The 980s all have coil whine too. Dude, coil whine will happen irregardless of what you buy. You either get a very annoying, unbearable coil whine or you get a card that has almost inaudible whine, it's pretty much lottery.

Cheapest 980 is the reference 980, RM2050 IINM. It's certainly not RM500-RM700 faster than the 970, price-performance wise.

fuh, rm500-rm700 is too much.

after reading a bit, i'm setting my eyes on the gigabyte 970. its been quite a while not having any gigabyte stuff in my rig.

now to look around sellers that have them in stock.

Seasonic M12 Evo 120 + Gainward Phantom 970 here. No coil whine during stress tests.

Better make sure you have enough space (length wise) in your casing before jumping for the G1. Many users has already bought the G1 just to find out it doesn't fit in their case.

currently using cm storm sniper housing gtx680 dcu2 top. still got clearance. will the corsair 540 air casing fit?

yes the gpu clearance of corsair 540 air is 320mm, gigabyte g1 970 is 312mm long. it will fit but barely.

8mm space is very small, even at around 18mm clearance, took me sometime to put my gpu inside my case.

so it is better to buy cases with removable hdd cage, if not gotta mod that drive cage duh .

hi currently i using GTX970 and will be getting another gtx970 tomorrow..hope can play unity and farcry4 ultra with 4k resolution..do you think i can make it?

No news of the gigabyte mini 970 coming to malaysia? Been trawling the garage sales but nothing comes up.

Nope unless you disable other stuff like tesselation, depth of field, HDR and options like that.

Possible for FC4 but not Unity unless you're planning to play on hideous setting.

Regarding the coil whine, on my card it did have a sound when I first bought it but after some time the noise reduced significantly. There are some noise at very high framerate typically on menu screen (try F.E.A.R or Crysis main menu). Other than that its pretty much silent.
