have collected about 200k EM... holding redemption until the new J class is implemented next year... after that i'm thinking which of the 3 FF to transfer points to... EM flights quite limited, SQ always on waitlist and from my research of AM, it's good for travelling up north (as transit point in HKG) but for southern part travel or westwards abit awkward and hard to get flights... Correct me if i'm wrong..

Which FFP are you guys transferring points to? For work, i'm only able to take AA so i'm not really earning miles for actual flights. Points come from CC points which can earn quite a bit due ot company charges to card.

CX tend to be more generous to partner redemption and Only opened up the seats to MPO closer to the date. You are better chance to clear your wait list if you are a DM

My friend is MPC Gold, also be putting into waiting list.
He is still unaware of MPC new changes in 2016, haha

With the changes to AA redemption chart, everything should be ease by then.

My 2 sen (for what it's worth):

EM: I'm also holding out for the new J class. Want to avoid LHR due to excessive taxes so KUL-LHR on the A380 does not appeal much for now.

KF: For SQ, I've saved up for Suites and departing Changi to experience The Private Room. Have flown First Class on SQ before, just not suites. Re waitlist I found that half of mine cleared while other times I just bit the bullet and paid more miles. Suites have been overshadowed by Etihad's Residence and Apartments, and to a lesser degree, QR and EK A380 First class products. We might have access to EK soon via EM. As for QR, we have AsiaMiles. Note other Star Alliance members can be experienced with your KF miles. Ones I've tried and fancy are Eva Air, Thai Airways and Lufthansa.

AM: For CX, I agree with all that you mentioned. Some destinations are not covered well by CX while availability for First Class seats in pairs are very hard to come by (for me at least). Not surprising since there are only 6 seats in the cabin and you can bet that any First Class seats made available closer to departure date will be snapped up by elite status members upgrading with miles from J class. Even for J class, some routes are near impossible to find 2 or more award seats. Also not surprising, given that CX J is comparable to some airline's F, at least in my opinion. However, through the multi-carrier award redemption route, you can experience BA, QR and other oneworld alliance members for minimal miles, like our bro herc. Be prepared to be on the phone for a long time though.

I'm like you, I don't really earn miles through actual flying. Now if someone can tell me how I can redeem Etihad award seats through Malaysian based CC churning I would be a happy man.

Do some research and you will know what I mean... AA used to and still grab most of CX F redemption inventories. Their redemption rate are 30% lower on CX than CX own MPO members...

AA revised its redemption chart recently but still they have tier bonus on earn points

Heh I'm one of those grabbing CX F seats using AA miles biggrin.gif It was good while it lasted, now it's almost equivalent between AM and AA, oh well.

how you book the multi-carrier award? can share abit?

i heard many says AM award got limited availability, so i tried myself at AM portal to redeem CX flight, KUL-LHR always says "closed" or waiting list..
*
AM is best if u could find CX flight, but some route is close to impossible to get unless u book almost a year advance.

Their popular route are HKG > LHR/CDG/FRA/and most US city.

U need to call up AM customer service for the 'fastest' service, which normally took an hour more.

My coming flight route is flying J from KUL(KA)-oHKG(CX)-PVG//PEK(MH)-oKUL(MH)-oLHR(BA)-oLIS(IB)-MAD//BCN(QF)-xDOH(QF)-KUL, 4o 1x 2//, some error happened when I opt for MH PEN-KUL so I couldn't fully utilize the max for OWMC award.

It was a mistake to take KUL-LHR via MH, should opt for BA instead

Wow, do share when you have time. Won't mind to have some ideas. I've got QR F A380 lined up as my next AM redemption. Still no idea how to get Etihad Apartments without a US based credit card.

43230 miles

KUL-xHKG(JL)-KIX//NRT-oHKG-AMS//FRA-oHKG-oAKL(NZ)-oHKG-oSFO-xHKG-KUL

Then buy/redeem HKG-KUL 3 times, separately

Just that I not sure can Air New Zealand included in One World multi carrier award cause it's not part of the One World Alliance. That's the rough idea anyway, plan based on least YQ tongue.gif

i am looking at this partner award chart from MH, why redeem partner F class is much cheaper than MH? (compare Zone 5 for return trip)

It was actually on multiple levels.

1. it's relatively easier to earn AAdvantage miles compared to CX, particularly on domestic flights. Lots of options for bonus miles once you hit certain levels.

2. it's easier to get AAdvantage miles via credit card spend too, not as lucrative as the Premiere cards here and AM/KF but still

3. there are also many opportunities to earn AAdvantage miles via sign up bonuses. It's the competitive consumer environment in the US that encourages this, people take advantage of it.

This is how people easily earn millions of AAdvantage miles, putting actual MPO members at a huge disadvantage when redeeming miles in the premium cabin. One "loophole" has closed, but the three above are still open...

yes, i followed some the US blogger "The Points Guy", alot of US credit card he recommended are offering huge sign up bonus, about 50k bonus miles per card..

talking about easy to earn miles, before the new 2016 changes to AA, their current accrual system actually accrue more miles than MH. I was planning a trip to US, taking AA flight all V class.

MH only gets 50% base miles for AA V fare, while AA gets 100% base miles for its V fare (before the 2016 new AA system i mean)

but no point to maintain too many FFP, so i decided put it to enrich.

BA is using their 787 now, if not, MH would be way better IMO.

I'm a frequent travel for CX but up to this point even Asia miles redeem I did not get a chance for seat upgrade.

Any thing I'm missing out?

Apologies it may go off topic.

If CX lounge is nothing special at all, I am afraid you will be equally disappointed with Flight Club as well. Based on Lounge Index review, CX lounge should be quite decent, http://loungeindex.com/Asia/Malaysia/KUL/C...ounge/index.htm

I will check out this lounge on my next trip in January  brows.gif

the food bar looks exactly like the 1 i visited in Penang, simple salad, bakery and maggie instant cup noodle! PPL is much more better than it. I end up walk to PPL next door for a warm breakfast.

As *A Gold and OW Sapphire the only lounges I haven't been to in KLIA is Emirates & Flight Club. My personal favorite is the CX lounge. Mainly for the booze tongue.gif Food is pretty good too, depending on what time you go (Bfast or Dinner is when they have a full spread ... Lunch (1100-1600) and Evening ( 2000- 2300? ) is so-so )

It really depends what you're looking for in a lounge: food, powerpoints, guest access, showers etc

The premier lounge are getting better than the current Golden lounge at KLIA. Golden lounge used to be a must go for me if i reach early, now it's shitty.
*
MH lounges have been on a decline since 2013. Now even at KLIA (flagship) all booze has to be "ordered" ... even tinned beer , furniture is dirty and food choices rarely change apart from the monthly menu @ Noodle bar. Even then the food quality/taste is sweat.gif

Just waiting for news on what the new MH-EK tie up is about

May I know you got OW Sapphire through Malaysia Airlines or other OW carriers? My understanding is that I could use my Enrich Gold to enter CX Lounge in KLIA so long as I am flying with any OW alliances? Is it really true?

I hate the Golden Lounge, think it is overrated, crowded and the washrooms are really world class mad.gif

yes, got my OW status with MH. CX allows you to bring a guest as well as long as they are also flying on a OW Carrier (doesn't have to be the same flight).

If I have time/feeling bored, I'll usually lounge hop between MH Regional (just skip the MH Lounge at Satellite) , CX and PPL

Go Emerald and you will prefer Golden Lounge first side.
