Not every utilities accept credit card payment via each bank's respective eBanking platform.
Read the fine print in your ebanking system and your respective utility bills - there's an indication to where and when credit card payment is accepted.

i had checked.. rhb mbb and pbb online ebanking platform enable me to select tnb syabas and many more other vendor for credit card payment..

Looks like those hong leong bank wise card with rebate option on utilities selection will sound stupid.. u need to pay at kiosk.. waste of time n petrol n parking and all the hassle..

ok..

lets say i pay using hong leong bank credit card thru this payonline channel..

how fast will the amount be reflected in the credit card?

Let's say i need to pay 5k amount of bills. But my card limit is only 3k..
If instant reflection of amount, I can clear the 3k, and make the limit available again, and then pay the remaining 2k.

If it doesn't reflect immediately, means i need to pay the next day..

From my experience, it can take up to 3 days for TNB

Tat is fairly long also considering most merchant or retail outlet do their credit card batch run every night at 12am

if say your limit is 3k, you can "deposit" 2k to your cc right? then you can swipe 5k in one go? although i dont think that's the solution you are searching for... hmm.gif

not sure, discussion sake. tongue.gif

PS: in many ways... hlb is way behind other banks... it's only few months back that they started estatement, when i believe maybank had it for years? very few bills are payable via credit card on hlb connect. sadly...

save yourself the trouble and get it terminated if you do not plan to use it.

Car rental coverage. Visa & AMEX has programs for damage waivers if you pay using their cards.

Are there any cards in Malaysia that offers the same?

Bro, looks like we won't need to pay RM50 GST for credit cards anymore when April comes. VergonDC gave a link at MBB VS Thread, click here to MBB VS thread, see post #667 and check out the link.

Thank you @Gen-X. BTW, it's great to have you around contributing to this forum.

Bro, if you can recall, it was me who proposed to Admin to have this Credit Card Section set-up (we used to have only 1 single thread for CC) - so sure lah I won't abandon this section. However, for the last 2 years (and the coming near future), I have been flying in and out so have not been posting as frequent as I used too. When I am overseas, I do not have a 23" monitor but have a 14" laptop, so my eyes get tired very fast and therefore do not post or visit this forum very often.

And I'll be flying off soon. So I take this opportunity to wish all who are celebrating CNY - Happy Chinese New Year AND and may all of us (including those not celebrating CNY) - HUAT AH!

And for those who have Maybank Credit Cards and Alliance Bank Platinum Credit Cards -
click here to my facebook page for some very important announcement. You don't need to friend me to read my posts at facebook. And once again, I reiterated why you should sign up for Alliance Privilege Banking if you are using a Visa or MasterCard.

P.s. Click here to see the Chinese New Year Red Packets I collected from the banks.

How can we know the Merchant Category Code (MCC) of each merchant?

I cannot see any MCC being printed on the charge slip (the small receipt printed after swiping and charging a debit or credit card).

Certain credit cards offers cashback, if and only if the merchant that you use is inside the list of approved MCC by the issuer of the credit cards.

Thanks. thumbup.gif

the MCC is between the merchant itself and the bank. it has nothing to do with us/consumer.

problem starts when bank's card promotion requires specific MCC to qualify.

only way is to contact the bank itself after each transaction. the bank will capture the MCC, but not disclosed to us (again, not mandatory to publish it).
