Thats why you should be a cheapskate like me and get a spinning 500 sized reel with prawn rod. haha
Less than RM100 and super fun

If expert like you sure equipment won't matter... Anyway,, more important is the results right?

Want to ask... Anyone tried the Jugra CNR at night? Do soft plastics work at night and if they do, which color better for gt and senangin?

Im not an expert.
I think Jugra is quite difficult to fish at night due to insects but you can let us know how it is.

20 years working in estate so the insects shouldn't bother me much...anyway...nowadays got all kinds of repellent so will try them out.
I'm only worried that there doesn't seem to be much lighting here, so may want to wait for full moon.
looking around the internet, seems that sp work best here but most were day fishing. I've also read elsewhere(not in Malaysia) that SP do work at night so I suppose they should here too.
Just wondering if anyone has had any experience at saltwater payonds using SP at night, maybe which type is preferred ?

Well you have to experience jugra mosquitos, then you can compare them to estate mosquitos biggrin.gif

Well at night or any time of the day actually, the fish dont see the lures most of the time. They rely on vibration mostly.

Take a look at jugra ponds, even during the day. You cant see 10cm below the surface any way tongue.gif

just got back from anglers convention at setia convention center. many goodies i got.

bought myself ajiking dogtooth rod and wahoo 4500s. imma going out for GT jor. on paper, max drag 25kg. hopefully i get to use all that 25kg of pulling force.

TCE booth was biggest. i think they sapu at least 1/2 the floorspace. bought some cheapo bait for pond fishing. dunno work or not, try out first since cheap. wanted to buy waist belt, RM 14. end up didnt. instead i aimed at the cooler box from igloo. i bought their 259 pakej, no wheels but 48l+cooler+lunchbox set combo. good buy, cheaper than coleman.

shimano out of my range, the beastmaster din gao still not in my bajet. stella can lagi forget it.

walked over to surecatch ATC booth. wanted buy ATC but none of it is for sale. all for demo purposes only. Valiant replaced by valor. personnel say mebbe 2 months time can see in shops.

TCE carry okuma and ajiking and a few more. ajiking most tempting offer so i purchased lor. the wahoo 4500s very solid. since i bundle that with dogtooth rod, is RM 360 total. ok wat.

the rod casing from surecatch also cheap. RM 15 for 5" hard casing. bagui wei.

Average 50m bottom, my recommendation for no skill ppl is 8000 reel, 3:6 mh rod, 60-80lbs braid 90 lead twin hook or Sam char ngau if u empty handed for an hour. No Apollo. Who invented Apollo should be shot dead.

With heavy gear u can bottom up with less effort. Easiest still electric reel but beastmaster still expensive. I wish I can beastmaster also sigh. Can only dream.

1st time buy cheap reel . Feel it then slowly upgrade. If u got cash to splash then go medium level gear.

My friend bought cheap set cause not sure whether he will be hooked on fishing. 6 months later he gian like crazy then keep upgrading gear.

Cheap set should be around RM 100+ for full set. 60 bucks reel, 30 bucks rod, some cheap nylon string and pariah hook. All slightly less than RM 120. Can catch also what. Out in pulau angsa some more. But don't expect it to last la. When technique not there, what reel also will die 1.

Took 3 of us closer to an hour to untangle crossed apolo . 1 had to be sacrificed. And the Apollo really ah, if u see water calm, OK la u play play. Mahem this 1 moon on board , current quite unsteady also wanna Apollo. Bloody fool it will swing everywhere wei . Cross everyone line just for small fish.

For newbie okla . Treble hook bait all around or live action bait ppl will understand. For those seasoned veterans like yourself, even myself jr still, won't use lor. Later the fish become kiamchai before it come up .

On a side note, any jigging kaki in here? Sotong jiggers ? I heard next month is mersing sotong festival. Anyone interested ?
