Best you stick to your current box as its still a very capable machine & wait for a more worthy upgrade.. H.264 mkv files are still popular these days & just like 4K tech, it'll take awhile for the H.265 format to be standard.. I'm hoping within a year or 2 as the space benefits alone.... now am thinking to buy U1 or any 64bit pulak.. The specs might useful in coming future.. |

QUOTE(roxx @ Jan 20 2016, 06:03 PM) Ok master (haaa dont strike ok u indeed a master for teaching me in android tv world) hahahahaha.. Be hard for popular apps not to support Kitkat, more so the less popular apps. Mainly cuz majority of mobile devices out there running Android, are on Kitkat.. In fact, close the 40% market share, making Kitkat the most populous android version. Next up is Lollipop 5.0 at around 16%. So besides losing out on some very specific features (such as 24-bit audio & improved H.265 support within KODI) implemented in Lollipop & above, I'd say there's not much to worry about. From what I gathered last year, the folks at Minix confirmed there won't be a Lollipop 5.0 update as it introduces many bugs. However, there's a possibility of a 5.1 firmware update. Fingers crossed*.I just heard about most of the playstore apps will not be able to support kitkat later.. Hence a bit worried on that part.. But then my tv box also dont have many apps.. Cehhh.. As you mentioned, unlike the more mobile phones or tablets, these are TV boxes primarily meant to sit @ a spot & run few games/media oriented apps.. That said, I'd welcome an update provided it's rock stable. |

What other news video can I watch beside Bloomberg?
Need a second one if what they are covering in Bloomberg is not interesting to me. Thanks. P/S Explore BBTS, like the news, music sections. |

Anyone using M8s model? It's cheap but some seller stopped selling this model coz got issues. Minix X5 Mini / X7 Mini ok ka? Quite pricey for almost same spec as M8s. This post has been edited by tolaktakjatuh: Jan 22 2016, 04:50 PM |

That is normal for most china/ low branded box, max 720p (or is it SD?) for youtube app, limitation by content provider google.I had same issue on my himedia h8 octacore box (higher spec compare to my other box), only 720p when streaming youtube but i get full hd 1080p when using my other box (amazon fire stick, lower spec). QUOTE(voncrane @ May 15 2014, 11:13 AM) You can get it from Deal Extreme. I got it from a guy selling it off lowyat forum here but i can't seem to find his thread which should be active, so still scout around. Dealextreme, actually I have never heard of it, I bought the MINIX NEO U1 from some store called Tinydeal after going through a review in Youtube. Minix NEO U1 is an upgraded version of X8, I am pretty happy with it.1. Being an android box, it plays a lot of media formats i use like avi, mp4, mkv etc. There are tons of apps you can install to watch live tv or stream tv shows and movies... An example would be CloudTV for live streaming of English, Chinese, Indian channels. You can check the app out on their website CloudTV, you'll have to pay per month ($5) to access their premium channels but good thing is, you can try the premium channels for free for 24 hours, then decide if to purchase or not. I'm English and so can't help with HK series but i'm sure android has apps for that. Alternatively, you can run XBMC on the device, install plug-ins from third party repositories to get tons of Chinese channels for free. 2. Minix provided an android app which can be used to not only fully control the box but can also be used to play control 3D games on your TV. Wireless keyboards and Mouse are suported via usb dongle or bluetooth. 3. Yes to playing from my External HDD and also DLNA support from my PC, Note 3 and Nexus 10. It also supports screen mirroring except by samsung devices. Though that doesn't matter as i can easily push pics or video files via DLNA from the gallery app. Media files can also be pushed wirelessly from IOS & OSx devices as well if that's your thing. 4. Cost is within your price range. I'm using Unifi 5Mbps package and this works for me & streams HD though i'm considering upgrading to 10Mbps simply for faster torrenting This post has been edited by Asherly: Jan 23 2016, 06:37 PM |
