Which is better, Standchart 10% CB ( first-come-first-serve ) or MBB2Amex 7% (guranteed)?
For me I prefer using Amex.

A smart person would go for guaranteed 7% on the weekend on any spend amount.

I'm gonna cancel this card of mine. I find it useless for most occasion. Those once in a while promotion of 10% cash back has many T&Cs and not guaranteed, so I don't see the point of having an extra crappy card.

Finally someone saw the light. This is the lousiest card in town. And, the card retention centre uses all sorts of tricks to maintain card membership.

I went through all the promo emails I received this month. Seriously damn a lot! Very tedious work to research and confirm all the terms.

There’s actually a lot more promo in the link attached in the header of each category, but I’ve picked up the stuff I would use.

Shopping (https://www.sc.com/my/credit-cards/privileg...ml?cat=shopping)
1. Guardian 10% rebate when you spend RM100 on weekends. I normally stocking up on the usual supplements, meds, contacts solutions and toiletries at Guardian so will ONLY do so during the weekend.
2. Tesco online free delivery for min RM80 spend. I wouldn’t buy fish or veggies (cos I’m picky), but poultry, milk, bread, canned and boxed goods are the have been good so far. I have had some delivery with wrong order but they will just minus it off the bill manually using calculator! LOLOL...

Dining (https://www.sc.com/my/credit-cards/privileg...html?cat=dining)
1. 15% off at Coffea Coffee. I like the coffee here. Here’s the branches https://www.sc.com/my/credit-cards/privileg...ning&id=0000261
2. 20% off at Rama V located next to Mercedes showroom on U-Thant. Pretty good thai food if you want to bring your chicks out https://www.sc.com/my/credit-cards/privileg...ning&id=0000209
3. 15% off New Shanghai in Pavi opposite Mercato or at publika. Dim Sum is so so in my opnion BUT the porridge is superb. https://www.sc.com/my/credit-cards/privileg...ning&id=0000233
4. 30% off just the FOOD in Backyard Pub in Hartamas. Go for big breakfast on weekends. https://www.sc.com/my/credit-cards/privileg...ning&id=0000162
5. 20% off at Burger King. Straight forward deal.

Entertainment
1. RM8 per ticket at Cathay Cineplex (formerly Cineleisure) + RM5 for small popcorn set. The catch is that it’s max 2 tix and set per customer per day. I just buy 2 per day.

Travel https://www.sc.com/my/traveldeals/index.html
Destinations for 20k BIG points this month. It’s the usual 2x return tix excluding all the fuel, food, surcharge and etc.
1. Colombo
2. Osaka
3. Hangzhou
4. Nagoya
5. Taipei
6. Syd, Melb, Perth, Adelaide

Please note!
Booking starts 1-14 Sept.
Travel period Sep 17 to Nov 30 2014
Login and book ONLY here!! http://www.airasiabig.com/promos/scb-travel-deal/index.html

If you have 360 reward points and want to fly, there is a conversion promo of 3k rewards points to 1k BIG points. I cleared off all my old points in the useless platinum card and will use my WorldMiles moving forward. https://ibanklite.standardchartered.com/nfs...20a20057bc57284

I called to terminate my SCB Plat on Wednesday's night but until today nobody calls me to verify. How long does it take? The reason I ask is because I'll be travelling to overseas soon and though my phone will be roaming, I don't want to pick up calls to avoid expensive charges. I'll be back only a month later...

I just cancelled my scb plat card this week (switched to worldmiles) . I didnt have to receive any additional calls to cancel. I did however key in by T-pin and answered some verification questions by call center.

Before i cancelled it though, i changed all my points to BIG points due to the low interchange! https://ibanklite.standardchartered.com/nfs...20a20057bc57284

I'm about to call them now to check if it is really cancelled.
My one and only SCB. laugh.gif

Updated: Called and they said received my cancellation request but it is still "active". I said I cannot tolerate a week without action and if you need any verification call, call me by today.

Somebody just called me and said I have "cancelled" once in June and I have somehow promised to retain it until next year's January because they waived my GST, annual fees and gave me RM 50 cashback. laugh.gif OK lo, I will keep in my drawer. tongue.gif

Well, it is not a big issue for me. I also don't want to make them miserable, I can just keep it without using.
Why not when I get free money to use? rolleyes.gif But I will not entertain for the second retention though.

To be honest, if they just waive AF and GST, I will not bother.
That time, on top of these, they even credited RM 50 into my account, I cannot say no to free money. blush.gif

guys, for some reason i signed up for a standard chartered latinum card around a year back.

never used it, and just kept it for emergency purposes. now ive got my first statement with the rm50 annual fee.

my question now, can i waive the rm50 within this 2 weeks before the payment deadline on 29th this month?
