You have to decide whether you want thrill rides or relive your childhood memories. Many (me included) choose Disneysea because it is the only Disneysea in the world. However, has less Disney theme compared to Disneyland itself. In other words, no magic. Forget Cinderella, Snow White, etc

If you have been to other Disneylands, then probably you might wanna try Disneysea this time

Hi Guys,
my friends and I plan to backpack to Kansai & Tokyo for 11 days.

a) Guide or no guide
Just wondering though, especially for Kansai area (Kyoto & Osaka),
for a first time visitor - is it advisable to tour the place on our own or should we hire a guide? We wanted to appreciate the cultural and history values of these places, will bringing a travel book bout Japan do the trick?

b) Budget
How much did you spend at Japan (on food, accomodation, train, goodies)?

What about at Tsukiji Market? The sushis and transportation fees?

Sorry, am a noob here ~_~; Had googled around, but I think local input would be best.

You won't go wrong with the Japanese food.

I am now missing grilled oyster and eel rice from miyajima, okonomiyaki from osaka, yakuniku from osaka and shinjuku, sushi from tsukiji fish market, dinner & breakfast provided by ryokan in hakone, grill steak rice in shinjuku, yakuniku from osaka and shinjuku, green tea parfait from kyoto, etc

Never regret on every money I've spent for foods over there. Just that I don't have enough stomach space to fit more like pablo cheese cake from osaka

The best food I ever tasted in Japan was during my 10 weeks stay in company's "ryou".. after working your socks off the whole day, nothing beats a cold shower and then eating dinner at the canteen. Particularly when they cook stew or japanese curry that you can have unlimited refills from the thermal pot. The 2 elderly couple who manned the kitchen were really good... Heaven.... smile.gif

Asking this kind of question here won't get a answer. Specially from the pro.
Tools and guide all at page 1 already. Do the work.

yup, better do some research online yourself, since different ppl have different priorities. like me, i based my trip totally on food, so everywhere i go i search for best food first, then only the actual location for the tour.

Ok maybe I should be a bit more specific.

I'm planning to go Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya, and Tokyo. Will I have enough time to cover these places?

Any other area that might be interesting for me to cover? Any interesting eating places that I should visit while I'm in these places?

As for visa, I notice my passport has the symbol at the front cover as required for visa exemption. does that mean I dont need to apply visa anymore?

we want to visit Tokyo Disney because it's considered the best Disney in the world.  It will be a waste not to visit there at least once in a lifetime.  also, Universal Studio Singapore also got, although quite different, but it's nothing special.

Haha wut. Best Disney in Asia and Europe, maybe. Anyways USJ got a lot of repeat rides with USS so if you've visited USS recently then feels too deja vu when visitign USJ. But the cool weather (depend on season also lah) makes it SO much more pleasant than in SG.

i know got a lot of affordable food, but it's best to just prepare more budget, since i'm a super foodie

You can even get a Michelin 1 start lunch for about 1000 yen in Shinjuku.
The menu changes based on season and went I was there a few months back I waited for an hour before I can get a seat.
