btw horns (whenever you head here, reply
do you get this weird sound problem. All of a sudden sound get super high and echoish and doesnt makes sense as all. In short it gets F-ed up and then I have to restart my laptop then it's back to normal. It used to happen to me.. but this last one week it happened to me thrice. Maybe it's my 1 year old windows problem? or sound driver problem? can you pass me link for the latest sound drivers for R4? |

QUOTE(refnulf @ Nov 26 2013, 02:00 AM) Ahhh, nice to see a new thread! tell you wht My 7980M has been problematic the past few months, they've changed the card 5 times now and I'm still getting massive artifacts on the screen while doing normal things (surfing, work, etc) I guess I'll have to call them back again for support. QUOTE(refnulf @ Nov 27 2013, 12:32 PM) Depends really,I prefer the older designs and build of the M17x laptops. Specs though, the newer ones are always going to be faster, better, etc. Same for me M17x R4 is the model to buy! or M18xR2. Either one of them. The new M17x surely looks good from outside but the keyboard and inside design disappoints me a lot. Plus the new one is more thick. If you're just a normal gamer I think processor like 3840QM i7 is wayy good enough and you still can upgrade to 780M on R4 probably 880M too later on who knows But to be honest, anything a year or two back will be a good purchase. Especially if its a highly specced machine. Important thing is warranty. I make sure I always max out the warranty for such cases. Also buying a refurbished or second hand R4 with warranty will be cheaper (y) although yes not dirt cheap as R4 still has its respect in the market This post has been edited by mansooriqbal: Nov 27 2013, 02:48 PM |

QUOTE(Rei7 @ Nov 28 2013, 06:01 PM) Any cards would be awesome bro as long as GTX 6xx or 7xx if there is any.. I myself suggest to get it from a trust able ebay or amazon seller. You might find better price (Y) check taobao too. Anyone selling new or second hand GPU will give you 1 to 3 months 'personal' warranty anyway. At least with international seller you gotta just bare shipping cost and get 1 year warranty or more depending on thr terms and conditions. Shipping these days through lowyat agents quite cheap already. Good luck (y)putochip123 got any 680 or 780? In short it's on you to fish a good deal out internationally... if you don't want to make much efforts then I recommend sellers here who sell GPU directly but it might create a hole in your pocket |

I was remembering my G55vw with i7 3610QM with 660M after switching to R4 with 3840QM and 680M. I could really feel a lot of difference in just about everything! Especially in processing and gaming. |

QUOTE(putochip123 @ Nov 29 2013, 01:51 AM) 680m at RM1500, 3 months dell 1 to 1 exchange warranty. maybe for people here but not for me. GTX770m RM800, 1 Year Dell 1 to 1 Exchange warranty i think my price are far cheaper than those international seller, and warranty are easier from me..... Like I said before it's all on you to search a good deal.. This is me trying to find a 680M 4gb in 30 seconds. http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r....&id=15942837187 Shipping through agent from China to MY less than 100RM. Probably till 50RM+ish. So it depends. |

QUOTE(putochip123 @ Nov 29 2013, 02:45 AM) I wish that supplier could have reduce price for us. So we can sell cheaper. That's another debate. Something made in China, expensive in Malaysia, cheaper in USA. Makes no sense but 'politics' some other legal things involved too Most of the people think that we or I wanna sell expensive and ear a lot. Where actually our margin are high as well. Most of the time we are earning workmanship . Some who just buy card only. We only earn RM180 per card.Haiz..... We ccan't complain supplier as well. Who ask us born in MALAYSIA??? Haha But keep the good work on I think you're the most active AW seller around here. One thing good you did is that you trusted AW rather than any other gaming notebook. (y) for that. |

QUOTE(horns @ Nov 29 2013, 08:55 AM) yeah it depends on how a person define 'better deals'. LOL hornsware. (y)to many, they need good parts, good warranty, and good service. that i think putochip123 can deliver with a fair price. a small fraction of us need the parts only, because we can handle the machine well. in the case of getting parts only, some of us prefer to have a good warranty (local warranty usually, because when things break down you save time to wait for shipping to and fro), while some don't. as for the price.. it can be as simple as that it's a business, so volume matters. 30mil people in Malaysia versus 314mil people in US (it's 10 times man. although other factors still apply but volume alone, or rather, market size, is enough to justify why things in US are cheaper than MY). furthermore if you're talking about China, it has good market size and it is also the origin of parts. (if i were in China i will get all parts and build my own aw18, well, m18x r2, maybe name it hornsware and sells it online lol!) that's why i consider in general putochip123 is a good seller to many people. in fact he's one of the sellers that i think still care. |

QUOTE(horns @ Nov 29 2013, 10:52 AM) .. or it can be hornyware Pervertedware now how's that sound? i just create a business model that makes people rich on the side note: there is still a small glitch that i need to fix to run w8.1 pro on r4. (perhaps it's my system tweaks) the issue is when i enable w8 fast boot (secureboot disabled), the laptop will not shut down properly (need force shutdown). i don't have this issue while on w8 pro. damn. I didn't load 8.1 yet. Super busy these days I think by the time I load I can ask you for solutions if I get any problem |

QUOTE(refnulf @ Dec 10 2013, 12:37 PM) The artifacts on the screen that happens pretty often. Also after I recover from sleep mode, the screen looks funny. Moving lines across the screen that doesn't go away till I restart. It's getting to be pretty frustrating. Be happy la! I am sure you will get a new machine [attachmentid=3762037] EDIT: Contacted Dell today and spoke to another rep and explained the issue. So far GPU changed 5 times and LCD changed once. Touch pad was changed once but that was another issue. The keyboard is beginning to not respond that well on certain keys but that's a different matter. Rep said that she was going to submit a request for a new unit. Of course, I'm not very happy with that. I like what I have now, I just want the problem fixed. And if it's approved, I get one of the new ugly designs I've had this machine for about 1.5 years now and it's been pretty problematic this whole year. Also, if you're talking about the drivers it's not a great subject either. I think I'm on 13.8 and that's pretty much the most stable one so far. The latest ones suck and I've been through most of them till this point. Nvidia would have been a lot easier when it comes to drivers, but the expense would have taken my notebook over my budget. |
