They install an app called Cloud TV for you. You need to subscribe to it. I think USD 40 for 6 months etc, different pricing. It contains Astro. I sub to the 6 months package before, works ok. But picture quality and audio is so so only, so i no longer sub to it. Just using Kodi and Netflix
*
yeap, I came across this service too. mean currently without subscribe it, do you able to watch astro ?
Netflix is for movie right ?

without the Cloud TV thing, can still watch HK drama kan?
*
Yeah. You need to install Kodi first, then learn to install the relevant addons. I've seen HK drama available on Drama24H addon. I don't really watch HK drama so I can't vouch whether it is stable or not.

Without Cloud TV I won't be able to access Astro channels. For Netflix you can download the app from playstore and it serves western movies and series. But you need to pay a monthly subscription. Anyway I am not the type who likes to watch Live TV, i prefer on demand. I maintain my sub to astro for watching sports.

It's quite complicated for me bro:

1) I use my Ps3 to watch Netflix and Dramafever (it has lots of Korean dramas but have not really started, but based on test very good quality and smooth). My Himedia can be used for Netflix but it serves up to 480p only. Ps3 displays in HD

2) Astro for watching sports.

3) Himedia android box - for anything not available on Netflix and movies. I use Kodi and Cartoon HD app.

4) Google Chromecast - For netflix and iflix (for my bedroom tv)

So the above sums up my entertainment set-up lol biggrin.gif . But bear in mind if you wanna access dramafever, you need to subscribe to a VPN service or DNS since it is only available for US only. But yet I still itch to buy a MiniX or Roku 3 don't know why, just my impulse

No jailbreak whatsoever, just customise with apps and Kodi. Netflix is RM42 per month, the best streaming service ever..period.

yes and no.

depends on what u MUST have.

time and again, we read users looking for HK CANTO TV and/or LIVE SPORTS incl BPL.

frankly, if u must have one or both of those, please stick with astro - u get good the stuff u want, reliable.

there is no box that will give u the same.

Astro is Astro, there is no free replacement except ahem providers which u still need to pay.

Astro spends millions a year to block them as they have a biz to run, salaries to pay!

but... if u can do with alternatives, incl lower quality, less reliable, mandarin... and foc... the box can do.

Thanks for info.

Looks to me, this Comcast xfinity is much like huluplus or Netflix before it entered locally.

The app is not sanctioned on Googleplay for local smart tv or android. Meaning you will need to sideload the app, use a 3rd party VPN and user account, I.e. use a proxy, paying a 3rd party biz.

It is interesting since this will give a good fight to the local monopolies and wake those people up - the tech is there, don't obstruct for selfish reasons! tongue.gif

I am actually waiting for Netflix to go live tv channels like they said they will. If and when they do, live tv plus VOD in HD/UHD and Dolby/dts will be a killer, I will pay for it.
