interesting read found on nanoarmor.com.my

The one and only true anti-scratch coating around. Seeing is believing. Imagine: no more worries about accidental scratches by finger nails, handbag zippers, children’s bags/toys or the grazing of motorcycles on your side-mirrors. Over the years, we have been thanked countless of times how our anti-scratch protection saved the day.

With hardness of up to 12H (the highest paint protection system in the world – no one comes close!), it can also withstand small stone chips from roads & highways and because few chemicals can react to the rock-solid coating hardness, you have lesser worries about watermark, bird bombs, acid rain, salt water and tree gums. Give your car the finest protection there is in the world today.

This diamond-hard armor coating will last for the lifetime of the car. Our main ingredient consists of Titanium. This chemical element is exceptionally strong (having the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any metal), has high tensile strength, light weight, fatigue resistance, high crack resistance, able to withstand moderately high temperatures and has high corrosion resistance. It is no wonder that Titanium alloys are used in air.

[SIZE=7] So got this type of hardness one ar?  cool2.gif

The highest in the MOH scale is 10 - Diamond. Nothing else can cut diamond but diamond itself. So....go figure....

Ha, go to the shop and test first?  tongue.gif

If it works as intended and marketed, no need to work for rest of life ady. Sell to US and EU.
By the way, you guys should try Prima Hydro Max, as well as new stuffs from Duragloss, the Enviroshield Coating.

But the Duragloss Enviroshield Coating only last up to 2 years (mean could be less) according to Duragloss official website oh.
Doesn't seem like attractive enough in term of durability.

Yes, but consider it is almost WOWA type. It is good enough, and the price is only 35++ USD. Wipe on walk off for 2 years, to me it sounds good. It is currently hot in Autogeeks.

Can't deny on the price point it is indeed very cost effective.
You tried before already? Malaysia weather is always a worst case scenario test for any kind of coating.

Not yet got my hands on it. It is still hot new from oven even for the US market.

Things only getting expensive due to our poor MYR.

Question to all. Regarding masking tape.
In western country, most of the detailer use 3M automotive masking tape, which typically looks like this:

Sometime they also will use 3M painter masking tape, which looks like this:

The 2nd one (blue color) I have seen them being sold in Ace Hardware. But damn expensive like RM30+ per unit.
The 1st one (black color) I have never seen them any where in store or hardware shop.

1) Do you guys use these kind of masking tape only?
2) If you don't, what masking tape you use? normal hardware shop RM5 masking tape? Will it leave glue residue on your surface?
3) Do you know a cheaper place to buy these 3M masking tape (other than Ace hardware).

Any thought anyone?

Just a quick note before I start, I did a little checking on the product code/number and it seems like they might have change them since I last checked. So, I'll just assume that the green, blue and tan coloured tape that I have are the same as the ones mentioned above. I don't have the yellow one.

Firstly, they're TOTALLY far superior than those normal 'RM5' masking tape that are selling in the hardware store. Two major differences:

1. Adhesive transfer/residue when peeling the tape off is *almost* non-existent, even on plastics.

2. You can safely polish over the tape without worrying about the tape edges peeling off or polishes sticking onto the tape surface.

3. The adhesive is strong, but somehow 3M had made it easy to remove.

I think the main concern when choosing masking tape would be no. 1 & 3, as cleaning off adhesive residue is a PITA especially on plastic trims, etc. Strong adhesion could mean higher chances of peeling off the tape together with paint, but somehow the 3M tapes have strong adhesion but easy to peel off.

Now, the differences between the three that I have.

The blue seems to have thicker edges (more like the thickness is uniform) whereas the green and tan ones are thinner towards the edge. So when you're polishing across the tape, you'd get a little bit more polish caught there.

I also feel that the green and tan are less 'stickier' than the blue, but nevertheless, all three are easy to peel off and I haven't had any adhesive transfer/residue yet with any of them.

Of the three, the surface of the green one has the most 'wax-feel'. Sometime I can even feel the wax on my fingers after taping.

Between the green and tan, I feel that the tan tape is a little easier to mould and shape around emblems, wordings, etc. and also around corners and edges.

I only see the blue ones selling in ACE Hardware. The green ones I think can get in hardware store, I know one store in Klang has them but forgot the name of the store. I got the green and the tan tape from my 'regular' supplier in KB. Both the green and tan 3/4" cost me RM9/pcs.

Another thing that you might want to take note is that these 3M tapes are normally 55m in length. I'm not sure what's the length of the 'normal' masking tape but, judging from the thickness of the roll, they sure looks lesser than that. So it *might not* be as cheap as you think.

If the DG coating is anything like the one DG malaysia and Maddetailer had been selling these last few of years, then it's really a bang-for-bucks coating. Well...I wouldn't categorize is as a 'coating' per se...more like a 'super-sealant'. I don't think can get the 2 years durability here. I did manage to get it past 6 month before the beading/sheeting started to reduce drastically, heavy water spots starts to form and dirt starting to easily stick to the surface. But considering I got it for 'only' a little bit more than RM100 for a 110ml bottle, I would consider this a value-for-money 'coating'. Oh...used around 25ml to coat my whole Waja...a few years back. [they might have changed the formula though...or at least they definitely had put it into a 'proper' bottle/packaging].

That's the easiest way of explaining and the products show there readily available to the person who asks the question mah tongue.gif
If not after he see the video and read the thread, I'm sure his next question is "where to get the stuff"
then if our reply is "purchase from USA/Europe, with shipping fee equals to product price itself", then people get scared and run away from this hobby already cool2.gif
Let him slowly get both of his foot wet first biggrin.gif Then when he not satisfy with Meguiar's which is available locally, we poison him with USA/Europe stuff. brows.gif

I like his series of detailing drive clean videos too. Watch everyone of them.
But his stuff is not cheap one oh, i tell you. However he never bother to sell it as a mean of profit. He created them for his own use. Selling them to others are just secondary business to him.
