here you go...

This is up to your preference though, as im using Raven02E casing my temperature could be reduced down abit.
Max i have seen when on COD Ghost is around 85 celcius with maximum fan speed at 60%

If the fan speed goes over 60%, you can hear a jet engine in your rig doh.gif

Also to prevent unnecessary GPU load, reduce heat, noise, if FPS over 60 is unnecessary if your monitor only support up to 60hz refresh rate.

Do take a look @APU Agenda & Sessions.

It'll give you an idea of what AMD was/will-be doing - don't say AMD isn't doing anything for us folks. wink.gif

Sessions in 45mins, puhlease... so many overshoot one. tongue.gif

Hi all,

A question here. Does it make sense to go for R9 290 when the max I will go is 1080p at max settings?

I mean my 7850 is still capable of high settings at 1080p in BF4 and Ghosts. But would love to see all the eye candy. Don't think I will go more than 1080p in the near future.

What card would you suggest for this? I know that the R9 290 is for UHD resolutions so I am thinking it might be an overkill.

R9-280x is your best choice if you wanna max out the graphics on any current games at 1080p. you'll find that perf increase is almost twice as your current card performance..this card is worth every ringgit at its perf/noise/power consumption/heat since its already came with custom cooler. Cheapest only around RM10xx new one and you dont have to worry about noise and heat anymore unlike R9-290 where you have to think about getting another cooler.

Imagine R9-290+custom cooler around RM1.7k while R9-280x only ~RM1.1k and perf difference is about 20%-25% only. Anyhow if budget is not an issue, of course R9-290 with custom cooler is the best choice...but have to wait until december for that.

The next AMD card is Q4 2014. If you cannot wait, better grab Hawaii now before its 2 late.

smile.gif just get R9 290 High end is not overkill... if you get R9 290 at least you know u won't need G,cards upgrade 3 year coming... or more.. or wait Custom cooling for R9 290 by way price so reasonable under RM1.5K fo performance cards that beat GTX 780... icon_rolleyes.gif

I'm just predicting the price of upcoming non-ref card. tongue.gif

QUOTE(DuDe5593 @ Nov 12 2013, 07:55 PM)
As claimed by AMD it is normal for reference designed R290 to hit 90 Celcius.
Why bother to install a 3rd party cooler  hmm.gif

Even if you really dont want it to hit 90 celcius, there is always MSI afterburner to allow you to tweak
and customize the fan speed as of your preference.
*
I love to overclock my card, reference cooler can't do that and the card will throttle down when it reach 95c. Yes you can adjust the fan speed but i can't stand the noise it make when the fan speed is over 55%.

which model graphic card is same performance or slightly better than HD4870 1GB nowadays? Must low temperature & low power consumption!
