QUOTE(StarScream01 @ Jul 19 2014, 05:05 PM) do you think this is a good deal if buy online? will it come assembled or not assembled? I don't know if it is a good deal because I've yet to check out at Rodalink retail outlet. But I can confirm that the bike will be assembled before they send it to your doorstep.buy online can choose to inspect and collect the goods in store? I am also not sure if you can self collect from their store if you buy online but I think this can be arranged separately by calling Rodalink office after making your purchase. |

Any recommendation for a foldie <1k? Prefer lightweight as possible, and not flimsy.
EDIT: how good is the Geometric brand? Can't find it mentioned here but seems quite light. This post has been edited by LostAndFound: Jul 20 2014, 03:24 PM |

Me n missus haven't rode the Boardwalk D8 much and have now decided to upgrade the rear drive train. Wasn't satisfied with the stock:
- Neos 8 speed RD and drive train. Shifting very muted, not crisp and inaccurate. Hated the reverse shift operation. - Wheelset not stiff enough and freehub is very tight/binding causing lots of drag when free wheeling Upgrade parts for the day: - Dahon RD adapter for Boardwalk D8, got it from GW Cycle Boutique - Shimano XTR 10 speed RD medium cage (was on sale for 50% at rodalink), no clucth mechanism - Deore 10 speed left + right shifters. Only needed right/rear shifter but need to buy as a pair - Deore 10 speed chain - Selle Royal mano moderate grips to replace the stock grips - Shimano 105 10 speed road cassette 12-27, already have this item in my stash Bought the items from Rodalink Botanic and at the same time a big thank you to them for allowing me to use their tools and work area to do the upgrade myself! Lovely place with all the tools available. Now loving the very light, fast and crisp shifting of the XTR rear mech. ![]() ![]() ![]() Now time to go search for a reasonable priced wheelset (sealed bearing hub, double wall rims). Think I can live with the front stock cranks for now. This post has been edited by eohl79: Jul 20 2014, 06:50 PM |

QUOTE(numbertwo @ Jul 9 2014, 09:33 PM) Initially i set a budget of 500-700, but that doesn't get me much choices.. The garion (http://www.thebasikal.com/product/garion-folding-bike/) or the Raleigh UGO is quite 'Near' to that but if you raise a couple more hundred(s) you will have more choices.. Thanks for your feedback if you are from Penang, check this guy out maybe? He has the cheapest Java Fit on offer : http://www.bicyclebuysell.com/item/249435/...pec-as-java-fit But still, having a bad time in making the final choice. Too bad QUOTE(2kia @ Jul 9 2014, 11:34 PM) Go to Lim Bicycle opposite Sunshine square, great selections, service n price Hi there, I did went to Lim Bicycle previously, thanks for the suggestion unless u're looking for Dahon or Tern then most likely u'd have to go Chin Aik at Carnarvon street Planning to go to Chin Aik and those at town area soon ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Need some feedback for the following : 1)What do you guys think about XDS AFB630 & AFB270 & FA16? 2)Other than that, do you guys aware of any foldable bicycles with matte silver blue/black color? Matte silver blue/black is one of the color choice for XDS FA16 model. .Milo This post has been edited by milopark: Jul 20 2014, 08:22 PM |

QUOTE(whateva2k @ Jul 13 2014, 02:23 PM) There really isn't a perfect folding bike out there, is there? You have invested like what 15k there, still there is not one that can fit all your needs. Looks like one really needs to own a few to fulfil one's needs. QUOTE(skidd @ Jul 13 2014, 10:52 AM) tern verge p20 = quality parts , fast (nice hill climb) Well skidd really has got the answers for you as he has all the bikes most of us would want.brompton M6L= nice cilok bike ( maneuver in small & tight places like cars in traffic ) small & compact fold but not fast (need strong legs to climb) To be sure, the B is good for mixed mode or multimode commuting, probably for the last 3 to 4 km once out from the train. But its not a fast ride compared to the Dahons or Terns. probably due to the weight and the smaller wheels. If you want to ride more than 10 km daily without using public transport, then the Dahon or Tern As the folding compactness and portability will lose to B. But the speedy 20" Dahons or Terns will be more desirable for the distances. If less than 6km daily, and used with public transport, the B is preferable. Would be ideal if you can have both folders as there are distinct differences, each with their own pros and cons. This post has been edited by budgee: Jul 20 2014, 10:59 PM |

QUOTE(blur_blue @ Jul 21 2014, 10:22 AM) Guys, I'm not an expert but I'm looking for bikes in this price range as well. The Dahon seems to be out of stock according to website. And its hi-tensile steel so maybe a bit heavier? What would be your pick given these two? Dahon http://www.usjcycles.com/dahon-folding-bike-vybe-c7s-2013/ XDS http://www.usjcycles.com/folding-bike-xds-afb-180/ I'm looking at XDS 270 myself. RM949 at usjcycles, RM880 quoted to me at a shop at SS14 (not the Lerun shop). Doesn't have the 5-year frame warranty that usjcycles advertises big big in the shop though. For what its worth. |

Plan to drop by the one in BU4 since it's super near my house... |

I'm stay in between cheras and ampang where is the nearer place best for cycling. It is China made and not original Hummer. Original Hummer is made so strong that you can throw it from a helicopter. China Hummer is using low quality aluminium for its body but I've tried it and its fine for normal on the road riding. I liked it. |

QUOTE(eraserwke @ Jul 18 2014, 10:13 AM) Mind sharing how big the box was, and how much was shipping alone? Planning to buy rims from taobao but I'm not sure how much shipping will be. just did some calculation..if u buy the rims spoke n hubs together n build here, it will be cheaper by air, provided all these items from same selller n he pack it tight. if fully built wheels pack together.... u need to lookout for the minimum vol charge for sea freight... some agent min is 0.3 m3 thats over rm 150... some agent min 0.1m3 rm 65.. vol for fully built wheels 20in x 2 will not exceed 0.1m3 most probably.... |

It's not that the B can't be used for more than 10km daily, of course it can.We have took our B out for much more than the stipulated distance. It depends on the cyclist. As it turns out, I was using a under-geared XDS FA 16 inch to cycle the 12km PJ- KL- PJ route and found that its still ok. Of course I would prefer the higher gearing on the more expensive bikes like the Brompton. So its a matter of budget and rider capability. Eventually, I use the 20 inch Tern to go the distance much faster. And probably by year's end, I will get the Brompton to ride daily to work. |
