While your belief (b4 survey) is that there is no working professional willing for a room share, I actually already have got two contacts on hands.

Dunno if you quote wrong or what but I wasn't the one who said that "there is no working professional willing to share rooms."

Anyway if you wanna live like bangala then go ahead lor. I've heard so many complaints from people working here about cannot tahan their landlord/landlady/housemate, living in same house also so much friction what more living in the same room. Hopefully you get a room with pleasant roommates.

I have got a job offer from a Sg Public listed company, Basic Sgd2.8k, + overseas allowance, + OT.
Simply asked a question in this thread, and I realize it's actually better to go back to easyroommate.com.sg, at least I have got a few replies which has offer the a common room for share from ranges SGD 280 to SGD500.
The ultimate goal to work in Sg is not to live in a bangala lifestyle, it is to find way to optimize the monthly saving, as well as better job scope and learning perspect.
Here let me share with you what is the saving with SGD 2800
F&B : 500
Rental: 500 (maximum for share room)
Transport: 100
Daily goods: 200
Tax: I think it does not apply to annual income SGD33600
Minimum entertainment and social: 150
Saving : SGD 1350

One benefits of room share is that, it usually didn't bond you in contract of minimum 6 months of tenant period.
While your belief (b4 survey) is that there is no working professional willing for a room share, I actually already have got two contacts on hands.

Cheers for this, good info sharing.

Can I ask, did you study in Singapore/Overseas, and is your job a fresh grad position?

Congrats.

wow 4 years is a lot of experience. 2800 SGD looks like ~ starting pay in my industry - and it happens to be 2800 MYR in Malaysia too. unless ur overseas allowance is very high.

It is possible to find shared room. The hairdresser I was talking to the other day was 3 girls sharing one master bedroom in some hdb somewhere. Unfortunately other than going to mrt station public notice boards I don't know how one would find such rooms.

Having said that ... I really don't understand why you would bother coming to SG if you can only afford a bangala lifestyle.

now got condo call ppl bangala la... 3 ppl share 1 room u say bangla... 18ppl share 1 hostel call ah tiong? shakehead.gif

rclxms.gif agreed... but dont forget rent decrease is in the avg, due to newer areas like punggol where not ppl want to rent... rental at hot areas will hold

What's your position in the insurance industry? If you get hired in Sg, would the pay same amount to the M'sia current pay? E.g. MYR3800 = SGD 3800?

hmm i should say i'm still a student but it's an industry i would consider entering if i were able to find a job in it - it's an industry i'm "trained" for

i'm looking at entry level positions and based on my observations, the starting pay is roughly the same number in MYR or SGD. between 2500-3000, increasing with the level of qualification.

Hi guys, recently I'm working in UOB bank. But I'm actually now trying apply to Singapore (Not internally transfer), it's seem difficult for me get into banking industry there. Anyone here can give some comments to me, I got rejected from many applications sad.gif.

I wondering is it I'm not a PR, that why they don't hire me?

Hi Mate, i'm applying for banks there cos i got background frm bank also. Apparently it is VERY hard to get into SG banks unless you're PR holder or looking for sales position. I'm currently stuck in airline call centre while still pinning hard for a bank here tho.

i think i know which field u are talking about..
but do note that over the last few years... the industry is oversupplied with the fresh grads coming from many uni...
and most of the co. now dun really like to hire freshy and train them..

so I can see a lot of grads applies for intern post to show their passion in the field.. but anyway.. I dun think its as fancy as you would imagine it will be.. there are many other field that you can also consider and can possibly earn much higher pay.. haha..

the work life balance in asia countries are also not as good as the western's 1.. for example if you compared to australia.. lol

i know all this

by now i have no illusions

it's been a ride but it's only just beginning

at the end of the day though all related fields are difficult to get into, and if you want more pay you need to work more and work hard - it's crazy how few jobs there are anymore and it is almost like you need to be the top 5% and have insane luck
