yea, I am sure I spent on weekend only using Amex.
Haha, this is the first month I start using this card.
This means that next month only got the 5% rebate, not directly show in every statement?

The rebate is given on the 1st of every month

Why is Maybank so confusing - I have a credit card with another bank and the rebate is calculated instantly at time of posting. I don't have to wait for the 1st of the month to see my rebate. Why can't they do this?

And listing MBB AMEX 4x BONUS instead of the 5x they keep advertising everywhere is bound to create confusion as well...

Those who don't check Lowyat will just call CS and mess up the call stats, frustrate other customers because of the call queue & agitate the CSO because they have to keep repeating the same thing over & over again.

So much for being the #1 retail bank in Malaysia.

I believe banks have their way to calculate the rebate; some have different cut off date, some follow statement date, while some only show after you have reached certain threshold. And I'm quite sure the 4x BONUS is correct, since 1+4 = 5 pts.

Well, banks can't decide what they should do without prior information - they should go the logical way and not follow how their system is designed. If their system is doing the calculations later, then they should change it because they're serving the customer not the other way around. Otherwise, they should list it down or train their staff to inform applicants because right now I don't see any rebate as advertised. I feel cheated now. And I'm going to feel cheated until the 1st of March.

Yes I know it's correct - but a customer wants to see 5x points not a 4x + 1x points on their statement. If they want to make it 4x + 1x points then they better advertise it the same way they put it on the statement.

Why do you think MBB should follow other banks and not the other way around.... ???
HLB WISE is even worse... you have to wait +1 month before you can see the 10% rebate. i.e. Jan rebate credit on 28 Feb

If you don't like it why you apply?
you cancel the card right away and apply other bank that suit your style...
nobody forcing you to use this system....

instead of adapting to the system, but you want MBB to adapt to your style?
if the system is so confusing, surely a lot ppl complaint and MBB might change the system...
but the case is not...mean everyone adapting and no problem using the system at all...

I don't see anything wrong with their system. At the end of the day as long as I get my rebate and see my points increase accordingly, I'm happy.

You have to understand that every bank has their own system and procedures.
Banks won't entertain such complains, it's customers who have to adapt to it.
If you think it's inconvenient to your lifestyle, you can always choose to terminate it and get other cards

agreed with cherriedpie on the notion that the product should be friendly, transparent, and straightforward.

any good product have these attributes in mind when they developed the product. sadly, not many companies enphasize on these. however, a very good example is Apple smile.gif

ok back to cards. tongue.gif

warning: tl;dr

these banks doesnt bother (much) on user-friendliness in using their cards. heck, i sense these product managers are even geeks/nerds tongue.gif the way they design the cards' features, it's almost designed for rocket scientists, rather than for papa/mama.

at one part, it's the long-standing legacy systems used by most banks. most been used for decades, some maybe newer (e.g. recently core systems upgrade carried out by CIMB during CNY 2014).

the cards behaved such way because they are "working around" the system limitations.

for example mbb2amex gives 1x+4x TP. my best guess is the 1x is the base TP logic designed much earlier for their Reward program. when mbb2card launched with 5x (or any other promos), instead of messing up the 1x TP logic, they added the bonus TP instead. effectively, users still get 5X. however, the workaround confuses the users when they view the TPs in bill statements (yep, i couldnt wrap my puny brains viewing that too. as mgb suggested above, as long as the correct TPs are credited, i'm fine with it.

considering there are millions of mbb card users, tweaking the system logic or even the bill statements have larger impacts, for the better or worse.

too bad, they dont have (any?) budget for A/B testing or focus group, to see which feature works or which dont. they ASSUME the cards will be well acceped, but no one card can fit all type of users with infinite spending behavior.

HLB Wise has the highest CB but also the hardest entry barrier to qualify for CB (10x RM50 trx qualifier, RM100 cap, seleced categories, etc.).

MBB2Card has a decent CB but also have certain barrier (weekend use only, RM50 cap, unlimited categories, etc.)

so on and so on.

and back to Apple. their products are friendly. nice. sleek. elegant. yet i still never own any iDevices in my lifetime. period. why? cuz i hate it. too conformed to its Apple DNA. yuck! tongue.gif tongue.gif so i choose android instead. Samsung previously, now "converted" to Nexus 5.

so choices are there. adapt with it or make alternate choice smile.gif at least we have tens of cards available to cater any type of users.

at the page where you select your payment method and key in your cc number, above it has an option whether to pay now or pay later. by default, it's selected pay now, so if you did not change it, you will be charged immediately.

Sometime it could be multiple transaction to the same payee or merchant. It may have triggered for fraud alarm.

Better call CS for clarification.

I know MyEG is one of them under this category.
