QUOTE(VerdictReview @ Feb 17 2014, 04:08 AM)
Recently I can't stand the way Carrick play. He too negative on attacking and tracking back for defensive really poor.
Moyes should try Kagawa and put him as CM and Jones or Fletcher as DM
While Mata should be as AMF he is not fast enough to be winger.Set the game around Mata as his passing is masterpiece
*
Actually if you look at the video clip, Carrick had 3 mates in front of him who were being marked by 4-5 Arsenal players, so it's logical he passed it to Cleverley because he was facing sideway. Then Cleverley actually had a lot space to maneuver (pass to wide right) but chose to back pass again. To me, Cleverley was the most negative minded midfielder we have. He just doesn't hold on to the ball and bring forward play. shakehead.gif

still better than lying in midtable position.... whistling.gif

Exactly. Even though we didn't win back then but at least we were within Top 3 spot, not 7th. doh.gif

Agree much. Rooney is that type of player that suits the United's "Never Say Die" spirit. He hates losing, more than anybody else. Even though his off-the-field antics are questionable especially the transfer request, but you couldn't doubt his commitment on the pitch when wearing a United shirt. He just gave it all, even during this down period when other players just sort of "gave up" the fighting spirit. If Rooney leaves in the summer, whoever is in charge will take even longer time to rebuild this team because he will need to find another core of the team. cool2.gif

Not too TLDR...but still TLDR...so TFLDFR...

http://espnfc.com/blog/_/name/manchesterun...id/4338?cc=4716

In 2003-04, United finished a hefty 15 points behind the unbeaten champions Arsenal. Whilst that Arsene Wenger vintage was certainly one of the greatest teams this country has seen, United’s challenge was unimpressive and certainly below par for the team who had topped the table in the previous season.

The big change at United the summer before had been the departure of David Beckham to Real Madrid. However, it was not only the England captain who departed to the Spanish capital: Ferguson's second-in-command, Carlos Queiroz, was tempted away as manager. The lure of coaching Ronaldo, Figo and Zinedine Zidane was an unmissable opportunity for the man who had been tasked with reshaping United’s tactical approach in Europe.

In 2004-05, Jose Mourinho arrived at Chelsea with Roman Abramovich’s cheque book in hand and set about breaking records in the English top flight. Carlos Queiroz also returned to Manchester and set about rebuilding the team with Ferguson.

Progress was not immediate: United finished third for the second season in succession. It was the club's worst spell for more than a decade and the fans were bemoaning the tactics in the stands. Sound familiar at all?

As the 2005-06 season came to a close, United had shown signs of improvement. They finished as runners-up, only eight points behind an imperious Chelsea, and Queiroz’s work with Cristiano Ronaldo was beginning to bear fruit.

United won the next three titles and capped it all by winning the Champions League again in 2008. By taking the time to rebuild, and having the humility to bring back an old coach, Ferguson found the winning formula again.

i didn't cry on SAF or his tactic that time. mourinho is just too good that time, and no one really know how to beat him. fair to say, he brought epl to a different lvl. but at least we don't get completely beaten by chelsea that time.

this season we got completely steamrolled by city, chelsea even liverpool. nearly join moyesout bandwagon, but still not yet, though i join everyone in condemning his tactic and selections smile.gif if results is like now next season, even if you don't shout moyesout, don't think glazier will sit and do nothing. they just can't afford to lose another ucl spot for another season.

QUOTE(Reon @ Feb 16 2014, 11:27 PM)
Yeah 300k per week is astronomical figure, and this might unbalance the team in terms of wage structure and stuff. Sad to say that United has no choice over this. He is the best player of this season for us, carry the whole team forward despite all those losses. Without him I think we should be at the bottom half table. Then he remains the most marketable player for United, also the biggest name to attract big players to join us in the future. In a (dark) time like this, his new contract could prove vital for the new season ahead. He is 28, his prime time, and this should be the last time he can ask for these figures (same as Ronaldo did last season with Real). Well, if he continues to perform like he does this season, then I see no reason why not tie him to another 5 years. Moyes can spend £27m on Fellaini so why not extend Rooney's contract? It might turn out to be the best thing Moyes ever did in his time at Old Trafford. tongue.gif
*
Agreed. Let's just hope he is settled now, commercially, he is the person that Nike would recommend the club to tie down because Nike sponsors the club and Rooney is an ambassador for Nike, just like what Nike tried to do with Ronaldo, contributing a little for the 'supposed' transfer back to OT tongue.gif But yeah, some may say that his goal tally is not worthy of a striker, but his passion is still burning, the desire to win.

Moyes must be proud. If he can stay on until Rooney retires, he will be the only manager who gave him a debut at 16 years old and watch him retire tongue.gif That is only he can stay that long laugh.gif

He started off as a CAM, he was going forward and all, later he then became a CM, a more defensive approach. Such a pity, was always hoping for him to become something big, seems all has been fiddled out sweat.gif

Hope Rooney stays. Play him as the striker rather than the No.10. He is not that clever or tricky enough to be that. He does other things well though, in which he is

an excellent striker.

Ando-Cleverly combo, sadly, it only lasted on short period of time.

How I wish to watch Man Utd play a beautiful game like that. However, Man Utd is not like that. we play ugly and yet we win.

Look at the team's off the ball movements, and they were trying to play through the middle as well.

Compared to nowadays, almost everyone stand in line with opponent's defensive line when the CM received the ball. Look at the space between carrick and the attacking players... Even when they decided to move, it is at walking pace. As if they are zombies.

the partnership broke up so soon due to injuries.it was nice combination but at the same time didn't offer much defensive wise (evidence :the mauling of 1-6 at home by noisy neighbour; no carrick at the time, early bath of evans and ando-clev couldn't step in that game)

kinda football treats to watch City-Barca, Arsenal-Bayern.. all 4 teams known for their excellent attacking game. although i always have bitter feeling towards City and Arsenal, weirdly i would love an upsets.

hope for goals galore and dont make me sleepy in early morning.. i rarely stay awake if im watching football in 'neutral' mode..
