalakatu: how do we know which version of the biostar? is there any indication on the box? actually i prefer the Tforce series bios than the DFI Infinity bios because TForce actually has more option for memory setting compare to Infinity. But Infinity provides up to 2.5V This post has been edited by afosz: Mar 21 2007, 12:24 PM |

QUOTE(soulfly @ Mar 21 2007, 01:24 PM) post #2064. That's my method of early learning in OC (read it somewhere for Gigabyte S2G). And of course, I want to know more and already done all the readings but some of them can't get into my head |

Noob OC guide for Gigabyte S2G (not recommended for OC, lack of features)
http://www.driverheaven.net/overclocking-m...ingle-core.html However is it reliable? At least for someone who starting to learn in OC stuff like me |

QUOTE(soulfly @ Mar 21 2007, 11:10 PM) obviously lack of features means limitation. i would rather straight go for biostar even if i'm a noob. you just don't learn anything with a barely usable mobo. What I meant is that I bought this mobo last year and starting to know and learn about oc this year. If I have the current knowledge back then, I'd go for Biostar as well |

Opteron AM2, will it fit any AM2 mobo or does it need the mobo to support Opteron so? How's the performance cause I saw some using it (939), although it is a server processor

The board is
QUOTE Biostar T-Series TA690G AM2, based on the latest AMD 690G Chipset with integrated ATI Radeon X1250 graphics. The most distinguishing feature of TA690G AM2 is the on-board graphic with maximum memory share up to 512MB. Source This post has been edited by afosz: Mar 25 2007, 12:59 PM |

Don't trust cpu-z? Then what to trust?
Check cpu-z after complete calculating SuperPI |
