Thx. Any guide to show the process of the update? Found some from Google but abit confiusing. Got 2 method one is via PC and second is via thumbdrive. Which one is more easier? Thx.

The USB method would be the easiest. However, for a new device, I always prefer to flash the latest firmware using the PC method. Sure it's a bit more tricky, but it gives me that rest of mind that everything's partitioned and flashed properly. Bear in mind that, I'm capable of reviving a soft-bricked device incase things go wrong. So if you can't, better just stick to using the USB or OTA method where available.

true, if u already have a 4k tv but w/o androidtv inside, the box will be a good supplement.

but there are other boxes with uhd4k capability to choose from too.

we'll have to see what price this box is priced at, compared to other similar boxes.

btw, panasonic... are the smart functions in yr tv good? firefox, is it?

1. Rename subtitle to match video filename and place within the same folder. If you have subtitles enabled in settings, Kodi automatically selects this..
2. During playback.... Select the Audio-Settings icon, then "Browse for subtitles"... This allows you to browse the filesystem for the file needed to display the subtitles.

For future reference, there is a dedicated Kodi thread... Kodi related topics belong there...

I assume and hope that there will be "free channels" for the coming Olympics.

If you come across some good ones then, please share.

Thanks.

Free and good live sports.... biggrin.gif

I only know one that is reliable.

China CCTV5+ in HD. But it comes with Chinese commentary.

This channel can be found in a many apps, even Kodi, I think.

Right now, s Korea plays Indonesia in Thomas cup semi final.

Tonight 7pm, Malaysia plays Denmark in other semi final.

China is generous with their live broadcasts, no blocks, no charge. rclxms.gif

yr old samsung... is it a 4ktv? if not, it will not be able to display what the 4k box can deliver.

it will work, but the uhd4k features will not be utilized.

sony, sharp, philips 4k tv's now come with same class of android but may have bigger memory.
it is indeed very convenient to have android apps in the tv for viewing all kinds of stuff but w/o hd audio.
for hd audio playback, will need some other box.

4k 60fps
2/8gb
marshmallow 6.0
dts/dd

can't pass thru dtshdma/ddtruehd/dd atmos - too bad, will not appeal to home theater owners playing bluray/bdmv for hd audio.

there is nothing that can replace astro if u mean the exact contents.

if u mean alternatives, possible.

if u take time to write a bit abotu below, maybe users can provide some useful comments for you.

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Mar 7 2016, 07:10 PM)
for u and others looking for an android box, it will benefit u if u specify a few things so that users of diff boxes, brands and models can comment with a focus and not shoot everywhere and anywhere! tongue.gif

if u can describe:

.. your broadband speed.
.. will use ethernet or wifi?
.. want only english or only canto or only mandarin or...?
.. want eng subs, chinese subs, whatever subs...?
.. want movies or tv shows or live tv, what languages... give examples.
...must have live sports incl all epl?
.. can accept sd or only want hd?
.. want hd audio (dtshdma, dd truehd) pass thru for yr home theater?
.. want legit iptv like netflix, iflix, astro on the go, hypptv everywhere?
.. want ahem iptv , i.e. aztro and the like?
.. your knowledge level with androids?
.. budget - min and maximum

just don't say "i want everything" because that does not exist and even if it does, it will cost u everything. biggrin.gif

Many thanks.

Happy and satisfied with my Himedia after about 5 months of using and exploring it.

A lot of variety than the tunnel choices in ASXXX!

Will be an eye opener for us watching the Olympics with TV box!

You are welcome... IMO, cuz the box shipped with a 2014 FW, means its either running the 003 firmware or below. So to be safe:
1. Manually flash the 005 FW
2. Allow it to boot successfully then,
3. Manually flash the latest 008 FW.

Hi

I am planning to buy a android box.
Either Himedia H8 octa or Mibox 3 Pro or any other recommended ??
Which one will be better suited?
Main use will be for those aztro, occasional gaming and hd movies.
Will connect only with ethernet and for mibox will buy an ethernet adapter.
Prefer to have Play store as I want to minimize sideloading and have easy app updates.
Also prefer english UI
Also can stream movie and music from file server

Thank you
