Kamasutra ideolgy for car wash:
1) Arouse it with spray of water to loosen up.
2) Gently stroke it with a mitt and shampoo. The more lubricity the better.
3) After climax…! Wash it with water and dry up for further usage…!!!
Care to change or edit it to make it better? English not good…!!!

I skip #2 most of the time. I find the power washer is strong enough to loosen up the dirt without soap. With 1 step less, I use less water to rinse the soap off.

Wheels a little more difficult and I soap it most of the time because it really gets dirty. Power washer helps a lot. If the car body is really dirty, I snow foam and leave it to dwell for a few minutes before I hose down with power washer.

These days because of the limited time I have, I use a blower to dry most parts of the car especially in between doors, mirror crevices and the wheels. I still use microfibre towel to dry the body.

Finally have time to feedback on this topic.

I agree with you on the importance of aspect (1) and (3) should be the most critical to any detailer.
As a matter of experience, I used the RM5 cheap masking tape once and after the exhausting waxing, i still have to clean up the glue residue. Eventually some still cannot clean up by rubbing with cloth, forced to use turpentine, essentially removing my wax also. An experience that I will never forget.

I have never seen the green and tan color 3M masking tape on shelf in any hardware store before. Are you talking about these:

Is it these different color 3M masking tape built for different purpose, like cement surface, wood surface, plastic surface, etc?

Good point you bring up about the length of the masking tape per unit. I am also not sure about the length of a common RM5 hardware store masking tape. I could have secretly take one out of my father collection and then pull it all out to measure it accurately though tongue.gif kidding. Think the price per unit length (RM per meter) is what should be counted by user. I will dig more infor into this.

What about the black color, automotive masking tape? this sounds more like purposely designed for automotive surfaces. Used before?

ok so it is very confidence now using the 3M masking tape is a much better choice and wiser choice for detailer.
But it is very expensive, I bought this from Ace Hardware:

To be honest I actually feel shocked when the cashier scan it for me, it costs about RM34.90 per unit. Well Ace Hardware is famous of selling thing in luxury price range though.
I will need to search for a more affordable supplier of this kind of masking tape. If you happen to recall the Klang shop name and address, please inform me.

Since masking tape is a common consumable product for detailing hobby, do you guys here always have group buy activity for this type of quality masking tape?

By the way, by KB you mean Kota Bahru ?

I previously bought ScotchBlue Painter's Tape, Multi-Use, .94-Inch by 60-Yard from Amazon @ US$3.67

That is very very very cheap compare to what I got from Ace Hardware here.
But after you include everything (shipping, tax, etc), by the time the tape reaches your hand, how much you have spent to acquire it?

No other cheaper local purchase alternative ah?

I've only seen them in a couple of stores only. One of them is back home/kampung in KB (Kota Bharu). I got mine from them. Not sure whether it's the same with the picture that you posted but the product code is (was?) 233+.

Is it these different color 3M masking tape built for different purpose, like cement surface, wood surface, plastic surface, etc?

I did some reading up quite some time ago about them. Can't remember exactly but 3M makes lots and lots of masking tape, some for general use and some for specific use. I remember the masking tapes for automotive use are rated for their adhesive strength (how strong it'll stick) and safe release period (how long the tape can safely stick to the surface before the adhesive gave way and would either transfer to the surface or loose the adhesiveness). There are some other technical info about them but can't remember already....been too long.

What about the black color, automotive masking tape? this sounds more like purposely designed for automotive surfaces. Used before?

Nope. Never heard or seen those type before.

Since masking tape is a common consumable product for detailing hobby, do you guys here always have group buy activity for this type of quality masking tape?

We did once for the green 233+ ones...loooong time ago. But now my KB guy only have them in 3/4" size. I can't remember exactly how much but the 3/4" size definitely cost me less than RM15/pcs the last time I bought them, which is early this year.

By the way, by KB you mean Kota Bahru ?

Yup
