about the 3d iso files... i doubt u can do toggle with 2d like BD discs.

With TotalMedia Theatre 6 on my HTPC, 3D iso files can be toggled to 2D playback. Menu is just like on a real standalone BD player.

i have a ton of 2d iso/bdmv's - all play good with simple menu of playlist/audio tracks/subs - good enough. wink.gif

Ikr.. I also saw a couple of movies at the cinema in 3D & went.. Meh".. smile.gif Alas, thought it'd be better in the living room, got a 3D TV, still wasn't impressed. Perhaps, my expectations are too high..? VR tech, now that's more like it.. Tried the Samsung Gear VR set powered by Oculus + an S6. Nice.. rclxms.gif. The Pacific Rim Jaegar Pilot experience for me was truly impressive. Made me feel truly immersed in the Jaeger..

Features like that are where the HTPC shines... It's more of a Windows advantage over Android... Thing is, as advanced as the Android OS is today, especially with all the fragmentation.. It's still not truly ready for the living room. Advances in hardware & software should bridge the gap.

Depends on the movie.. So far, I've seen it fall between 30GB - 60GB... Hoping the H.265 format gets adopted quicker. Lesser file size, same pq.

Yeah you should.. Went visiting a friend of mine & his colleague had one with him. I hope serious development continues and we see much better consumer versions & content in a few years.

3d is not something for everyone, to me its a nice to have (bonus) especially if it was well done for 3d viewing. I thought the hfr hobbit trilogy in cinemas were beautiful. Gravity, avatar and the walk were great also. But other movies only capitalise on it for the higher ticket prices with little effect.

The latest star wars 3d was boring except for few wow scenes (destroyer in space) cos it was 2d conversion anyway

Yes, I also believe a real PC in the form of a HTPC is most configurable. But I wanted to try something different and see how much I can make it work for me.

But like everything else, it's always a compromise / workaround.

Yes, my Nvidia Shield just arrived. I haven't had the time to set it up yet. I believe I need to install Kodi first before I can stream the BD isos on my NAS?

I thought I quite enjoyed the dog fight scenes in Star Wars 3D. It was IMAX 3D if it made any difference.

I'm a newbie when it comes to Android boxes. So I might take some time. sweat.gif

One thing though, I cannot stop oggling at the design and the sharp lines. Definitely one of the more eye catching products I've come across.

Nice... rclxms.gif rclxms.gif It's indeed a slick looking device. Update the firmware first if need be (usually automatically done on first boot up), set up accounts, install a couple of apps, later post a review & update as you discover along.. Help others..

Like to know whether any one has experienced your TV Box auto erasing and updating Android system?

What did you do to correct that?

That's unusual, what TV box? Does the box have an SD/USB update method which was mistakenly activated? Try disabling auto update if possible, or freeze the OTA app with Titanium Backup.

Thanks Sifu!

Checked and disabled all auto update except OTA.

Please clarify. I thought OTA (On The Air?) is to connect mobile etc to TV box then to TV. How will that cause it to update? Titanium Backup is an apps in Google?

Thanks.
