just would like to know which bank is more lenient or generous in approving credit card application provided I have no credit card at the moment. would like to use the card for petrol to earn cash rebate. I tried applying in February but was rejected by ambank and Citibank. should I try another bank or try next year would be better?

Hi guys,
For cashback, is Hong Leong's offerings the best?
If HL Wise vs HL Mach, which is better?

yes, you can. also, can try to apply your first credit card at the bank where your monthly salary is credited.

Did your bankers state any reason of rejection? you could try UOB One card though, its one of the best interms of petrol to earn cash rebates, heard it was quite linient in terms of approval.

Hi, i want to ask about the card interest rate for new card member. I just take public bank credit card for few month and it charge me 18% interest rate per annum even though i didn't make any late payment before. When i call to ask PB customer service, they reply me that every their new card member is charge 18% interest rate per annum until their management review and do credit checking on the account, then only it will reduce to 15% interest rate per annum. I did not found any statement or clarification like this at their website or card product disclosure. Is this true and fair?

when you say you did not make any late payment before, but you only pay minimum payment right? generally 18% pa is the standard so it's true and fair.
otherwise, you can apply for other cc that offers you 8.88% for good paymaster.

every month i pay more than minimum payment...sometime is 1/4 or 1/6 from the outstanding balance, becoz i plan to clear the 2K outstanding in 5 months time. So that means if i pay minumum payment for 12 months consecutively and no late payment, then only they offer 15% pa? Becoz i check from my card product sheet, the interest rate tier is 15%, 17% and 18%. I just hope i know about this before i apply the card.

or you should call to convert the outstanding to ezy payment (not sure pbb allows that), so that the amount you pay monthly would be fixed and you won't incur so high interest.

Son, you're off to a very BAD start. Forgive me for being blunt. Just got new CC and not making full payment for your purchase is a recipe for disaster. Before you know it, amount will snowball to your credit limit and you'll be knocking on AKPK doors.

If u cannot afford to pay in full at end of month, don't swipe.

Don't swipe anymore until u clear your current balance.

agree, don't use future money which u can't pay back .
we use the credit card to enjoy the benefit and making us save money

"For example, new graduates earning a salary of RM2,000 monthly buy a car with monthly installment of RM500 to RM600, regardless of other costs such as fuel, maintenance and insurance.

"So they use credit cards to support the costs. When credit card debts rise, they resort to personal loans with high interest rate to settle debts," he said.

Guys, check with you. Here is my profile.

I've been working in Singapore for 2 years already, currently I'm holding CIMB Master Card for couple of years and it will expire on October this year. I'm thinking of changing to another banks credit card as I don't really find CIMB credit card useful in terms of cash back or installment plan.

I'm actually looking for a credit card that have the flexi installment payment whenever I purchase an expensive stuff, or have cashback on petrol and maybe daily grocery like Guardian, Watson etc. So need you guys to recommend me which one I should go for it.

And one question, for bank to determine my salary, is it a one to one conversion. For example, having salary of $3.5k in SG, when malaysia bank needs to evaluate the credit card, they eventually will review the salary as RM3.5k, is that true?

the amex card is good for weekends spending (accepted at many petrol stations including bhp, also in guardian and watson too).
for weekends spending, you can get 5%+5x treat points (equivalent to another 2%).
however, weekdays spending only entitled for 5x treat points.

Thanks for the clarification. Just wanna check one last with you. How about the installment plans? Can the fees be seperated into 10months, 1 year etc installment plan after purchase?
