Hi all Alza users, my wife car Alza Advance is approaching 4 full years come June.

Over the past 4 years Alza had been a great car for the family but there is one thing that I dislike a lot, which is the brake paddle.  Often I have to apply more strength to make the car stop, and the brake's travel distance is too long to my liking.

I am wonder any of you have any idea or can recommend some tweak to reduce the braking travel distance to something like 30% of the original travel distance ?
*
if you have tighten the the brake cable and still dont get the desired braking force to stop quickly

you can change to:

1. bendix metal king (titanium) front back
2. PRO RS steel braided brake hose
3. better tires can improve the braking distance (shorter)
4. dot4 brake fluid
5. brake calipers (expensive)
6. ventilated disc brakes

Alexei & Subangkidz: Thanks for your info smile.gif Argh..i think i just need to tahan this absorber until it is wear off to change a stiffer one. Kampung road really bouncy especially middle row. Nvm, this buffer looks like not long term solving bouncy problem i abandon this add on. smile.gif

Ah, I think you guys got me wrong here. I did not mean the braking distance to get the car to a halt. But the travel distance of the brake paddle, that I have to depress so much and use quite some strength to depress the brake.

Sorry biggrin.gif should have elaborated better.

amdxpHave you serviced the brakes before? I think the brake master pump is failing. Other reasons may also contribute to this, example like low vacuum to the master pump. Have you modded the car before?
For kampung road, you actually need a softer absorber, and longer spring. Think off road driving.
Look for videos of dune buggy, and you know what I mean. Imagine you want the tyres to be able to travel more vertical distance to absorb all the potholes and bumps, without affecting the passengers. However, that sacrifices normal road handling as the car will more likely roll sideways, under/over steer at times due to the ride height.

So, if you have stiffer absorber, it's like driving a race car in kampung road: the springs does not compress/decompress easily, and all the forces are transferred to the passenger.

I got your point already thks man smile.gif Today just taken my half day leave go service 5500km 2nd service at Genting Klang setapak. Adjustment on the brake pedal to higher (still stock brake pad is noob) and kick-down cable was done. Overall is ok, the car start to more power already after kick-down cable and 2nd engine oil change, very syok in driving already smile.gif..too bad my whitey got scratch in my working area parking lot! Damn only rubbing compound can be make it disappear! Clear coat very fast habis~~

Is it since u got the car or just happen lately? Bleed entire brake system n change to dot4 fluid, change rear shoe pads and front brake pads to better one....later if got budget change disc rotor to bosch/brembo/proride etc2.....

No, all the while like that. Never like the long paddle travel since day 1 but endure it since.

Just wanna find out if there is a way. I like the feeling of light tap on brake paddle that will get the car to slow down, like my the other car. Alza has one poor brake feel, please see the expert review on Alza at carbase.my

Im not sure if dis happen to brandnew alza....But my experience drive my sister 30k KM alza for 2weeks told the same.... My friend at SC told the 2014 alzas came with new front caliper, not sure if its have bigger pads/pistons but hope it'll improve....

But logically 1145kg of kerb weight was not too heavy for such mini mpv, so maybe yes, its braking system too weak....
