HI i am new to income tax. I have a few questions
1. How to get income tax file number? i already register at this website (http://edaftar.hasil.gov.my/) and got the NO. RUJUKAN and No Pin e-Filing.
2. Is it true we only need to pay income tax after 1 year of working?

Thank you very much!

noob question..
I;m a contract basis worker earning RM2k per month.Do I need to open an income tax file with IRB?
I wanna apply for BR1M,if possible, but will this cause complications as I have a friend who applied for the aid and his parents did not declare tax for many years since stopped working, then IRB start digging out the parents files and fine them.

No. You don't need an income tax number for BR1M.

For YA2014:

Walau bagaimanapun, mulai Tahun 2013 individu yang mempunyai pendapatan penggajian tahunan melebihi RM30,667 (selepas potongan KWSP) perlu mendaftar fail cukai pendapatan.
Income Tax follow calendar year meaning from Jan to Dec no matter which month you started working. You still need to declare it next year since you already register for efiling.

Dear All,

Pcb has been deducted from my salary without fail since 8 years ago. But i never declare or do efiling. Now im starting to feel i pay tax too much(the higher salary the higher tax). If i do efiling now, what is the consequences? How much penalty will i get. I read in lhdn website. The percentage of penalty is out of one year or % of 8 years tax?

Hi all

Have some questions about PCB tax on salary. I just join new company this month with salary RM3800. and new company ask me fill in a Income Tax form for previous job earning and deduction for this year that they want it to auto run some figure for PCB deduction.

I got my this first month salary. By right, RM3800 minus Epf and socso will get the net salary taxable which by PCB. My first month salary is not taxable though which i dunno why as my salary slip did not show it. and im single with no children.

anyone from HR or have idea why is not taxable follow PCB deduct ? Or is it i'm new that's why im not deducted PCB ths month ? And when HR asked for previous job earning and kwsp, and PCB total deduction from Jan 2014 to the day I resigned from previous job to submit to IRB isfor what purpose ? is related to my PCB adjustment ? got such thing?

When I ask HR about this, they say it will deduct next month as it is by accumulation and auto generate... dunno what this mean. btw I also oredi submitted my Income tax file no. to my HR.

Probably their calculation is for your total 2014 earnings, and your previous 10 months pay + 2 months at this company they calculate as no additional tax need to be paid against the amount you already paid with previous job. But if you don't have specific numbers no idea.

Anyway cannot run away, when you file if there's not enough paid still have to pay then. In fact better not to pay first (if you are disciplined spender) so as not to give government free loan.

@LaoFuZ
Some companies will only start deducting tax from your monthly salary on the start of the year, not in the middle. However, you are required to open the tax account because your monthly pay has exceeded the need to open it.

Hey guys..i wanted to ask.. my father is now 57 years old and he has retired from working since last year (2013). At early this year, he did received Borang B from the inland revenue for him to fill up. But since he's already in his retirement and he has no source of income, so he didn't fill up the form and just ignore it.

Today, he received a letter saying that LHDN will take action to sue him for failing to submit his borang B before due date and he will need to pay some compound(didnt state how much).

My question is, when my dad reached retirement age, does he required to fill up any specific form for retirement or we have to write letter stating that my dad has retired so dun charge him income tax? or is it when the age gone pass 55, he will automatically be exempted from income tax?

I think need to inform LHDN that your dad has retired (maybe write letter) & just send back blank form (without filling anything).

u know right some is still working after 55 or even past 60yo icon_rolleyes.gif so LHDN don't simply exempted those 55 above from income tax.

anyway, try to nego with LHDN officer. maybe can reduce the fine

Hi every one... Need to clarify something. If we sell property after own it more than 5 years ... it is not taxed. At the same time, should we declare that in our income tax as part of our income that year? Thanks.

You want to declare the proceeds from selling the property as income? It's not, but of course if you want the declare the government will be very happy to take that 26% from you =)

Hi all,

I am hoping to get some help/guide here - thanks in advance

Im enrolling into further studies next year starting Feb 2015; however if I chose to settle my payment in 2014, can I claim tax relief for 2014?

Then in June ( half yearly), I will have another payment - can I claim again for 2015?

Thank you

The tax relief are calculate based on assessment year. So you must do like this.
Say your course is rm30000, is better you separate the payments to get the max out of it.
