Sadly Sech60 discontinued, I feel it’s a good balance for front windscreen. Now have to opt for C70.
Thanks wasn't aware of that. Car Tint Advice - V2, Raytech, Vkool, Huper Optic, 3M or .....

QUOTE(mois @ Dec 16 2023, 03:32 PM) Im user of huper optik for past 4 cars. I cannot move beyond this brand for tinted and no reason to switch other brand. Literally perfect I think this brand, the marketing and branding not very aggressive. So other brands like Rhinepro more famous (which is why I looked at it). It is also good, the price I tint today, versus 6 years ago, just stayed within inflation and didn't increase dramatically. |

QUOTE(ayamxxx @ Dec 18 2023, 11:18 PM) Actually I'm not sure about the 99% IRR really cannot get thru smart tag coz if I'm not mistaken, the boss of Irispro mentioned that their tint used different spectrum at 1400nm for IRR. Smart tag uses something like 900nm (not sure). So smart tag can go thru for their tint at least on Elite and Diamond / new Diamond X series. So it's about the spectrum used for the IRR. 3M might be using the same spectrum of IRR as smart tag (at least that is what I'm told). The Diamond 60 with 96% IRR can go thru smart tag (still slow down at lane like VKool Elite). They mentioned their new Premium tint, DX series with 99% IRR is also smart tag friendly. Not familiar with this spectrum thing tho. I'm have been looking for a premium tint replacement for my old Civic FD's VKool Elite. VKool is now priced so high, only rich ppl can install. So after searching for a while, I decided to go for Irispro premium Diamond series metalic sputter-based tint. Even my wife say I'm crazy to reinstall a high price premium tint on an old car but I'm going to use the car until I cannot afford to maintain it (kaput)...the last Civic with double wishbone rear suspension also still the best CKD built quality vs the now much degraded CKD built quality of H. The very much well maintained car don't know can last as long as the tint warranty or not... Anyway my windscreen got stonechip crack and directly thru Irispro, the manager liaise with Dr Windscreen to replace the windscreen (happened to be, I used to change windscreen and repair stonechip at Dr Windscreen Puchong branch for years, excellent workmanship). This allow Irispro to deduct the extra rm300 from my Tint Package from the windscreen insurance claim. A one stop centre. Irispro arranged for Dr Windscreen to take new Windscreen to their Setia Alam branch, they then pre-tint the windscreen. Next day, I go to their Setia Alam branch and Dr. Windscreen actually have a new mobile unit that installed the pre-tinted windscreen directly at Irispro centre, save lots of time for me. Also doing the pre-tint before windscreen installation will be much neater and cleaner for the tint coz they no need to go into car and do tint with dashboard in the way. So I reinstalled the rest of the tints in the Civic with Diamond 60 for front tint and their new (not even in their website) DX series (security tint I guess coz using 4-5 mil thickness) for the rest. The new DX series uses Silver sputter instead with even higher IRR. So I got D60 for front, DX60 for front side windows and DX30 for rear side and rear windscreen. The D60 and DX60 has a slightly greenish and brown hue while DX30 has brown hue. The tints have a more mirror like reflection on the outside vs VKool. I used D60 for front coz.....they never told me of the supposedly higher rated silver-based sputter tint until I'm there. Too late, still D60 is has higher VLT than DX60, noticeably so even on paper it is on 2% differences. They do a great job removing my 15 years old rear demister tint....now don't know demister still work or not but on surface, no demister line broke, good workmanship and lots of luck (Civic FD has thicker demister line). Darn sakit hati seeing they remove the entire rear seats AND rear dashboard to remove and install tint coz the bloody 3rd brake lamp blocked installation. On side note, pls don't do Windscreen replacement at same time as tinting. Even when the staff stop tinting when Dr. Windscreen do Windscreen replacement and worked after, dust still got thru. So kena re-tint my front side windows the week after. Rear all ok coz by time they do that, it has been hours since Windscreen change, also dark tint, harder to see dust speck. The device test for my front Windscreen has VLT 56%, IRR 96% (D60 VLT rated at 60%, IRR96%). Never bother with front JPJ compliancy at Puspakom as long as it is a clear tint that won't get stop at road block. My VKool Elite failed even when it is rated at 75/73%. Only 80% tint can pass Puspakom but those tint is almost useless for heat resistance. The new DX60 tested front side has VLT 48%, IRR 99% (DX60 VLT rated at 58%, IRR 97%). Cialat, I tot 58% is safe for 50% JPJ compliant, now dropped 2% lower than expected. Heard Puspakom has 10% allowance, meaning 45% safe...don't know true or not. If next time want to change ownership, have to cross finger. The rear DX30 has VLT of 22%, IRR 98% (DX30 VLT rated at 25%, IRR 97%). Dark enuf but still clear to see outside at night. Don't ask me why the supposedly darker DX30 has lower IRR than supposedly lighter DX60 99%.... DX series are priced slightly higher than original Diamond series by a few hundred. The D60 front and DX series cost me near to 3K but the reduction from insurance claim helped a bit. This is definitely premium tint pricing. Oh. Now on 2nd week, lots of small water bubble on my demister screen still there but tech say will go away in a month or so or faster under hot sun. I do parked in cool car porch, car no used for the week until now. Front pre-tinted windscreen is done well coz they can do tint and clear water without obstruction. So are the sides. U mentioned 96% IRR need to slow down for smart tag, I still thinking cz Smart Tag use Infrared for signal while it block 96% of it, hence the need to slow down. No idea for the newest tech for tint spectrum. I rather use RFID or open up my window when using smart tag. Trauma hitting the toll barrier when the smart tag is failed due to tint reason. Pay for windscreen replacement then next 3 days after the glue is harden, went to the tint shop for tint installation. Did that years ago, too troublesome. Nowadays using fast dry glue, still say 3-5 days don't wash car but rain ok. Nowadays heavy rain worse than wash car. So keep car at home porch for 5 days... Send all the receipts to my Insurance, Etiqa, get back the claim within a week a so. U mentioned 96% IRR need to slow down for smart tag, I still thinking cz Smart Tag use Infrared for signal while it block 96% of it, hence the need to slow down. Actually I select the tint first, then approached Irispro to liaise with partner to do windscreen replacement. Luckily one of their main windscreen partners, Dr. Windscreen has mobile service that can do windscreen replacement at client place. All my problem solved (I also good with Dr. Windscreen as I used their service few times with good result). Price is I used premium tint....if use cheap tint don't know they want to do that or not... The lady manager say their DX60 with 99% IRR (I tested with side windows), on windscreen, smart tag can pass coz different spectrum. I'm going to install that on my other car windscreen in near future. If cannot pass, will ask them to replace with D60 at their cost coz that one proven can pass liao... Still using metalic-based tint means I cannot stick RFID on windscreen, will give problem. Luckily all my cars has it on the front left lamp. Oh...its the same pretty girl manager mentioned by dev/numb. Very helpful and friendly. Got problem, won't dilly dally, straight change... This post has been edited by Cavino: Dec 19 2023, 02:10 PM |

