I just received my driving license.

You can first go book basic theory test from the driving center (usually waiting time abt 3-4 months). Then go JPJ to get your extract (extract cannot be more than 6 months when you apply for conversion). At JPJ you need to fill up form and state reason why you want the extract. If you state that you want to convert to Sg license, they will punch a hole in your Msia license making it invalid.
After you pass you BTT,  you can apply for Sg license conversion.

so if u drive to jpj...u will be stranded there? cause u got no license to drive home sweat.gif sweat.gif
You do not even need to be present to get the extract...it can be done on behalf.
my dad got the extract for me end of last year and posted it to me without me being in JPJ

Ya, that's what i was thinking too! If they punch a hole then you can't drive back.

Actually it depends on the JPJ branch. My hometown branch required me to be there to get the extract. Cannot get on behalf.

Hi all. I've been offered a job in Singapore in semicon industry as RND engineer with the wage of SD4k. I've 4 years experience in this field.
Any one from the same industry currently working there has any opinion? Not sure about the salary range of this semicon field in Singapore....

It's a subcon. My concern is they will bond me for few years. Of cause can go anytime just need to paid them back some figure.
Is it normal for foreigner like us who work there in engineering field get bonded?

you can still exit SG after doing your fingerprinting and before getting your card
imagine those who stay in jb how? book hotel for 4 days?
however, do note that u need to get your card within 2 weeks or 1 month or 2 months (forgot) or they will destroy it.
*
You are right. I was a bit silly to think that I can't lol!

EP card must be collected one week after it's assigned date. Assigned date is given immediately after your finished your photo and finger print processing. Unless there is a technical/administration delay, they will destroy it after 1 week of delay.

Thanks for your reply! I didn't get to read this before I went to Singapore. Still, it is good to know. smile.gif

What is the reason for bond??? Weird unless they send you oversea for training or thing like starting bonus. $4k for 4 years is average for most of the semiconductor engineers but slightly underpaid for designer.

BTW if your company is SSMC then good luck to you...

I suppose every subcon is like shit.
Yeah right...usually here in Malaysia they do bond you 1 or 2 years if they give you sign on bonus 1 or 2 months. But this one...hmm...

Maybe they think they paid for my visa or EP so bond me...not sure how much it cost though.

Anyway still need to negotiate the offer.

hmm..i dont see the reason to be bonded just being hired by them..
my friend is working for subcon too but he is not bonded at all when he joined them..

bonding is a no-no❌ unless it's a very good deal that your are getting or very poor market condition.

hi guys, wanna ask some sifu here about how to find job/interview in singapore from malaysia.

1. do u guys applied online jobstreet/jobdb.etc and travel to singapore for interview?? where do u guys stay then? travel by bus or plane?

2. or just go to singapore 1st, then start looking for job on newspaper and online? what if u cant get a job in 30days, u cant stay longer than that right? and again where do u guys stay then?

3. as a IT fresh grad and finishing my last subject very soon, any suggestions whether i should get experience in msia or try my luck to apply junior/'fresh grad'/'no experience needed' job in singapore? i believe i do have some advantages compared to any other IT fresh grad since i've done some projects during my fyp and internship. P/S* my convocation is held in 2 months later, i was thinking to work in msia for at least 2 months, and after my convocation i will start planning again. any thoughts?
