u should actually apply for both sides.. if not u will be wasting alot of time..

I have thought of that but I don't think it's possible since I'm planning to go sg next week (for about 2 weeks) to give it one final try. Hopefully, being physically there will help boost my chances of landing in a job. smile.gif

So what if suddenly got call for interview in msia while I'm at sg? Like that jialat, right? haha tongue.gif

I've got a question here. Can sg employers/recruiters find out my employment history in msia when they do a background check?

Just applied to around 50 companies in Singapore. 2 weeks have passed, no reply at all..

I'm an engineering fresh grad. Is it really that hard to get a job in Singapore now? I thought the Fair Consideration Framework will only be implemented starting August 2014..

How long should I continue waiting before I should give up and start applying job in Malaysia?

Or anyone got any lobang for a Materials & Manufacturing Engineering fresh grad?? biggrin.gif

Any advice will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
*
Very hard if you apply as fresh graduate online, unless you have experience then headhunter will find you.

Singapore wants to protect their local fresh graduate by doing that Fair Consideration Framework.

As my personal experience, even as an experienced engineer MOM was giving a hard time for my company to hire me until I proven my overseas skills and experience through black and white.

Better get some experience first. It is not bad if you gain some experience at Malaysia first.

You have to state your experience during an interview. If you wish to conceal some work experience it is possible, but dont add too much that people can smell the bullshit covered up. They usually know how good you are when they interview you. A lot of questions to test your knowledge and experience.

Usually your SG employer will ask for referee but lets be honest here, HR will not give a dam to call your referee. As far I know they never called mine. Unless it is really high paying job or important role in the company.

Anything within graduate to managers, they wont be bothered to call your previous company.

It is a matter of job role and their interest.

If graduate, malaysia employer will proceed. If experienced role, they will wait for you.

SG probably is doing well in the health and bio science, banking, OnG and marine. Those sectors are doing pretty well now. Try your luck.

I'm not trying to add anything but trying to conceal instead, because I've worked for a few months and those few months really don't add up to much of a working experience. So when asked if I have any working experience, I prefer to come clean, as a fresher, less hassle and lesser questions.

But I'm afraid if they can find out that I've worked a few months. If that is so, then I'll tell the truth that I've worked for a few months.

You can alter work period. Is no harm doing so. What they are doing is to check your experience in the job if it is suitable to match the skill set that the company wants.

In MNC they will do a background check for sure. But in mid and small company they wont care. If you are in good terms with your colleagues, you will never have this problem. They will help out for sure. Use them as your referee. Now you see why it is important to make friend in the company. brows.gif

Any work experience is better than no work experience. Even though it is short, tell them what u have gained during this short period.

Has anyone here actually gone to EPSC to request for an issuance of EP by themselves? Apparently my employer wants me to do so.

How was the process? I have made an appointment for the request of issuance but do I have to make another appointment for fingerprinting and registration?

Also, I read on the MOM website that they need an

**Immigration White Card (IMM27)
(For foreigners who are not existing Work Pass or Immigration Pass holders only.)

I would have already filled this up and gave it to the immigration officer at the check point. Does this mean I have to give them the embarkation portion of the card? If I gave the MOM officer that portion, how am I to leave Singapore LOL?

Or, are they asking me to get a unfilled IMM27 form?

Also, I know for a fact that the EP card can be collected 4 days after the issuance and registration has been done. Am I able to leave Singapore and return to collect it after 4 days?

Thanks for any reply and apologies if the questions sounded rather silly! I am so just so worried about this EP thing and I want to do it absolutely right! Plus, staying in Singapore is expensive so I'd rather travel to the place rather than waiting 4 days for the card. smile.gif

ppl normally do it after working.. so nt much issue..

Oh no! Is that so. Thanks for your reply. My employer needs the EP for salary purposes. Then I better change my appointment.

Yep I have gotten my IPA and FIN. My employee is one of Singapore's ministry and apparently they need it so that I can be given salary. sweat.gif

The MNC I work for engages a background check agency to verify personal data. Employment history, education, etc. I don't know in what detail though.
