Hi all,

Yesterday my maybank mastercard(apply with amex) was fraud for online transaction. How come some of those online transactions doesnt need MSOS code to proceed and some need MSOS code to proceed? My cards successfully go through 9 transactions over 30 attempts..

Me myself also curious sometimes I purchase online, doesn't need MSOS as well..

Example I purchase phone in Xiaomi Malaysia website payment through Paypal, I dont need wait for MSOS code to proceed..just key in credit card number, name and the 3 digit code will do..

My concern is, what is the most secure credit card that I can get for online purchase?

The MSOS is up to merchant whether to implement or not. And any credit card also similar in terms of vulnerability, in my opinion. Just set the SMS alert limit low and immediately contact the bank. A bit mafan, but the losses they tanggung not you.
*
Then I just continue use Maybank 2 Cards, since the benefits so good..Yeah, I'm waiting my new card, and I'll need to fill in the dispute form when collect my new card at my chosen branch as what the call center told me..

So I just need to fill in all transactions that I received SMS right? or they will print out my statement for me to see which transaction was fraud? hmm.gif

My M2visa just got affected too. Interesting because most of the fraud cases belonged to Amex. May I know the name of the merchants?
*
There are a few merchants from US and UK..but UK one I think didnt go through because need MSOS code..those go through one is in US and I think using Paypal, because I receive Paypal USD1 for register my card.. rclxub.gif

QUOTE(Wongchoy @ Oct 9 2014, 11:41 PM)
Most probably they are merchant based in USA. Their payment gateway still don't support MSOS or similar protocol. Somebody could just enter a valid malaysian card number and expiry date for payment processing ... And a fraud trnx is approved in America!

So insecure sweat.gif

Ya.. very insecure. As long as America do not fully implement VbV/securecode , everybody is vulnerable to fraud , as far as online trnx is concern.
*
Same like Paypal right? rclxub.gif
Paypal dont use securecode as well..

why not hlb wise 10%?

At first I also quite interested with the 10% cash back, but read carefully the T&C..

Just make a minimum of any 10 retail transactions monthly (with a minimum of RM50 per transaction), you’ll get to enjoy the 10% cash back on your spending in the selected categories of your choice.

At 2% cashback (5x for Amex) your RM20k bill gives you RM400 per month. Claim laptop after 6-10 months depending how good a one you want. Claim smartphone after another 5 months. Claim vouchers for your grocery/household shopping after that.

Direct cash back means you get 50% less than you would have otherwise. Willing to accept that for convenience?
*
You're right. Free money doesnt come easy. If its easy, sure got T&C like monthly cap, min amount per transaction, or very low cash back at 1%..

If want higher, its in point rewards..exchange for something..Maybankard 2 Cards Amex is the best now..high rewards point + weekend 5% cash back but capped at RM50/month..

After my credit card fraud case, yesterday my CIMB DEBIT card has been fraud also..
The debit card I never use for online purchase and never swipe to buy things..this is saving account and its ONLY for saving..

Really fed up with this world..so many scams..

I know I can fill up dispute form and get back my money back..but this is so troublesome..waste my time for doing something that not because of my fault..

For debit card, you can set limit of RM0 for both debit and withdrawal to avoid this from happening.

I got my new card replacement, and I already deactivate the debit function.. wink.gif

According to my friend who works at RHB Bank, due to the high volume of application they get everyday, they will only pick a few applicants randomly to call to verify employment details.

Serious? But I receive a few calls from RHB..at first they called, but HR not around..after a while, they call again..few times a day looking for same staff.. rclxub.gif

It's somewhat similar, but without the 10x RM50 transaction restrictions. However, the cashback is also less and widespread.
For low spender, this might be good.

Wonder what your primary card is until you can think of using 10% cashback card as 'backup'? =p

I'm using Maybank2Cards, and I was thinking to use MACH as backup, not HLB Wise Card.. nod.gif

Bro, if you need a card for petrol and groceries, check out Maybank Islamic MasterCard Ikhwan Platinum or Gold Card where Grand Master Sifu MilesAndMore taught me about this card's fantastic 5%
cash back.

Edited - I just had to share the above mentioned cards to everyone, so created a new thread -
