QUOTE(lucaswjk @ Feb 11 2014, 05:23 PM) take overnight coach, save hotel + time + $$$ estimate your budget/time here >> https://willerexpress.com/en/the price for overnight bus is almost same as renting an apartment for 1 night (per person, that is...) if don't have JR pass then it's very affordable, but if traveling to more than 1 place (e.g. Osaka - Kyoto - Osaka - Tokyo - Osaka) just can't beat JR pass. personally, i can't sleep on a moving vehicle, so overnight bus is not for me. Getting Started

Sifu, a question.. from Kiyomizu Gojo station to Daikokucho station
Kindly check hyperdia and see Route 3 (¥630).. i notice that we have to ride Keihan Main Line Sub-Exp. and Keihan Main Line Ltd. Exp. I got a bit confuse here. We will use ICOCA card and from the website, Keihan line is supported but we need to buy a separate limited express ticket... Does the price of ¥400 include that? or is it just the base fare?

Take time: 57 Minutes Transfer: 1 Times Distance: 51.4 km Total:¥ 1,560(Fare:¥ 1,060 Seat Fee:¥ 500) Commuting ticket(1mon:¥ 5,040 3mon:¥ 14,360 6mon:¥ 24,190)
Found this while searching for a route on Hyperdia. May I know what does "Commuting ticket" mean? For the statement above does that mean that the total amount that I need to pay for the journey is 1,560 yen, or are there any hidden charges?

QUOTE(RedShirt @ Feb 11 2014, 08:40 AM) Going for a 10 days trip to Japan but haven't figured out the itinerary yet. I have Kyoto and Tokyo in mind but thinking of I can stretch and maximise my 7 days JR pass. I have been to Osaka so that is out of the equation. I will be flying to Osaka (Kansai) airport and returning from Tokyo (Haneda) airport. So my first stop will be Kyoto and my final stop before flying home will be Tokyo. I am planning the first 3 nights in Kyoto. Thinking of where else to go in between before heading to Tokyo. Nara? Kobe? I have been to Lake Kawaguchiko previously too. Are places like Nara, Kobe or Chiba worth mentioning?

But all administration buiding , HQ all build at Kobe. Today Kobe got most western food & cake restaurant. Chiba was worth to Visit if got MotorShow or Gameshow exhibition.
