Thanks, I appreciate your informative reply.

Just like you, I want to ensure that the merchant's MCC is the correct MCC that entitles us to cashback.

Ok, as you said, some issuer banks (our bank that issues credit card to us) are not transparent in revealing the MCC. Thus, if we contact the issuer banks, their customer support may not inform us the MCC.

Can we ask the merchant's bank instead to know the merchant's MCC? We are not asking for something confidential, like merchant's account number, so it should be okay, right?

the easiest way is still to swipe a small amount at the merchant and call your cc bank to check what is the mcc.

alvinkhorfire proper way to tag is like this:

CODE
[@alvinkhorfire]

Then the person you tag will be notified of it, guaranteeing that they will see it.

Hi,

I wanted to do a BT. Therefore, I applied for HSBC.
Received a call from the CS few hours later on the same day. According to her, it is pre-approved now.

Thing has changed now. I managed to clear my outstanding and I no longer need the HSBC card/ BT.

Can I cancel it and ask them not to proceed further? What is the correct process?

Well, it's a bit unfair to the bank and the agent who went through the trouble to get you the card you've applied for.

You can try to call in and ask them to cancel your application. However, my experience told me, once application is submitted, there is no way of cancelling it efficiently because of the various department involved and the 'silo' operations among them (RHB, in my case).

- Correction to earlier post -

In case this have not been shared before.
It is possible to arrange payment automatically for MBB Acct -> MBB Cards. This is done via eSI instructions in M2U.
eSI is a bit hidden in M2U (I kept on forgetting where it is) - to access it

- Select your banking account in M2U under Accounts & Banking.
- Standing Instructions will appear in the left section. (Only here)
- Add various eSI according to your needs.

To note that the eSI system will ask for a value that you wish to transfer on a regular basis/according to the period that you desire. Several options available - ranging from minimum, half and full payments for both statement and outstanding balance.

This is helpful for folks who want to arrange payment automatically to their credit card every month.

This is helpful for folks who want to arrange payment for a preset amount every month. Technically it will help to avoid late payment charges but if the bill is not paid in full, do note that the bank will charge you interest.
*
if not mistaken, we can also select to pay based on "statement amount" instead of "any amount", so the bill will be paid in full monthly automatically. but if "statement amount" is chosen, this monthly amount will be deducted on the statement date and not any desired date like if we choose "any amount" option.

erm, not sure the above is a feature in m2u or cimbclicks. because i don't use it since i prefer to hold the payment for another 15-20 days and not paying on statement date. biggrin.gif

I am not sure whether the following information (for eSI for fund transfer) is also applicable for eSI for payment to credit card from other banks.

Maybank CS told me that for eSI for fund transfer, RM 2.00 will be charged for standing instruction, and another RM 0.10 will be charged for Interbank Fund GIRO Transfer (IBG). The actual total fee is RM 2.10.

As I recall correctly, for recurring automated future transfer, CIMB Clicks and Hong Leong Connect only change RM 0.10, as such transactions are treated as future IBG. If this information is correct, the fee charged by Maybank is a bit steep.

Any advice given by experts here is appreciated. smile.gif

Many years ago, all banks have SI facilities which is more costly than IBG. Now it is a scheduled IBG.

I'm using it myself, so I can confirm it is only RM0.10. Basically they have realigned their system in line with other eBanking facilities that only charges RM0.10.
