I have been rejected by 2 banks previously, Citibank and ambank. now I have taken the advise given to me earlier to apply for uob one as people are telling me uob is more lenient. I would like to know if uob rejects me too, and in future I wanna apply for uob again is it possible? how long after being rejected can I apply again? I have no credit card at the moment, basic alone not even 2k but after adding overtime I will have about 2.3k. would like to use the card for petrol as I have just got a new car. but this time I am not putting much hope as I have been rejected twice already...
*
give or take 6 months before reapply.

do give UOB a try, no harm for you anyway. if you have more supporting documents, the better. e.g. epf statement, bank statements, 3-4 months of pay slips .. all to prove your avg monthly income is around 2.3k.

Would like to know which bank offers waiver for gst and annual fees, have rewards points, cash rebate and discounts for shopping, petrol and unifi. My annual income below 36k. Thank you.
*
best card for you is still Maybank 2 Card Amex-Visa/Mastercard.

a tad difficult for annual income below 36k. if possible, you can pledge via fixed deposit?

Would like to know why everyone is telling me mbb cards? Honestly my salary credit in hlb n my car loan v hlb too. Thought it wld be easier getting hlb. But I cant decide based on the benefits of different cards as I want all the benefits in 1 card but knowing its impossible.
*
each card's benefits may not suit anyone. also depends on your spending behavior sweat.gif

best, of course is HLB Wise with 10% cashback. but the entry barrier is high. stringent application and cashback is based on 3 categories. any spending outside of the category will gain you nothing in return (well, at least give you the RM50 per transaction count). Imagine, paying Unifi at RM150 (rounded to xRM50). This will give you 3X RM50 transaction count, but in the end, you gain nothing back.

next favorite is Maybank 2 Cards. 5% on any merchants during weekend transaction. mid-level entry barrier, but quite a good all-in-one card to have (i've been using Amex exclusively since my monthly spend is sub-1K/mth)

others, e.g. Aeon Watami. 3% cashback per quarter with cumulative of RM3k spending to be eligible. simpler card and entry barrier is low (more benefits during signup, e.g. 1st year AF waived + RM50 rebate). Benefits if you have large spending (RM3k to RM5k) in each quarter.

another good for petrol is UOB One with 5% cashback. some horror experience if pumping petrol after middle of the month (cashback quota depleted!).

so far, personally, Maybank 2 Cards combo is my only card in the wallet. I got no other cards. Happy with it for 1yr+, only heart-attack when I had to spend >RM1k per month (which effectively blew past my cashback).

I dont understand why uob cashback depleted after pumping in the middle of the month. And wise by hlb has a high barrier? I thought requirements 24k per annum? I was thinking mach by hlb or rhb vox and uob one. Please tell me more on uob one? Tq
*
UOB One's petrol cashback quota is limited to RM900k per month, first come first serve basis. most cardmembers already hit the threshold by middle of the month, so any petrol pump may or may not get any cashback.

read more details of this card's T&Cs

HLB Wise's high entry barrier due to stringent application processes/policies. furthermore, you are limited to 3 spending categories (MCC dependent).

yeah, happened to me on 2 separate months liao sweat.gif 1 month cuz i miscalculated my monthly spending (>1k), and this month due to motortakaful renewal (~1.4k).

once my spending is expected to reach >1k/mth, for sure i need another card to reap better rewards.

wise+amex+watami is a great combo, esp watami's 0% BT can be used to spread wise/amex outstanding wink.gif

now my maybankard amex is approved, then i realize actually many of my usual online payment thing cannot swipe online or not accepted.

....

please shed me some lights, do i still proceed with watami card, or is there another card to compensate the spending that amex card cannot be used? or just stick to the MB2G and use mastercard for the pity 1TP.
*
The only tedious problem is the insurance. Etiqa accepts amex via phone call only, so you need to call every month to renew. Do call them up for info.

Your GE, most cards don't give you anything better. Even with insurances, u only hit 1k/mth, then no point getting watami.

