Look at all my stars!! Senior Member 2,044 posts Joined: Jul 2008	btw horns (whenever you head here, reply ) do you get this weird sound problem. All of a sudden sound get super high and echoish and doesnt makes sense as all. In short it gets F-ed up and then I have to restart my laptop then it's back to normal. It used to happen to me.. but this last one week it happened to me thrice. Maybe it's my 1 year old windows problem? or sound driver problem? can you pass me link for the latest sound drivers for R4?

My 7980M has been problematic the past few months, they've changed the card 5 times now and I'm still getting massive artifacts on the screen while doing normal things (surfing, work, etc) I guess I'll have to call them back again for support. (this year i have a few more because of w7 to w8 pro to w8.1) yeah reinstalling is better to check if it's the os. to me, it's likely not the sound driver. Gpu changed 5 times, 3 of those were doa. The guy on the phone once offered me the 670, told him to go fly a kite. My next planned upgrade for this laptop is only in 2015, was hoping it wouldnt give me so much trouble already and it's only one year old so far. Really disappointment as this wasn't a cheap laptop. Btw, I've found something interesting about 5.1 sound on Alienware systems when outputing to external 5.1 speakers. Apparently the jacks must be connected to the port at the same time before performing sound test. If sound test is done before plugging all in, no matter how u test, it will not output the other channels eventhough all r plugged in. U have to unplug and plug everything back in again before performing sound test and selecting the proper sound config. At first, I thought my laptop got some issue but after fiddling around for a while, then I realized this. I don't understand why it has this kind of behavior. Has anyone experienced this before?

If I do that, then I might as well reinstall the OS and have everything refreshed. I'll call them later and sort it out, let's see what else they can do. M17x is only 1 year and 3 months. Sigh.

I have no time to experiment. If I do that, then I might as well reinstall the OS and have everything refreshed. I'll call them later and sort it out, let's see what else they can do. M17x is only 1 year and 3 months. Sigh. maybe next time ask them to bring mobo (with latest bios), gpu, and lcd (change the mobo first). you might wanna try reinstall the gpu driver too. sorry i am not familiar with the driver for 7970m. so far my experience with aw is not bad. (nevermind i touched the wooden table already)

I'm getting a Samsung EVO 1TB for the PS4 but I was thinking if I should instead put it into the AW and use the Crucial M4 512GB in the PS4 instead. To be honest, I have 245GB free in the AW now because I only use it for programs and games. Movies, music, etc I keep in the other 1TB HDD. I think I'll just keep the Crucial in the AW, it's still fast as ever. 5 seconds to shut down, less than 19 seconds to login screen. I'll just upgrade the SDD when I upgrade this machine in 2015

I'll just upgrade the SDD when I upgrade this machine in 2015 samsung evo is a good drive. just put it on the device which you need space the most. for now, personally i still like 840 pro and plextor m5pro xtreme (due to mlc flash hehe)
