At first I also quite interested with the 10% cash back, but read carefully the T&C..

QUOTE
Just make a minimum of any 10 retail transactions monthly (with a minimum of RM50 per transaction), you’ll get to enjoy the 10% cash back on your spending in the selected categories of your choice.

Maybank2kard give you a lot of points..but cash back option is limitee to weekend and got capping.

looking at my usage, a straight cash back without barriers is the best choice..
So shud be only ocbc and hlb essential
*
you're right

and before you apply for either of those, just make sure their credit limit is sufficient for your use... especially if your bills cost 20k+ per month

btw, water bill (syabas) is only payable via savings/current account.

Well, treatspoints is not cash but is 2x the value (each treatspoints effectively 0.4 sen). Redeemable as cash at a variety of places via vouchers or direct exchange etc.

For your huge bill, you can buy your next phone/laptop easily using treatspoints, no need to look at exchange for small small RM50 vouchers.

Even if credit limit not sufficient normally can pre-pay. Still gain relative to paying directly.

At 2% cashback (5x for Amex) your RM20k bill gives you RM400 per month. Claim laptop after 6-10 months depending how good a one you want. Claim smartphone after another 5 months. Claim vouchers for your grocery/household shopping after that.

Direct cash back means you get 50% less than you would have otherwise. Willing to accept that for convenience?

You're right. Free money doesnt come easy. If its easy, sure got T&C like monthly cap, min amount per transaction, or very low cash back at 1%..

If want higher, its in point rewards..exchange for something..Maybankard 2 Cards Amex is the best now..high rewards point + weekend 5% cash back but capped at RM50/month..

Dear Sifus,

Bank Negara Malaysia (the Bank) is issuing a concept paper on the Payment Card Reform Framework (the Framework) for public consultation. The Framework aims to foster an efficient, transparent and competitive payment card industry in Malaysia, in line with the Bank's statutory mandate under the Financial Services Act 2013 and the Islamic Financial Services Act 2013 and the recommendations outlined in the Bank's Financial Sector Blueprint.

The Framework seeks to ensure that any increase in the acceptance cost of payment cards is reasonable by establishing an objective and transparent mechanism for the reimbursement of fees among players in the payment card industry. Complementing the mechanism, the Framework, among others, also introduce measures to promote greater usage and acceptance of cost-effective payment cards through the use of correct price signals and empowerment of merchants.

Members of the public, industry players and other relevant stakeholders are invited to provide written comments on this concept paper. Please submit all written comments to the following address or email to payment@bnm.gov.my latest by 10 November 2014:

After my credit card fraud case, yesterday my CIMB DEBIT card has been fraud also..
The debit card I never use for online purchase and never swipe to buy things..this is saving account and its ONLY for saving..

Really fed up with this world..so many scams..

I know I can fill up dispute form and get back my money back..but this is so troublesome..waste my time for doing something that not because of my fault..

For debit card, you can set limit of RM0 for both debit and withdrawal to avoid this from happening.

With this framework, in future, i think we won't be having so many credit cards with 5% and above cash rebate... less perks.

somewhere in the concept paper, they wrote that merchants pass the cost of higher MDR even to those not using payment cards. they didn't consider that, even if MDR is lower, merchants NOT gonna reduce price. in the end, feels like consumer is at the losing end. HAHA.

sad sad... will be having boring credit cards like australia. blek... and we still need pay RM50 GST. doh.gif

Nowadays, we may need One Time Password for internet transaction, but it is really secured? Well, it is, as long as your phone is with you 24/7. Below is an article in The Star where I aldy complained to her bank that there were 14 fraud charges.... and the bank concluded that the charges were not fraud charges because they were performed on a secured website and OTP was sent to her mobile phone. Guess what, the so call fraud charges were transactions performed by he son!

http://www.thestar.com.my/News/Nation/2014...anks-assurance/

The article also reported about people loosing money with their Debit Card and Pay Pal.

Need some advice on how to utilize my cc. Do not know how to fully utilize it. Holding a OCBC world mastercard (1.2% cash back unlimited) and Maybank petronas platinum visa card (points). Both cl is almost the same where Maybank has higher cl.

Which is should I focus on using the most? I always confuse. Cashback or points would be better.

OCBC - http://www.ocbc.com.my/personal-banking/Ca...mastercard.html

Maybank - http://www.maybank2u.com.my/mbb_info/m2u/p...sonal/CRD-Cards