The rest, you can rearrange your preferred merchants who accepts amex smile.gif

even if the IVR menu doesnt list out, sometimes, pressing 0 (zero) will direct you to a human to answer the call.

that is what i did when i fed up pressing the IVR options, and most freakin' annoying is the call just cut off for no reason.

in any IVR "page", i'd just keep trying my luck pressing 0. some page accepts it, some will just ignore and ask you to make other selection.

rclxm9.gif  but 1 problem... no 5x points... so u have to spend RM10k to get 10k TP to offset GST
*
Benefits:

No Annual Fee with no conditions attached.
Umrah Trip. One weekly Umrah winner (package for 2pax) will be selected to win an Umrah package (for Muslims) or holiday package (for non-Musilims) – non exchangeable / transferable. Every RM200 retail spending in one single receipt entitle for 1x entry. Campaign starts 1st August 2014 and ongoing. Winner selection will be done every six (6) months.
5% rebate on petrol and groceries on Friday and Saturday, capped at maximum of RM50.00 per customer per month (Principal Cardmember only)
Charity Fund. With every spending the Bank will contribute 0.1% for charity purposes.
FREE Maybank Touch ‘n Go Zing card
TreatsPoints. Every RM1 spend locally and overseas earn 1 Treatspoints

not a bad addition to existing MBB2card users here.

1) use existing TPs to quickly offset the GST (i presume this is allowed/can be done). generate 5X TP from Amex, use it for ikhwan-i cards smile.gif

2) additional RM50 cashback (petrol + groceries) for Friday & Saturday. Combine with mbb2card amex, 5% cashback for 3 days (Fri, Sat, Sun) to cover Petrol & Groceries thumbup.gif

3) based on the T&Cs, Maybank has the absolute discretion to determine the category of the merchant (petrol and groceries). possibly this is based on MCC? hmm.gif

strange, that's not what the CS told me hmm.gif blush.gif

CS specifically told me any approved cards prior to 9 July will remains with RM50 GST.

I presented my scenario to CS: although my GST already charged back in Feb 2014, come next year and following years, my GST will be perpetually RM50.

Bro, reread your quote - it says RM50 for Maybankard 2 Card. Not Cards. Just kidding with you  tongue.gif
Maybank does have the rights to change any clause anytime. However, I think they need to give us Notice like they previously did when they revised the 5X TP to 2X TP for Education, Insurance and Government Agencies. But then again. we were not given Notice when they inflated Treats Points for redeeming stuff.

Anyway, if you got time to waste, click here to my article Maybankard 2 Cards GST Is Now RM100. Mentioned both Human Nature and cybpsych initiatives to inform existing cardholders of the good news  biggrin.gif

Thank you  smile.gif

I will actually still keep the card if I have to pay RM100 but I will really grumble alot on paying RM50 for the useless Visa  laugh.gif
*
true for those who always max Amex out smile.gif quite a burden to those with small spending

alternatively, can get MasterCard Ikhwan Card-i which gives 5% Cashback (Fri & Sat) but only 1X TP. I guess still better than forced to pay RM50 for the disappointing Visa/Mastercard from mbb2cards. Cant cancel it without cancelling both combo cards.

hey Gurus,

In terms of annual income, have a very newbie question here. Does it only consider the accumulation of based pay as the annual income? Can allowance and claims included too in order to meet the application requirement?
*
primarily on base pay (wage)

but if your allowances/claims are consistent every month, banks may consider it as constant stream of income. better if these allowances/claims are printed on your payslips.

Hi guys, i'm new in credit card installment plan with maybank

http://www.maybank2u.com.my/mbb_info/m2u/p...sonal/CRD-Cards

Does it means swipe my card with shop retail first for exact amount first. Later on call in into call center to convert the specific transaction into installment plan? Any T&C for such services? Any shop retails allowed by maybank?
*
The link is for EzyPay, where 0% instalment setup during transaction. It's dependent to the merchant that participate Maybank ezypay.

Ur notes below, is conversion to instalment after sales, called EzyPay Plus. There's additional fee of 9% p.a. Read thru the t&CS in website.

The banks are still waiting on the final decision on how GST will impact credit card holders.

From some readings here and there, it seems like Goods and Services Tax (GST) will probably apply on the Annual Fee, if any, while the existing Government Service Tax (GST) being waived.

There could be GST on other services provided by the bank. So, we'll just have to wait till the day the guidelines are finalized.

guideline already been there for months now

How can we know the Merchant Category Code (MCC) of each merchant?

I cannot see any MCC being printed on the charge slip (the small receipt printed after swiping and charging a debit or credit card).

Certain credit cards offers cashback, if and only if the merchant that you use is inside the list of approved MCC by the issuer of the credit cards.

Thanks.  thumbup.gif
*
the MCC is between the merchant itself and the bank. it has nothing to do with us/consumer.

problem starts when bank's card promotion requires specific MCC to qualify.

only way is to contact the bank itself after each transaction. the bank will capture the MCC, but not disclosed to us (again, not mandatory to publish it).