Just got my Civic FE. What's the best value for tinted windows? What shop and what brand. I so noob.
Honda gave me promo of 1.5k for Titan 5. Just wondering if I can get cheaper options other than that? This post has been edited by meamth: Dec 19 2023, 06:33 PM |

Am about to tint my new car. Initially was thinking to go back to Raytech as I had good experience with their tints, but after reading some comments, I decided to check out HuperOptik. Got a quote to tint C40 on all windows for 2.4k for a new Civic. What do you guys think?
The spec for the C40 seems mediocre so my primary concern is heat under sunlight of course, would it be sufficient? I've used Vkool before but not expecting it to be on par but how much hotter can it be? |

Guys, anyone has done their car at Hamel ?
The shop assistant says, the tint has no brand, costs 1200rm for sedan. Says its ceramic and the tint changes according to the light. Any advice ? |

QUOTE(pillage2001 @ Dec 19 2023, 06:29 PM) Am about to tint my new car. Got a quote to tint C40 on all windows for 2.4k for a new Civic. What do you guys think? Can check out IrisPro if you are going for higher end tint especially if you are in Klang Valley. The specs are high, metalic-based sputter tint (generally better heat resistance). The best alternative to VKool that I have check out so far. All my cars using VKool Elite but too expensive nowadays, so looking for nearest alternative (3M is one but smart tag got issue, so no go). The manager of Klang Valley outlets are the same person. Responsive and very helpful. That is why I recommend. The spec for the C40 seems mediocre so my primary concern is heat under sunlight of course, would it be sufficient? I've used Vkool before but not expecting it to be on par but how much hotter can it be? At the 2.2K to 3K, you can go for Diamond Series (nano-titanium sputter), Elite or the new Diamond X is using silver sputter that has even higher heat resistance but have risk of oxidation. However they take a risk and give a warranty of 10 years for that. The tint has extra HEV Blue Light Protection. Really can consider if going high end. So far I already installed for 2 weeks. Diamond D60 in front and D60X/30X for the rest. Heat resistance is good. The tint is darker tho than VK Elite at 56%, but still looks clear. Can use the Elite tint for front windshield if want lighter one. This post has been edited by Cavino: Dec 20 2023, 09:05 AM |
