QUOTE(Aura @ Apr 15 2014, 10:52 AM) UEFI vs bios boot. Definitely UEFI takes the cake. It's significantly faster, IMO. Maybe difference is minimal. But u can feel it definitely. ok so i need to change to win8 UEFI later.. haha.. As for RAID-0 setup, the only benefit of RAID-0 is in gaming when u r playing open world games. Compared to single drive, the transition loading between sections is seamless. The other obvious benefit in RAID-0 is reduction of loading times for apps but this one is hard to see. As for Windows booting time, u can't do much by changing ur setup. It will definitely be faster but comparing side by side between Windows 8 and 7, Windows 8 will always prevail bcos of how the way that Windows 8 handles the operations within the inside. In other words, better architecture. If zat_90s really wanted to reduce the loading times on Windows 7, I recommend RAID-0 4 SSDs. Yet again, comes down to cost and also max bandwidth that ur motherboard supports. My only final conclusion is if u really wanted that superior boot time, change to Windows 8 instead of sticking to Windows 7. That would be the cheapest alternative that u can find at this moment. thanks for info bro |

finally managed to solve my client's M17x R2 screen issue.
actually the faulty part is just the graphics card sitting, resit the graphics card and blue vertical lines gone. now works like charm. |

QUOTE(horns @ Apr 16 2014, 12:07 AM) well, i tried by dismantle one of the cards and turn on. it appears that the main graphics card is not running at all, as there is no display. tried fit in the secondary graphics card and removed the main, there is display. then i tried install both, and works like charm again. |

QUOTE(Xirality @ Apr 16 2014, 04:20 AM) i think 20% boost from 780M, and of course lower TDP, means less heat generated compare to 780M.QUOTE(horns @ Apr 16 2014, 07:26 AM) i'd like that too. but i hope its possible (or if i never heard of it). |

QUOTE(raymondtong94 @ Apr 16 2014, 08:21 AM) i think 20% boost from 780M, and of course lower TDP, means less heat generated compare to 780M. for aw17 the heat from 780m is fine. the triple-heatpipe gpu heatsink is good enough. (however it's not in the case of cpu. my 4900mq generates a lot of heat during gaming. it's still bearable i.e. no throttling yet at room temperatures) r4 on the other hand are fine, the cpu heatsink are good for 3820qm and 3840qm with slight oc at room temperatures.i'd like that too. but i hope its possible (or if i never heard of it). -- yes it's possible with some tweaks here and there. however initially i think it's for desktops/servers only. (there is no laptop cpu that can handle 64gb ram yet :/) |
