Does anybody know when did the m17 r5 came out in Malaysia?

I am contemplating on buying now or wait on the GTX800 series cards. Any suggestions? :-S

Thanks!

Thanks sir raymond. Was trying to analyze the time when r5 came out and if that is around this month too, i would probably wait but if not, then i might buy by the end of the month.

Thanks!

its been a long time since i didnt come here... how are you guys?

after nearly 9 months since i got my m17xr4... i am still satisfy with this alienware laptop.. what a great buy and thanks for the recomendations...

i have a question with alienware audio actually.. i know the speaker made by klipsch...it is a good speaker... but my concern is the internal soundblaster sound card.. the reason is.. i recently aquire a Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro.. which is my first non-gaming headphone/set..i am amaze... the sound is far more superb.. comparing with my turtle beach 7s, razers headphones and steelseries..(and other headphone i had)...

the question is:

-is our alienware sound blaster sound card really a good sound card (given that alienware is a premium laptop) to fully utilised my new beyerdynamic headphone... or should i get an external digital to analog converter?

i would like to page an audiophile guru and an alienware beast owner.... mr joshuachew if you have an opinion on this matter..

thank you smile.gif
Sound cards for laptops essentially are DACs too. But sound cards for computers utilize cheap DAC chips to say the very most and rely heavily on software EQ to make the sound sound 'better' to the untrained ear.
External DACs or DAC Amp combos will push high end cans and IEMs to the next level. Don't take my word for it, try it out yourself and you'll know what I am talking about. External DACs utilize fully high end components and provide the best sound from hardware prowess alone and not software tweaking and EQ.
My recommendation is to try out the CEntrance DACport. It's small. And affordable (for an Alienware owner, I am guessing that it should be). Try to bring your headphones and see the difference it makes from the M17 headphone outs and from the CEntrance. I used to use it with my Beyer DT880 too when it was the flagship at that time. Before I got the T1 which is Beyers current flagship.
If you do test it out one day. I would like to know what's your take on the difference. (:

wow... thanks for the reply bro... and for the recommendation too... since you put it that way... i guess an external DAC i wayyy better than the internal DAC on alienware...

i am contemplate to get this mobile DAC or Dekstop DAC... my alienware nowdays sits more at home since i am travelling less nowdays...been looking at audioengine DAC... and now i can consider CEntrance too...

thanks again.. i will lurk moar at audiophile thread to learn...

p/s: now whenever i am slaying/farming demon in diablo 3, i mute all game sound... and listen to music all the way... nice.... hhehehe smile.gif

I found something weird, my GTX 260M is set at 1V by default as it supposed to be 0.9V for M15x. No wonder the temps reaching 90+C when gaming. Dropping to 0.9V makes it drop to 75C

Change it with NiBiTor. Take the vBIOS using GPU-Z and edit it in NiBiTor

updated to 8.1 update 1 via offline mode. seamless. offline mode is better to save some time to wait for the update file downloads (800+ MB per OS; it's time consuming)

just download and then follow the installation sequence highlighted here, http://www.extremetech.com/computing/17809...-free-right-now

repeat for all the machines.

So I just download those 6 patches and install them accordingly how they have mentioned to install em right? anything else?

As this sentence. 'Once you’ve downloaded Update 1, you will have six separate patches that need to be installed in a very specific order. ' confuses me. Is update 1 a different thing or these 6 patches will give u 8.1 update 1?

yes, following the sequence worked fine for me. (did this for 3 machines already). to avoid confusion, it's better to visit the official page, http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/de...s.aspx?id=42335

windows 8.1 update consists of 6 separate patches. usually we already have KB2919442, the prerequisite to install KB2919355.

use windows 8. less than 10 secs.
windows 7 is generally more 'heavier' than windows 8.

or use RAID 0.
