ok ok.. you're right.  It's not that the B can't be used for more than 10km daily, of course it can.
It depends on the cyclist.

As it turns out, I was using a under-geared XDS FA 16 inch to cycle the 12km PJ- KL- PJ route and found that its still ok.  Of course I would prefer the higher gearing on the more expensive bikes like the Brompton.  So its a matter of budget and rider capability.

Eventually, I use the 20 inch Tern to go the distance much faster.

And probably by year's end, I will get the Brompton to ride daily to work.

Bro how did you manage the sweat problem? I'm planning to do that once I get my 20" foldie, but more of a cycle - bus - cycle thingy than full cycling. Expected to cover around 5km in total. Hopefully won't get too sweaty co's i dun wanna be spending time showering in office (eventhough they got facility)

That's great to save petrol, parking and get some exercise.

First, I wear a quick drying sport Tshirt, any good brand will do, adidas, nike, reebok, etc and my normal office long pants.
Morning start from SEA Park area about 9:10am. go towards Asia Jaya, use the bike lane and turn off to Jln Pantai Baru. Then to Jln Bangsar, Jln Tun Sambanthan, then past Central market. reach office building car /bike park about 9:55am.

lock up bike, cool down with drink. Still have my T-Shirt on. I use a small towel, wet it with water and wipe down my arms, face, neck and upper body of the sweat. I then use a foldable fan, quite large one to fan myself and this will feel cold in fact due to the wet skin. So will cool down quite fast this way. After skin dries up, I can then wear my office long sleeve shirt over my T-Shirt.

Pack up things, go past security and head to the toilet upstairs, in there you can freshen up further, change out your sports shirt and put in bag. Even use the foldable fan to further cool down. My best purchase so far is the fan!

I must mention that I do not require any shower at all. But it feels the same as if you have just showered, fresh and cool. Most important for me is the cold drinks in my bag. Cold water never feels any better than this.

good luck

cheers.

Nope. Just another office worker like you. But have flexi hours. Also if too early, the bike lane on Fed Highway is very dangerous, too many motorcycles. In this case use Universiti Malaya to go KL.

No I am not a retired cyclist. In fact I am very active and many forummers here have joined me for rides. I just retired from posting here, except for this one to clarify. Those who needs assistance can PM me if they want and I will reply. Happy Riding! icon_rolleyes.gif

Got myself and wife XDS AFB 270 yesterday, with a nice front-load baby seat on my one. Easy to remove the seat for folding. Tried riding a bit, handlebar really quite twitchy compared to old bike. Can get used to though, I think. In any case, first foldie!

Besides this thread, where does this community hang out? I've read most of this thread and some of V2, saw some FB groups mentioned but most seem more like 'announce this event' type. I suppose most cyclists meet face-to-face rather than online anyway?

Yeah always see people summon him for this or that when reading the thread =p

Anyway, a few questions which I now think about.

1. KTM cannot bring bike in without bag right? What about LRT?

2. Any recommendation for a budget folding bike bag? Saw one for RM55 on mikebikeshop on facebook, anyone got experience with that seller?

3. Also looking for bike lock, but when I google search I shocking.gif seeing how useless even the expensive locks are... and my bike both front and rear tyres are quick-release (easier to steal?)... of course its not a very canggih bike but if so easy won't people just grab and go? US blogs recommend 2 locks, but I think getting 2 locks will already weigh too much?

4. Sunway Pyramid got any bicycle parking? I ride moto so I know where the motor parking is. What about other shopping malls (except 1U, I've seen the bike parking outdoors there)

New wing outside. The cars drive in through the traffic light right? Then its just before the entrance ramp to go to upper-floor parking. Saw a bunch of kids parking there when I dropped my wife off recently.
