too slow.  Can reach but you have to spent almost 4 hour into this journey.

If you used my Plan...just 2 hour

Thank you for the feedback. Will weigh to see if I can afford to lose the time to fit my budget, or if it is better to spend more and see more.

Hello guys, I'm planning for a trip to Japan

Just want to ask, will RM5k of expenses be a bit of a stretch for a 2 weeks trip? Or it's safe to up the budget a bit.

I've not decided where or when to go yet, but I'm planning to go do some sight seeing, taking photographs and such. Living and eating won't be a major concern, so I'll be okay with staying in budget hotels and such.

Oh and I'm planning for a solo trip.

Very broad question. Where and when are two very vital components in travel cost estimation.

Plan your itinerary and add up all the estimated cost and you will get your answer.

This is like asking 'guys I wanna buy a car but haven't decided. Will 40k be enough to buy the car I want?'

How do we know whether 40k is enough if we don't know what cat you want?

Including or excluding airfare? To which city / cities?

Transportation is a major part of costs, after accomodation.

Guy,

If you can accomodate a backpacker travel style, it should be no problem.
I assume yrs budget is exclude air-fare. 7 day in Tokyo+ 7 day in Kansai area
(Osaka+ Kyoto+ Nara)

Let cal:-

Accomodation, Back packer dorm, RM90X14=RM1260
food for a day, RM12+RM12+RM17=RM41 x14day =RM574
transportaion cost=RM960+ for a JR pass
others train pass=RM900-RM1k, if u want economy c/w relaxing
travelling time for look see look see, take a slow train, it alot more cheaper.

Then, you willl left RM1206+/- to plan arround, then you can choose some really good place
to visit, like Disneyland or Disneysea, Fuji Mountain etc, entrance ticket for some musuem or park.
Personally i felt that, it shall be workable , one a while can have some good meal,
Try to read more on this forum, it will help u to reduce yrs stress on budget.

Tokyo Disney Sea Part 7

As the sun starts to set, our journey in Disney Sea is also coming to an end. We went to get the Fast Pass for Raging Rapids and spent the remaining time in the Arabian Coast and enjoy the really meticulous design and architecture.

Vanilla Ice Cream + Mango sorbet. Quite nice!

As we finally tried the last ride of Disney Sea, we were quite dissapointed. Raging Rapids was just another roller coaster ride which also does not warrant the need for a Fast pass. I would gladly skip it the next time I return to this place. The roller coasters back in Malaysia is just much better than this ride. :/

Going for a 10 days trip to Japan but haven't figured out the itinerary yet. I have Kyoto and Tokyo in mind but thinking of I can stretch and maximise my 7 days JR pass. I have been to Osaka so that is out of the equation.

I will be flying to Osaka (Kansai) airport and returning from Tokyo (Haneda) airport. So my first stop will be Kyoto and my final stop before flying home will be Tokyo.

I am planning the first 3 nights in Kyoto.

Thinking of where else to go in between before heading to Tokyo. Nara? Kobe?

I have been to Lake Kawaguchiko previously too.

Alright! biggrin.gif Will make my book as a guide then.
My trip will be in April and I'll be backpacking.

So far, we already have the accommodations and flight tickets covered.
Won't be needing JR pass, will be buying tickets at the machine instead tongue.gif

We have few places in mind (but exploring osaka in 1 day, i wonder if that's doable) and kyoto the next 2 days.
We have Tokyo to ourselves (as if!) for the next 6-7 days too!! rclxm9.gif

sweat.gif It's Feb and I can really feel the tension already... hahaha...

Ok, thanks again!
