ya the seller trying tell me can watch all china/hongkong tv channels for free no need to pay and other boxes have to pay monthly fees

never buy these kinda boxes before so not too sure, kinda want to cut my astro services d

An Astro/Hypptv subscription is still king. Why, cuz you pay for the service & their services are very reliable and come with dedicated boxes for channels streaming and EPG features.. One tap on the remote and the change is instantaneous. Any other alternatives are plainly illegal and whether you pay a million bucks or not, they can and will fail at some point.. So remember that before cutting the cord.

My 2 cents here ....

From what I read, one of the negatives of SMART TV is the constraint in OS, FW, APPS etc update. You get what they have put in and also what they are willing to update eg FW. Once they have new model coming up, then their focus on older models will be limited.

So for more flexibility, I would not go for SMART TV.

Cheerio.

Fair enough.. I believe it boils down to getting a truly Smart TV that ships with a solid firmware & not one that claims to be Smart & yet, plagued with issues.. For households that require services like Netflix, Hulu, etc.. The easiest ways to get such in full HD or UHD is through the TV apps, as they are certified & easy to launch & navigate through content selections. One can get an external media box to augment streaming, gaming, etc..

thanks for feedback.

i rarely use kodi, just for casual weekend football, hence not sure if i want to spend rm400 on it. sad.gif

if this is your first box, you can try M8s. i have minix neo U1 for heavy duty and M8s (bought it for around RM200) for casual usage.

Getting addicted already.

I'm not familiar with all the services other than Astro. Recently came across the Xiaomi Mi Box with ALL Astro channels. RM330 one off payment for mi box + RM320 annual payment for subscription and access to all astro channels.

Is it legit & working well?

Install a subtiltle addon in KODI... Open media from Movie HD in KODI, during playback... Search for subtitle.

Please read a few pages back to see what users feel about such... Its been discussed repeatedly.. It's the least you could do since the information is already publicly available.

for MHD, you can get subs only if u choose "custom" when asked to play.

that will lead u to choose a player. depending on what u have installed in the box, you can choose es file explorer, mx, kodi, etc.

.. if mx, when video starts, click top right, u see options to get subs from opensubtitles. now, u need to register with opensubtitles.org on pc first to get id and pw to get the subs. you need to key in id and pw only once in mhd, it will remember.
http://www.opensubtitles.org/en/search

.. if kodi, it will open up kodi player. then u get subs just like when watching any video within kodi, assuming u already installed and enabled the various subs links like opensub, subscene, podnapsi, etc. (note in this mode, u r using kodi as a player, not as an app to stream.)

That some nice trick. Now i can enjoy 1080p movie without need to download first hehe. But I can see the different between streaming and download coz usually i only download bluray 1080p particularly SPARKS and the quality way better than streaming but im not complaining.

But still cant with the cypher...sigh.....tried install kodi on laptop and install cypher from there also cannot

obvious difference between <1gb to 2gb files vs 5, 10, 15, 45gb ones!

but, still very handy for b grade movies or tv shows.

if u have a chance, try netflix hd/uhd streams - these are good.

Hi guys, planning to get one TV media player. Not sure to got Intel Stick or Android TV.

If i get Intel stick, i can install android on it then can run myiptv and others. But a little bit expensive than android. While android tv just, just like an android only and much cheaper. Haha

Any review or recommendation from Intel TV stick users here?

Edit: STOM PC Stick by Thundermatch Seems Good. priced RM400

You might want to notice the name of the thread to know what type of users frequent here and why you probably won't get the answers you seek..

I just buy STOM PC Stick, just like a PC running Windows 10 using Keyboard and Mouse.

Android TV is using remote control.

i think there is an htpc thread somewhere.

but this is a pc stick, interesting gadget.

i doubt we have a thread on this device yet.

it will be good if either of you can start a new thread, incl some info on this device which is different from an android box.

e.g. whether enough memory for kodi; can the stick do netflix hd and iflix since most android boxes can't.

could be very useful for those looking for specifics in a device.

I haven't see any review about Intel Compute Stick or other copycats here. Few review from http://www.cnet.com/products/intel-compute-stick-2016/ and http://www.engadget.com/2016/01/22/intel-c...ck-2016-review/

By the way Intel Compute Stick design by Malaysian Source

u r the 3rd person on this page to bring this up, see earlier posts on this page.

probably users r still very rare.

as a pc stick is not an android box, i hope somebody will start a new thread, posts a few useful comments and links.

i am curious too!
